The staff were all very friendly, helpful with enquiries and accommodating when I asked for specific things. The bed was really comfortable and the room was sufficient for what I needed. The bar, restaurant and conservatory areas were kept very clean and were great for sitting and relaxing but also had the most amazing views! Food at the restaurant was very good, well cooked and tasted great. The hotel is right on the coastal path so meant I could take short breaks and walk along the coast without having to drive anywhere or take hours and hours out of my day.
Some areas of the room were a little rough around the edges and needed maintenance, such as a leaking pipe on the towel rail. The windows felt a bit dated and didn't seal well, which meant my room got a bit chilly and so I had to make use of an extra blanket, even though the weather had been warm. Shame they have the rule not to allow take-away food at the hotel as that would have given more food options, but I understand why they chose to do this. The food options at the restaurant are a little limited and, for me, pricey. It would be great to have more meal options around the £12-15 price, than all being £17 - £28. Maybe even some more 'lunchy' options like baguettes for people who have already had a main meal during the day and want to buy something a bit smaller at the restaurant.

A warm and friendly greeting on my arrival at reception. Throughout my stay, all the staff were extremely pleasant. My room and bathroom were immaculate and had a partial sea view, lovely sunrise first thing in the morning flooding the room, such a great start to the day. I have to say how nice it was to stay in accommodation which provided large thick towels rather than the tiny, thin things so often left out for guests. A lovely old style hotel which suited me very well and I would love to return in the future.
I don't normally have breakfast but on the first morning opted for bacon, egg and mushrooms followed by tea and toast. Unfortunately, the cooked breakfast was slightly oily so I just had tea and toast for the following two days.

The view was something that money could not buy and we were lucky enough to be there on a very warm Friday in April. The SWCP is opposite the entrance of the hotel and we walked to Duporth, Porthpean and Charlestown on the first day and Carlyon Bay, Par Sands and Par on the second. The staff (they're weren't many) were so helpful and worked so hard. Special mention for the young lady on reception (didn't get her name but she's studying Law) who not only checked us in, served us breakfast and drinks but also cleaned the rooms! She was so welcoming and helpful and also to the young man with the beard who was working on the bar and serving evening meals and breakfast ...again very pleasant and helpful. Think their Manager got lucky when he employed both of them!
The hotel bedroom was slightly dated and mattress very hard (but we're used to a soft bed) but didn't spoil the visit and the room and bedding was spotlessly clean..

From the moment we walked in we felt valued and welcome. The location was stunning and care and attention has been made to make the best out of the old building. The sun trap terrace with sea view was really well maintained. We also paid extra for sea view and I would recommend doing this. The food was simply fantastic- fresh, good quality and very good value. Hats off to the chef! Also the cost of food and drink was very competitive not inflated as you usually see in a hotel. Thanks for the wine recommendation too.
Yes it’s a little bit tired but the price of the stay reflects this. The water pressure was very low which resulted in the shower not being very strong flowing but we could cope with that for a couple of days

A beautiful, quiet old hotel, with an amazing view of the bay. Clean, comfortable room, good shower, beautiful garden. Delicious evening meals , decent breakfast, nice bar and polite friendly staff. A nice 20 min walk to Carlyan beach or 15 mins walk to Charlestown . Not far from Mevagissey and Fowey. All are beautiful places. Such a peaceful place, I loved it. I would definitely return. Its an old hotel with alot of charm.

We had a huge room with a beautiful view over looking the bay. The bathroom was a good size and very clean. There was tea/coffee making facilities in the room and lovely arm chairs with a coffee table in the bay window. We had a really nice cooked breakfast at a window seat overlooking the cliffs. Breakfast consisted of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, juices and your choice of a hot breakfast.
During our visit there was a boiler problem so we were unable to use the lovely big corner bath. The chairs are a little worn but that actually added to the atmosphere of the room.

It was very comfortable and clean. The hosts were very welcoming and the setting is amazing. I was happy with the room and the hotel in general and would stay again.
I couldn't get any food until the evening and had travelled 5 hours to get there so even a bowl of chips would have been good. The hotel owner explained that I could get food at the golf club nearby but I really didn't want to go out again after the long journey. It would be great if it was possible to get food at lunchtime too. Maybe it's because it's not busy yet so it's not worth having a chef on duty in the daytime.

Loved the hotel with its outstanding views. All staff were very friendly and helpful, from the lovely Receptionist, up to the owner.Mark the manager, was very helpful even when the hotel was busy. The blonde young lady who also worked at the hotel was very polite ,caring and certainly knew how to support the customers in the hotel. The restaurant food was excellent, we had a full English breakfast every day which was very nice, the evening meals (we had fish and chips and Porth Avallen burger) were delicious. Thank you, chef, for a fantastic meal. This is our second visit and we were pleased with our visit.
There was nothing which would cause me to complain.

food was very good and members of staff profesional
the only downfall with this holiday location was the facilities for getting around when you have no personal transport as the local bus option was a mile away from the hotel however in saying that most of the outer town hotels and accomodations will be more or less the same because of that part of the country's hilly terain, in this part of UK CORNWALL you need transport to get around that is why it is imperative to give local bus service options to the holiday accomodationd and how far away the services are.

Three 10* things I liked! I booked on the last minute online and arrived at the hotel stressed, having broken down and left stranded. All the staff were so welcoming, calm, helpful, pleasant, polite and professional that I had soon calmed down and felt better. The staff get a 10/10 from me The view! Just beautiful and mind-calming. The breakast was perfectly cooked and served with the nicest gluten free toast I've ever had. Delicious!
Only one thing that I would change. The lighting in the room. Could have done with more choice of mood lighting, or two bedside lights or at least the one in the room moved to the table in the middle of the twin beds as I had to get out of bed to turn it off before settling down to sleep. Other than that... everything was perfect!
