This is such a friendly family and welcoming hotel. We have stayed here a couple of times now on our journey from Scotland south. The room is always very comfortable and the restaurant serves delicious dinner and breakfast. We will definitely stay again. Thanks so much for your warm welcome, your lovely hotel is such a warm and inviting place to stay..a breath of fresh air from all the modern chain hotels. Thanks so much. ☺️

Just that it’s a little out of our way, but well worth it!

The staff carried out their duties professionally and expertly. they went about their routines with smiles on their faces and were exceptionally friendly. our towels were changed daily and tea, coffee, milk biscuits refilled everyday. cleanliness was outstanding and room was extremely comfortable. our room actually had a heated, reclining massage chair which added a touch of luxury to the room. The food was delicious and substantial. Lots of menu choice at every meal. something for everyone.

The only thing I could recommend would be a more comprehensive inventory because we have found out about more amenities available since we have left.

Great location. Lovely staff. Fantastic old building. Family room was really big… had plenty of space for 4 of us. Kids loved the old building. We choose this as a stop on our travel rather than a roadside travel lodge or premier inn.

Room was a little too hot for us. Had to turn the radiator off and open the window to cool down. This most likely wouldn’t be an issue for other families. Pillows were also uncomfortable, but again not unusual for a hotel.

The location is a bit off the beaten track but not far from the M6 in one direction or the coast in the other. Quite isolated so quiet. Lots of parking. Room was fine as was the bar, which was cheaper than average. The vegetarian breakfast was as good as I've had. Staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend.

No crisps at the bar.

Nice friendly chilled out place to stay with excellent staff that were very attentive. There is nothing pretentious about this place and they welcome all sorts of people. We were a friendly group of six motorcyclists, we have stayed at places in the past where we have not received a warm welcome, this is not the case here. Would highly recommend for people who just want somewhere clean ,comfortable with nice food and a friendly atmosphere. However if you are the sort of person who likes to brag about there holidays and getaways on social media then this probably isn’t the place for you.

If I’m being picky the shower curtains could have been longer so there is less chance of flooding the floor. Secondly the rooms are quiet warm so summer duvets would have been a preferred option. There were blankets in the wardrobe for those who do feel the cold. These are only suggestions as the good far out ways the two issues mentioned.

We were there for an Agricultural show for which the location was perfect. The rooms were more than adequate with plenty of space, a good television and wifi, a wardrobe and a great outlook onto a field full of cattle. The shower was powerful and had lots of hot water (though it was in a bath). Breakfast was good - a good cumberland sausage and all the normal bacon, egg, beans etc. Dinner had a wide choice. The steaks were excellent as was the home made pie. The puddings too were generally good and there was a huge desire to please (offering custard, cream or icecream or even all three!) Service was delightful giving it a great atmosphere.

The choice of wine by the glass was rather limited and not the best.

This was exactly what we needed to break up our trip to Scotland and it was useful being able to all stay in one room for the night. The food was good - we enjoyed the Friday Steak Night - and the kids were happy with their food too. Breakfast was also good with lots of menu options. The kids made use of the play equipment outside. Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. The

The interior felt a bit old-fashioned and drab. When we arrived, it wasn't clear where we were supposed to check-in so we just found someone at the bar. The location is a bit off the beaten-track.

Menu had a nice choice, Food was good and plentiful too! Nice atmosphere and all the staff were very polite and helpful. Room was clean and had a good shower.

The only difficulty we have is when there is only a choice of a double bed - my husband is a tall man and so a king size is a better suit. It is in no way the hotel’s fault it’s just that a king size for us allows us a better sleep.

Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean and airy, so good to be able to open a window in a hotel these days!

Shower in my room, upstairs, was lukewarm. All clean and really comfy bed but warmer shower water would've been great :) Lack of good veggie options on the menu. My colleague had just the option of a veggie curry as a main he went for the cheese board instead. I had the steak pie, looked homemade, tasted great. But would be good to have a few decent veggie options in the freezer, not just 'veggie curry'. Same for the breakfast. Though again, staff were great and offered him more of what he could eat to help make sure he'd had a decent meal.
