Location was beautiful, the staff were so friendly and accommodating, the food was fantastic. Beautiful location and such a fantastic place to get away from it all for a few days. We really did have the best time and the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff played a huge part in that, we were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble they really are just wonderfull. We will most definitely visit again and next time we will be bringing our doggie with us too after seeing how welcome they are everywhere.
The mattress on the bed was very firm which I found uncomfortable but my husband was fine with it, I think I'm just too used to memory foam. It is a bit of a squeeze in the room and the ensuite but it's an extremely old building and to be expected and to be honest it just added to the charm.

Loved the staff, the food and the location
Our shower was awfully weak. We had a late check in as we were advised there was filming at the property. Although we were offered a coffee from next door, we didn’t feel comfortable moving (the ceilings are very thin -typical of an old property) and we didn’t want to make any disruption/ the shop was also packed - a complimentary gin and tonic would have softened the edge of being confined to our room. £140 for one night is v steep for a poor shower, feels like we’re paying for the location. Not that this was anyone’s fault but there was quite a large local group of bad mouthed that to a b&b guest was a little intimidating. Are you a b&b or a community pub?

2 night stay, room was lovely and well equiped. Staff very welcoming as were the locals. Good choice of beverages from the bar and I was introduced to Sabuca Black - wow !!! Evening meal had been pre booked for the Saturday evening, food was excellent - especially the Confit Duck Leg. Breakfast choice excellent although we went for the full English both mornings which was very good, with additional toast, yoghurt and croissants. Bedroom was quirky and bedding was very good quality. Would return if we visit the area again
Room was very hot but independent thermostat on radiator meant we could turn off the heating and opened window for a while. We didn't need the heating on at all although the heated towel rail in the en suite was also on and did generate some heat.

The setting of Great Tew is beautiful, and the Falkland Arms nestled into that setting, as it has been for ever, was the best of the best that the Cotswold's offers in a gentle, soft coloured, characterful way evocative of times past. The whole experience was relaxing, with no need for pretentions and people who so clearly wanted you to enjoy the ambiance, the food, and just being there. A place you really do want to revisit. The facilities in the rooms were sympathetic to the needs of those staying and just what was wanted.
It will be no surprise, but parking could be tricky - though we managed. The bathroom, although well appointed was small and too small to incorporate a sink, which was in the bedroom itself. HOWEVER, we realised the reasons why and if that is the worse thing we can feedback then let nobody decide not to visit on that basis.

This was likely my favourite stay anywhere… ever! If you have ever seen the film The Holiday, you will feel like you’ve been transported there! Everything about The Falkland Arms is perfection. The location, view, aesthetics, drinks, vibes, pub, breakfast, bedroom, bathroom. I could go on.. There was a folk band that happened to be playing the night of my stay and they brought the loveliest vibe. I will return specifically to hear them soon!!
It didn’t matter because I loved it so much but if you’re a light sleeper the walls are a bit thin. But everything is so amazing that to me it didn’t matter

The staff was friendly and helpful, even when it was busy there. The atmosphere in the pub side was good. Good selection of drinks. Breakfast and other food were well prepared and sizes were good. My single bed room was clean and cozy with own bathroom. Bed was nice and firm, could sleep on side or on back.
The only thing I can say anything negative about, is the high of the ceiling. In the room it's fine, ~190cm. But in the bathroom it's maybe 180cm. So it wasn't optimal for 186cm person. BUT this is old English pub, so one must remember that the structures were made in time when people were shorter.

I had the loveliest time staying here. The staff were absolutely delightful. My single room was cosy and comfortable, and had everything I needed. The food (I had breakfast and dinner) was delicious. The location was wonderful - a very peaceful little village surrounded by beautiful countryside, with great access to lots of local attractions. If you’re looking for a cosy stay in a quintessential Cotswold village, then this is the place to book. I’m already planning my next stay! I only have 2 words of caution. First, for tall people - As this is such an old building, the ceilings are very low, so I recommend calling the pub to check the ceiling heights in their rooms before you book, just to make sure you’ll be comfortable. If it’s helpful to know, I’m 5’4” and had no problem at all. Second, for anyone with mobility issues - the rooms are accessed via quite a small spiral staircase. If either of these things mean that you can’t book a room, I still highly recommend a visit to this pub for a drink or some food. It’s so pretty and full of character, well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Nothing, I loved everything.

The room was in the attic, and much larger than expected. However, persons with limited mobility would find access tricky up the very old wooden spiral staircases. Dinner was very good in a lively atmosphere. Clearly a pub for the 'locals' as well as visitors. Breakfast was extremely good, local fayre, and an excellent small buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I did not at any time feel uncomfortable being a solo female traveller.
It was not clear when booking that the spiral staircases in this very old building may cause an issue for those with limited mobility. The description only said 'no lift'.

Had a lovely stay at the Falkland Arms last night. A quintessential old-style pub & hotel with buckets of charm. I was travelling for work and didn't arrive until after 10pm. This was not an issue and the staff welcomed me in. I even managed a quick beer before retreating to my room. My room was a single bed with an en-suite. Plenty of room for the solo traveller. Clean and fresh. Staff were lovely and the breakfast was delightful and filling, with a small self-service buffet and a selection of warm dishes to order to accompany. Add this to your bucket list if you're heading down to the Cotswolds.

It was just the kind of place I was looking for. Really old place with a lot of old features. Open fire, exposed beams etc.. Good beers, very quiet location. The staff were all very attentive and obvious they enjoy working there. I believe her name is Ellen, she is a credit to the place. Very approachable and kept everything in good order. She never seemed to leave either!
Can hear the people in the room nextdoor but it's an old place and it's more on the other guests than the place itself. The room I was in isn't built for anyone over 6ft tall. No issue though.
