Great location with great walks. The food, both for dinner and breakfast were outstanding, loved the local food and drinks. Staff were very engaging and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The mattress to the bed was lovely and soft. Nice size room. Great value for money. Love the history of the building and the rooms named after people with links to the building or local area. We will be visiting again.
The pillows could have been better. We could hear noise very clearly from the bar downstairs until around 10pm and then in the morning when people arrived, we wasn't too bothered but some might be. We would book a room further into the hotel next time. An addition of local biscuits or snacks to the room would be welcome.

Comfortable hotel - a little remote, but with an extremely popular restaurant serving lunches, afternoon teas and dinners. Full meals and bar meals may be eaten in the Olive Lounge, although the tables are a bit low for the former. Staff were very attentive at dinner - a pricy menu, but tasty. The breakfast menu was extensive and also tasty; coffee is served by the cup from the adjacent bar. Dog friendly with plenty of grass around the hotel and signposted footpaths just beyond the extensive car park; there was also a jar of dog treats at the reception desk.
There was nothing discretionary about the “Discretionary 12.5% Service Charge will be added to your bill” … it was simply added to our bill; something to bear in mind, perhaps, when choosing food.

Such a beautiful Manor House in a beautiful location. The staff were some of the loveliest, friendliest people we’ve encountered anywhere in the world! Our room was cosy, the bed super comfortable & well equipped with coffee machine & gorgeous toiletries! Beautiful freshly prepared breakfast with high quality ingredients. Sorry we were only staying for one night, we would definitely return if in the area again & 100% recommend.
Our bathroom door really needed a doorstop behind it as it kept banging against the wall & it is worth keeping in mind it is a (gorgeous) old property so you can occasionally hear others moving around in the evening when it’s quiet - but definitely not off putting!

The location. Immediately next to the South Downs with a footpath from the hotel. That is why we chose the hotel, which was good in all respects apart from the tardy welcome as outlined below.
It was Mother's Day the day after our stay, with 400 covers expected. On arrival we were told breakfast was at 0800 or not at all, despite it being advertised as available until 1000. Shortly after, I discussed this with Simon, the excellent Manager, who relented and allowed us breakfast at 0915. This was appreciated, but the following morning the dining room was full of staff preparing for brunch and lunch and we were very much made to feel a burden. I appreciate the concession allowed, but the hotel prioritised casual diners over residents to maximise income. No effort was made to inform us of breakfast restrictions prior to arrival, in fact we had several emails asking us our arrival time, which I had already stated at the booking stage.

Had a perfect stay. Our room had a lovely view looking out towards the hills, whilst an old building it has been tastefully renovated and was clean throughout. All the staff were friendly and attentive, the food served in the restaurant and at breakfast was wonderful, being mainly locally sourced. The hotel has a cosy feel, it is in a quiet location, yet easy to reach without the need to drive down a load of narrow lanes! If you want a relaxing break with great food, I fully recommend Tottington Manor.
Nothing.

Location was lovely, relatively rural with typical Downs views full of livestock. We arrived at dusk and was greeted by very friendly staff, couldn't do enough for you.. Room was very clean and functional for the properties age. Breakfast (included in our price) was an experience to behold, a bespoke tea platter, and an excellently presented South Downs (English) delivered again by great staff.
Light in bathroom a little dim for make-up application and temperature of shower could be a little unstable.

Tottington Manor is in a scenic location with lovely food & friendly staff, reasonably clean & comfortable.
The room we stayed in could have been a little bit more luxurious, the wardrobe was not particularly good quality & the doors kept closing before we had chance to put our clothes in due to the floor not been level which we understand due to the age of the building but maybe a little bit more thought could have been put into where this piece of furniture was positioned, the window was in a very poor state of repair on the outside as the sill had virtually rotted off & we were very sceptical about opening it maybe this could be addressed, we understand it is probably a listed building & these repairs expensive but the property does not appear as 4 star quality inside or out.

Quiet location - although we were only 1 night so no time to appreciate the area. Lovely grounds. Good decoration in the hotel. Delicious meal in the restaurant, although should have had a starter as the main a smaller portion.
For the price the room was very, very small, and the mattress uncomfortably soft (having read this in previous reviews you could have expected at this price point it to have been sorted). A bad nights sleep. Coffee machine but no kettle or fridge. We could hear next door every time they used the bathroom or the coffee machine. I think for the significant price difference between Tottington and other hotels we would have expected more. My partner wanted me to note Bamboo Eco toilet rolls but the hotel still using plastic milk sachets.

Comfy room with lovely view. Phone charger points in lamps. All exceptionally clean. Dinner and breakfast food was excellent. All staff young, friendly and very helpful.
No draft ale but I do understand that, as a small hotel, they can't sell enough beer to make it viable. Wines were a bit more expensive than we would have liked. Room was rather compact, if staying longer than a couple of nights should ask for a larger room with more storage.

The food (dinner and breakfast) was excellent - very nicely presented. We liked the coffee machine in our room. The restaurant décor was also very welcoming. The bathroom was clean and nicely furbished; we particularly liked the Molton Brown dispensers. Staff were exceedingly friendly/helpful.
The bed was too soft for us both; a very, very soft foam mattress. Unfortunately our door would not lock when we exited the room. We did report this twice, and the staff did try to fix it but it was still not working on day 2 when we left. There was an additional bolt/lock on the inside of the door, but this is not acceptable if you wish to leave expensive belongings in your room. We assumed this was just the case for the room we stayed in. Overall the hotel was very clean, however lightshades and switches could be better dusted/cobwebs removed.
