Location is fantastic, walking distance to Little Italy, the promenade, and two different trolley stops (the tourist hop-on hop-off one). Room was clean and spacious. Pool was quite nice and had some balls and toys for my kid to play with. The gym seemed pretty good though we didn't get a chance to work out.

Breakfast was mediocre, and all dishes and cutlery were single-use, which is not so nice. The train tracks are just behind the hotel, so you can hear trains go by all day and night. Also, the AC unit is really loud. We didn't mind the noise because we were after long trans-Atlantic flights, but if I wasn't so tired the noise would have disrupted my sleep for sure. All in all, a bit rundown and pricey for what you get but I guess you pay for location.

The location is excellent. It's very close to the Little Italy trolley station which gives you access to all public transport. The breakfast was good with hot and fresh options. The ladies did an excellent job of keeping everything topped up! The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice with lots of loungers and tables.

The noise of the room! The AC was unbearable and therefor we turned it off to sleep. The refrigerator was SO NOISY! again we turned it off to sleep. The room was physically vibrating the whole time, I suspect from the AC units from all the other rooms. Even using very good earplugs the vibrations emanating through the walls and floors would wake me and I'm not a light sleeper. I did ask for a room switch but the hotel was full and they couldn't accommodate this request. For this reason alone I would choose a different hotel for my next visit to San Diego.

The room was very spacious and clean, and I appreciated that there were many places (chairs/seats) to sit in the room. The breakfast options were great and I appreciated the fresh fruit. The pool was nicely heated (even at night). The exercise room was clean and well kept; the machines worked like new.... Also, although our room was on the ocean side (but had street view because we were on the first floor), I didn't hear any train or airplane noises, so I really appreciate that!

I didn't know that there was a parking fee, and none of the staff mentioned/asked if I had a car to register to the hotel. I got a parking notice/ticket for the first night in their parking lot. The front desk said that I didn't have to pay for the first night but will have to pay for the second night ($40, I think).... Also the sofa bed, according to my son, wasn't very comfortable.

Ended up here at short notice as Hilton hotel overbooked us for holiday weekend. Super clean, neat, well located hotel just near little Italy. The staff are wonderful, eager to help, & baked us home made cookies as treats! Relaxing pool area w Bbq & fire pit, plenty of space even at full capacity. Rooms are spacious, a little dated w fully equipped kitchen & very comfortable beds + pillows. Good variety for breakfast, included in room rate. This hotel is trying really hard to please guests w service, & is definitely value for money, stay here - not the Hilton!!

We'd like a kettle for making tea in the kitchen, but used a saucepan on the stove top OK.

Very spacious in the room!

I was very disappointed with my recent stay. Although check-in was listed as 3 PM, our room was not ready until 5:30 PM, which was frustrating after a long day of travel. On top of that, the tub in our room was clogged, which was an inconvenience. I also requested a late check-out and called ahead to confirm it. However, when we returned from breakfast, the housekeeper was already in the room cleaning it out. I went to the front desk to ask about this, and it turned out the staff member I spoke with earlier never noted the late check-out request.

Simply the best place I've ever stayed in California, hands down. Friendly, helpful and professional staff. Took care of everything we needed quickly and efficiently with a smile. Room was exquisitely clean and well provisioned with a full kitchen, separate bedroom, and great air conditioning and heating. Blankets were warm and comfortable, bed was great quality, even the couch bed was comfortable. Bathroom was updated, functional and clean. Facilities at the hotel were terrific. Heated pool, with two barbecues available and plenty of seating. Comfortable, homey breakfast area. Gym, business facilities, etc. Easy parking (for a fee which is normal in San Diego), and easy pickup area for Uber, Lyft etc. Great location walking distance to the harbor, Little Italy, and everything you need. Train/tram stations nearby as well. We really just can't say how happy we are with our stay.

Everything was perfect.

The facilities were nice and seemed recently refreshed. We were greeted by a pleasant employee who checked us in for our reservation quickly, and we were each given a bag with snacks and bottled water. Cookies were in a basket at the desk. Our room was very clean and comfortable.. The bed was good for me, a side sleeper, and my partner, who is a back/stomach sleeper. We didn't use the kitchen, but it was stocked well for basic cooking. Bathroom in good repair. Was concerned because I'd seen some reviews that said the location was noisy. I disagree, for the location it's actually pretty quiet but you have to take into account: It is along a major road in the middle of a city.. It is in a flight path but the whole area is, it's right near the airport which was super convenient for us since we didn't have a car (we used Uber when necessary), there is also the lightrail nearby but this wasn't as loud as we both went in expecting. If you are especially noise sensitive, this area of San Diego isn't for you as this will be an issue at most of the area accommodations. The hotel was a 10-minute ride to the airport, 10-15 minute ride to Balboa Park and Ocean Beach. A convenient walk to Little Italy, wonderful restaurants, and local attractions like the USS Midway and some shopping areas. The facilities were clean, breakfast was basic but good, refilled constantly, and staff was quick to clean the tables as they were vacated. All the staff we encountered were friendly.

Our ONLY issue was the heater in the room. Was particularly cold when we visited and the heater was very loud and located in the bedroom. So, as a work-around we ran the heater on high before bed until it was sufficiently warm. We closed the door to the bedroom after turning the heater off. This worked well and we were warm through the night. The bedding helped and the room didn't cool off too much.

The situation of the hotel was ideal for a solo traveller. Balboa Park was a half hour walk away or accessible by public transport using trolley and bus. Little Italy trolley station is only 5 minutes away. Embarcadero was close and strolling there was always enjoyable. The hotel breakfast was very good and the pool area inviting. I would definitely stay here again.

The window in my room wasn't clean on the outside and half of it faced a nearby wall but it wasn't a big detraction when the pluses were taken into account.

We ended up here at short notice due to Hilton Downtown overbooking us for holiday weekend. What wonderful.luck! Staff here are FABULOUS, very helpful, made home made cookies for guests. Facilities are dated in rooms, but excellent bed & pillows, spacious & super clean. Lovely clean large pool w fire pit & BBQ. Decent breakfast w lots variety. Lots of young familes staying here. Very central location can walk to tram station too.

Only suggestion would please add a kettle to kitchen to boil water. We heated a saucepan of water.

Location close to atraction and waterfront park, comfortable room, clean,servis room amazing .

It didn't happen every day, but on Sundays, breakfast time is shorter, and they started cleaning up after breakfast and taking things away even though we hadn't had time to eat them. The kids wanted milk and cereal, which the staff hid and didn't give us even though we asked. I think that on Sundays, breakfast should be longer and stress-free.
