The Thatched Cottage was very cute, our room was in the attic and called Lord Earl Grey. We had a lot of space and a bath. The bed was very comfortable and as I am tall it did not have any form of footer which was great. The breakfast in the attached tearoom was very nice and the staff were helpful. I would recommend the hotel. It's location is next to about 5 pubs and other restaurants. We had a meal at the recommended Thai restaurant which was a 2 minute walk away. It was very good.
The stairs getting to the room were very steep and had narrow treads, this would be an issue if you had mobility issues, however it also added to its rustic charm. The doorways in our room were very low meaning both my wife and I had to duck a number of times to get in and out. There is no answer to this as again it's part of the charm. The toilet was tucked away in the eaves and had a step to get in and a ledge to avoid with your head. I constantly banged myself both on way in and out, although this didn't bother my wife as much.

Full of character and comfortable, with an excellent adjacent tea room which served tasty and good quality breakfasts. Lovely staff, friendly and cheerful.
We got the feeling that most guests may stay for just one night. There was no in-room storage, so living out of our suitcases became a thing. That’s a small thing, definitely one to visit again.

A last minute trip and discovered this little, dog friendly gem. Arrived early and enjoyed a cup of tea and a delicious lunch in the on site tea room. We checked in and were staying in the Darjeeling room - a beautiful cozy, authentic, old-beamed, sloping low ceiling room. A bowl and a “Sunday dinner” - crunchies - was provided for our little dog - a lovely gesture and he ate it all - surprising, as he’s the pickiest doggie on the planet. A clean, modern bathroom. Right in the centre of Brockenhurst. Breakfast was included and was lovely. Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back.

Lovely stay with welcoming staff and great food. Breakfast was one of the best we have had.
Only thing would have made our stay better would be if the rooms were slightly tired and could have been cleaner. However we enjoyed our stay.

It was a Very clean and fresh looking room that I was given, breakfast was more than adequate, more than enough to set me up for my journey that day.. Very well placed for transport, trains are good and busses are regular, the local bus "app" is a bonus for finding routes and the current place of the bus.... There is a tour bus that operates later in the year and sounds like a god send to the average tourist like me, I traveled in march when the season was not in full flow, still loved the place for what it is ...
Lovely place, couldn't find fault at all....would suggest perhaps going when spring is in full flow and the trees and flowers are in full blossom.. Must be mind blowinly buitiful.

Perfect location, hearty breakfasts, very welcoming staff and spotless rooms!
Wasn't initially clear that the room wasn't in the thatched Cottage itself! Could hear the couple in the room below snoring and having intercourse, lost two nights sleep :(

We stayed in the Historic Room which was quaint, a bit small, charming, a bit dark too but would be fine for an overnight stay, there is everything you need in there and the staff are very welcoming too. Free off road parking is for about 8 cars on a gravel area to the front of the hotel / adjoining tea rooms. There appears to be on road parking available in front of the hotel however I don't know if there are any time restrictions. Hotel reception is through the tea rooms. The full English breakfast is one of the best I have had. The location of the hotel is right in the centre of Brockenhurst in very close proximity to pubs serving food and other restaurants. I would suggest you pay attention to the type of room you book that reflects what you need.

Excellent breakfast in a nice tearoom with plenty of options.
Initially we were allocated a room which had a difficult layout, entering via bathroom, and although we were warned there were steep stairs I found it difficult to negotiate, having a bad back at the time, meaning limited flexibility. Thankfully the hotel staff were understanding and very helpful and moved us to a better room on the ground floor. Room we were moved to was very comfortable with a really great shower and plenty of space.

Location was perfect for what we needed (a cycling event 20 minutes away early the following morning). Plenty of cafe/bar/restaurant options close by. The room was well equipped and very clean. Parking was right outside the front door. Staff were very friendly and helpful and provided pastries etc for breakfast the following morning as we were leaving before breakfast was served the following morning.
The bed was a little too soft for us but this is just a personal thing.

This place was wonderful -- even a touch whimsical. Perfect for a weekend birthday celebration & getaway, and as a base camp for venturing out to explore the New Forest. Every member of the staff was extremely warm and friendly. Both of us had dietary restrictions (one coeliac) that we asked about for breakfast, and no one batted an eye. (As well, the food was fabulous.) The location was perfect for big and small wanders. No qualms -- would happily stay here again!
The only thing we ran into was that the thermostat for the room pretended to come on, but never really did. We fooled ourselves into thinking it was working, but later realized it was just two people's body heat contributing to the overall temp. 😂 The room seemed well-insulated and was never absolutely freezing, just couldn't quite get it to a comfortable level. But our time there was so fleeting and full of things to do that we never managed to say anything, which is no one's fault but our own! (I believe we were in something like the lemon verbena room, for anyone's reference.) Truly, this was not ultimately a detraction from our experience.
