The room we were in was beautiful, The bed was incredibly comfortable. The bedroom was the typical old Dutch style, with lots of exposed beams and different levels. The bathroom was super modern with a large bath and shower. The property is perfect for couples, there are a couple of narrow staircases to climb, so if you have mobility issues, this wouldn't be the right property for you. The location is absolutely perfect. I found the room to be clean though if you do require cleaning or towels etc during your stay you do need to ask. This is a boutique hotel, there is no one at reception in the evening or night.
I wish the bar downstairs had been open while we were there! I think it was called the Red Room, it was stunning!

Lovely old, charming & quirky property. Decor is in keeping with the age of the house - shabby chic and the building oozes history. Room was large and despite the central location, it was quiet. The bed, huge and comfortable. Great location close to everything. A 10 min stroll to the train station or around the corner (3 minute walk) is the bus stop for the airport bus - all very convenient.
We didn’t mind, but some people would find the staircase challenging. Like many old Dutch buildings the staircases are narrow and super steep (no lifts). Anyone with reduced mobility would be in trouble.

Great location in the pedestrian area, parking in walking distance. Stylish, modern rooms in a renovated, historic building-tasteful, special design concept. Very friendly staff. The stairs might be challenging for handicapped people.
- no idea

We stayed 4 nights rather than Amsterdam as that city had jacked up its hotel prices above $400/night for KINGS' DAY weekend. It was $290 per night and the room was very large and comfortable. The stairs are steep and narrow so not good for those who are unable to maneuver them with luggage. No elevator. The breakfast was the exact same every morning and quite skimpy on the eggs serving. Not enjoyable for the price. The owner was grumpy and seemed to be not enjoying his job for most of the time. One day his waitress did not show for work so understandable, but the other 3 days he clearly conveyed his dissatisfaction with his work with his demeanor and attitude. Hope he adjusts this as he has developed an interesting old world hotel in a good location with charming features.
See above.

The MAF is a very old building with high ceilings, quirky, arty decor such as bronze monkeys holding lights, a profusion of crystal chandeliers, a scattering of oriental carpets with mismatched antique tables and chairs. Twisty old stairs led to the various guest rooms. Our room had high ceilings with massive exposed old wooden beams, a large comfortable bed, and a modern bathroom and toilet room. The MAF breakfast comes in two sizes. We chose the large, delicious breakfast which included cheese, eggs, yogurt, croissant, coffee & ham. In addition to loving the unique boutique hotel, we thoroughly its Haarlem location. Directly outside MAF's door are shops and restaurants and just down the street is a large church square with shops, the old church, and restaurants.
If you are unable to climb stairs, this is likely not the best choice for you.

This is a family owned and run hotel and their passion for this fine old building is obvious. At first sight, the public areas have an unfinished look. However, the owners are taking care to restore the property by taking away more recent conversions to expose the historic core and show the changes made over the centuries. Many materials removed have been cleverly recycled. Nice friendly staff and the gentleman owner will talk at length about the building and he also has a great knowledge of the history of Haarlem. Good breakfast too. The bedroom was very spacious with a fabulous comfy bed. Secure parking for bicycles close by and the hotel is a stone’s throw from the very centre of Haarlem.
Internet for TV was a bit hit & miss. So read a book instead!

Location was good, bed was comfortable, bathroom was a nice size.
The room was very dark. There were windows that opened to a concrete square space, no view, and if we didn't keep the curtains closed, people walking by in the hallway could see inside our room, but we paid for an "extra comfort room" which, on the website showed rooms that were bright and airy. Ours was the opposite of that.

Great location and helpful staff on check in
Was a bit surprised to find the hotel wasn't manned in the evenings and we worried about locking ourselves out of our room. It would have been nice to have a manned bar area to have a drink - the downstairs arrangements and opening times were a little quirky and hard to fathom! Given that there was no room service, a small fridge in the room would have been a good addition to keep milk for tea/coffee etc.

Great location. Our room was stylish, spacious and bright, overlooking the street. The bed was very comfortable and the settee and table a welcome alternative to sitting on the bed. The bathroom was large with a lovely bath and rain shower.
Some hooks to hang coats would have been handy - we had a lot of rain during our stay. We had a blocked sink that we reported twice, but wasn't rectified. Under the bed needed attention - there was a thick layer of dust.

We didn't have breakfast as relatives live nearby. But it looks like a lovely place to meet up with a friend for a coffee or daytime meal. The rooms were interestingly laid out and decorated, Dutch style, some beams in the ceiling, some period-type furniture, but modern amenities (bathroom, coffee/tea making). It's an unusual old building that has been renovated. We liked that we could pay at the hotel instead of paying in advance. We would definitely stay again.
Although the description says "upper floors accessible by stairs only", we found the narrowness of the treads a little difficult, narrow treads are common in The Netherlands. There are handrails on one side or the other but where the treads are very narrow, and the stair space wide and curved, perhaps handrails on both sides or in the centre would be helpful to less mobile residents. Very friendly staff kindly carried our cases up and down for us, much appreciated. Although our room had a window, unfortunately the view outside was the wall of the next building, approximately 2 metres away.
