Jessica and Michael the owners were so helpful and friendly. They only took over 2 months ago, but they are doing an excellent job. Our room was a great size with everything we needed, the bathroom and kitchen areas were great too. Our view looked right out across to the sea, where you could watch dolphins, if they were around. Everything inside and out were so clean and tidy, even Jessica's dad was gardening. This was the best and cleanest place we have stayed in the month that we have been travelling around NZ. Thank you both, we know you will do well xx

Nice little motel with a great location and a nice vibe. The room is very clean and comfortable. The sea is just across the road. The new owners are very nice. Nice trees in front of each room (it does not look too much like a car park, which is pleasant). Easy walking distance to the center of Kaikoura and very pleasant 3km walk to the end of the road where you can see seals and walk around the point (stunning walk). We have been coming for 20 years and we hope nothing will change. It is as nice as ever. on week end, don't miss the sauna on the beach just across the road! it was just amazing!
Some shrubbery and greenery in the flower beds in front of each room would be a lot more welcoming than the plastic flowers which do not suit the location. The decoration in the rooms could be upgraded: the "painting" of Shanghai under the rain is depressing and definitely does not fit the vibe of Kaikoura.

The location was superb. We had a wonderful view of the sea and mountains beyond. The motel is on the older side and has had some refurbishment which has made the units comfortable and compact. There is car parking right outside each unit and the staff were helpful and friendly. The units were very clean with lots of little additions to make your stay easy.
Although the bed was quite comfortable the pillows were hard and unforgiving. We didn’t sleep well at all. Such a shame as other guests have reported the same issue. A mirror in the main bedroom would be very useful as very difficult to dry your hair without one. The window dressings badly need replacing as they had holes in them.

Very good owner with warm welcome. Perfect location and amazing view. You can see mountain and sea at front of your unit. Room is tidy and clean. The new renovated bathroom and kitchen is super clean. I can feel the new owner did lots of hard work and try to improve the facility.
Feel sad for the new owner, she only took over the business 3 weeks ago. The bath room was renovated by previous owner but designed very bad(or cheapest cost). Can’t believe a 2024 new bathroom without extraction fan, even the old switch shows there was a fan before. All the water vapour will stay in the bathroom ceiling and start mouldy soon. Another problem is the bathroom/toilet door no locker, yes, everyone can enter the bathroom when you do your number two or they can watch your fatty tummy when you take shower. However, it’s good to improve relationship with your GF:)

The room (upgraded when we got there) was spacious / close to the sea front and walkway / location was an easy drive to the town centre / The wifi was reliable and there was Netflix available which we really appreciated (to a degree)
1. The TV had a volume limiter and my girlfriend has a hearing deficit. We had to use the subtitiles and she couldn't always keep up. As a result we didn't enjoy the movies as much as we should have. My hearing is good but it was only just loud enough for me. 2. The shower had very poor pressure thanks to the shower head installed. It worked but again the experience was not as good as a shower with decent water pressure. 3. An electric outlet in the bathroom would have been handy for my shaver. All of the above amenities worked but could have worked more satisfactorily in my opinion. We still liked it there and would stay again.

Beach just across the road with view of snow capped mountain. Saw 2 seals by the rocks. Large TV with Netflix. Cooking facility complete but no frying as no suction fan. Designated carpark in front of room. View from window nice even though not sea facing. Fresh milk provided for tea and coffee making. Seals are everywhere in Kaikoura coast.
Town probably too far to walk. We had a car so no problem. Bathroom not so comfortable but okay.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the headland at KaikĹŤura. It is nestled up against the hill with the beautiful bay in front. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, a practical kitchenette and a shower that was hot and strong. We appreciated being able to do our washing, and sat on the chairs outside in the sun while we waited. Our hosts were friendly and we appreciated their information about the Seal colony and the Peninsular walk.

The owners were very friendly and around the premises which was great for getting some tips on what to do in KaikĹŤura. The room was large and had everything we needed. The motel is situated on a quiet road and we slept really well with the sound of the sea in the background. I appreciated a variety of pilliws being provided too. The bathroom and kitchen looked recently renovated which was a nice bonus.
A few more clothes hangers and hooks in the bathroom would be helpful.

Centrally located directly across the road from the beach. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean and the closeness to a friendly town centre with lots of great shops. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly and the unit was clean and comfortable with a view straight to the mountains and the ocean. A welcome oasis after a long journey and close enough to the Ferry in Picton. We will come again.

Actually the best place overall on our New Zealand trip! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great place near the beach and mountain view. Not in the center of Kaikoura, but with a car it is not a problem at all. Even a great walk after the dinner. The room is super clean and very spacious. You have a designated parking spot near the room. We came to Kaikoura for a whale watch, but the staff recommended a great local restaurant for crayfish, a place to see the seal colony, and a good lookout at the village. Overall this is a highlight of the trip, the 10 of 10 what you can get from the small village. If it is possible, book 2-3 nights, to enjoy Kaikoura.
You can book breakfast, but only “cold breakfast”. It is nice to have this option, but we prefer bigger and warmer breakfasts to load younfor a day. A lot of places to have breakfast around - our favorite Cafe Encounter, super delicious pies, great coffee. And cozy souvenir shop in the building.
