We liked that breakfast was included and provided a lot if choice. Since it was made to order everything was fresh and delicious. The staff are friendly and professional which made us feel relaxed. Roy in the breakfast restaurant understood our specific requests and took the time to make sure everything was perfect. We liked the unique nature of the decor - it felt very Singapore / Historical and there are several lounges, bars, swimming pool spaces and library that make this hotel seem unhurried and relaxing. The surrounding area is safe and interesting to explore. This hotel made me want to revisit for longer.

Great location, quietness (or sound-proofing), furniture decoration at the entry, main corridor and restaurant, bathroom cleanliness, safe box, staff cheerfulness.

This is being super-extra-picky, in our case we had breakfast included as part of the package, we felt that the amount of food provided for breakfast was a bit excessive - some people might find this to be a positive though. The food was delicious though.

Great old Colonial style decor hotel, great location for easy walk to China Town and MRT to get subway to explore further. Staff/hotel team were all exceptional and attentive. Food, breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good.

Room we booked had a balcony on RH side of hotel, unfortunately that is directly opposite a building site and balcony was a no go area, disappointed that we were never told when booking and upon arrival after booking in. We were found an alternative room but without a balcony, suggest if others book they check this firstly.

Great hotel with gorgeous theme through out in a great location in walking distance to a lot of the major sights. All the reception staff was extraordinary friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast service could use some improvements. The food was very good, but it took too long to arrive (we had to wait up to an hour for our orders to arrive) and one day I specifically asked for eggs first and pancakes second and it arrived the other way arround. Also pool area could maybe use some greenery or other decor to make it a bit more cozy.

This is very historic property which has been beautifully transformed into a luxury hotel. I stayed in a room that had access to the club lounge, where I was very well looked after by all the staff. The food in the lounge and at breakfast was excellent. Location is very good - minutes away from Maxwell and Tanjong Pagar stations. Lots of food and drink options locally.

Beautiful old heritage building recently refurbished and full of fascinating artefacts. Very quiet and comfortable in my room. Loved the breakfast and the kindness and attentiveness of the staff.

The management need to figure out their eco credentials. Towels were washed every single use, which is a waste of energy and no option to retain them. All lights on in the room all day after cleaning.. and aircon full blast. Glass bottles for juice at breakfast are recycled not washed. Simple things could help make contribution to helping reduce impact on climate.. and finally the chairs in the lobby are a bit style over substance. They are arranged like a kid has been playing buses with the parent’s chairs and you can’t actually sit on them.. so there is nowhere to rest in the lobby area. Which is just odd

The property was exceptionally good. The staff were charming and very professional. The pool was a welcome relief from the heat of the day.

There was construction work going on next to the hotel which meant that our curtains were shut all the time. We had no daylight in the room. We could touch the scaffolding! It was like being in a cave. I realise the building was not under their control, however we were not given any warning before we booked or even when we checked in. Very disappointed.

Amazing hotel, great location with wonderfully attentive staff, particularly Rufus on Reception who helped with our early arrival and another member helped with our late departure. Spotlessly clean in all areas and comfortable bed. Executive Lounge facilites were excellent and the breakfast, juices and nibbles were delicious. .

Currently due to building works close by, there is noise that can affect some of the bedrooms but working times are limited.

Everything about our stay was perfect. The hotel is elegant and intimate and filled with fascinating memorabilia, and thousands of books. Breakfast was excellent with a varied menu and served amongst the books, to our delight. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and very helpful when we needed advice.

We couldnt fault anything.

We were not made aware of the construction next door and the room was a little cramped (but this is standard for Singapore so not a reflection of the property!)
