This hotel, designed by its owner Jimmy, a friendly Swiss traveler, offers a distinctive and personal touch. The location is fantastic, with an incredible view of the surrounding bay. The property is clean, well-maintained, and provides free kayaks for exploring the area—a nice bonus. A particular note of merit: this is one of the few hotels on the island that didn’t take advantage of the holiday season to triple room prices, which is greatly appreciated. Overall, a very pleasant choice for those looking for something a bit different.

Some practical points to note: Rooms don’t have air conditioning but are naturally ventilated. There are no shutters, which might be an issue for light sleepers. Access is by a small boat provided by the hotel, running throughout the day. Dining options are limited to the hotel’s restaurant. The food is good, albeit simple, with slightly higher prices justified by the logistics of bringing in supplies.

Extraordinary place to stay. Staff is marvelous. Location is fantastic. Bungalows are fun, spotless, and quiet, ours overlooked the bay- sunrises and sunsets beautiful, full moon even more so.

I wasn’t aware when I booked that it was boat access only, not a problem, just caught me off-guard. Take lots of cash, none of the tours or dives can be put on your hotel bill.

This was the best room I have ever stayed at in my entire LIFE. Not just the best stay in the Philippines (which it was, by far) but also overall just WOW. You can get there by boat which in itself is very unique, and after you climb up the stairs they greet you with a smile and a welcome drink, and the views, oh THE VIEWS. Out of a fairytale. The fact that the room had no glass window, you were part of the outside, feeling the breeze. Laying on the bed seeing the see, palm leaves and the sky: it truly felt like we were in heaven. The pool with the views, happy hour cocktails for cheap, some great daytrips. Our whole stay was perfect, like a dream, thank you!

I can only mention some really small things to consider: the way up can be quite a struggle for some people. The bathroom doesn’t have a door, which did not bother us but it might be weird to adjust to for some people. For food your only option is the restaurant, which was good but of course not the cheapest. (The breakfast options are great though). And this did not bother us because we had our own scooter but we heard their shuttle and bike rental services are quite overpriced so better to have your own vehicle ☺️

This place is just incredible!! We got a van that took us to a boat, then you go on the boat to reach the resort. It is so peaceful and such a beautiful place. The views from the rooms and the restaurant are stunning. The staff are very helpful and friendly, they are waiting for you at reception when you arrive to greet you and give you a refreshing drink. Be prepared though.....it is a steep climb up from the boat to the hotel, you need to be reasonably fit to cope with the constant going up and down the hill.

As the rooms are all open, there are no windows, every living creature that is capable, can get in. The rooms are crawling with insects, so be prepared for that!!

Staff very friendly and eager to do their jobs well, owner was present, also really friendly and hands-on with management, food was great and worth the steep climb from the hotel wharf. I'd eat here even if I was staying elsewhere. Resort is located near several fascinating wrecks, and five minutes away from Gunter's Dive shop, the pioneer and specialist in Coron wreck dives. Breath-taking sunsets. We liked our experience so much, we extended for three more nights.

The thatch roofing in our cottage gave me a bit of an allergy.

This place is truly a hidden paradise. We were a bit doubtful if the place would actually do justice to the pictures advertised , but it was beyond surreal. The resort is perched on top of a hill and it is a steep hike to get there. But once you reach the top , the hospitality and the breathtaking views make up for the climb. The Chef made sure that we had yummy vegetarian food served for all our meals.. The rooms were spotless and had everything you would need. A swim in the infinity pool overlooking the sea dispelled any fatigue. The staff are ever attentive and arranged ferry rides and motorbike rental for us to explore the town for Concepcion. We spent 3 magical days diving , swimming , eating and just lazing on the hammocks all the while enjoying spectacular views..there is no place I would have rather spent in with a typhoon raging in the Philippines.

Al faro facilities and the team are exceptional. The location is secluded and private (and requires a short boat ride to get there) offering private accommodation with exceptional bay sunset views, a super relaxing pool area and fantastic food. You do not need to leave for anything - everything is taken care of and can be arranged. Activities on offer are arranged with simplicity in mind and include everything from scooters, to kayaks, to diving, to snorkeling and more. The service is outstanding and the people are incredible.

Fabulous location with panoramic views. The accommodation was unique and comfortable - there was open air but the bed did have a mosquito net, so no problems there. No a/c but the fans and breeze through the open windows was enough. The climb from the dock to reception is pretty challenging but a small price to pay for the location and views! Fabulous massages too!

Glass was allowed around the pool which was a bit of a concern - if a breakage happened and the area had to be closed for cleaning, there any really anywhere else to go.

This place has an amazing outllok and veiws from all the rooms. Very interesting archetecture. The sort of place to stay fir a few days and not feel the need to go anywhere. Very relaxing, amazing views, great food, staff excellent, massage and beauty treatments. Incredible sunset veiw from the pool. Prices reasonable compared to other resorts. Staff can organise trips to collect u from hotel By boat. Love this place.

Every thing was awsome. Isolated from the main part of island but I liked that.

Absolutely loved Al Faro! From the moment we arrived to a welcome by two of the staff holding drinks for us to the moment we left...9 days later! We initially booked two nights but stayed for 9! We were at the end of a long trip and had been and seen many places in indo and the Philippines and Al Faro was too amazing to leave and wanted to end the travel feeling relaxed. The staff are incredible, friendly, happy and just know how hospo works. The bungalows are gorgeous (no air con but even in the height of summer we managed). No wifi in the rooms which was actually nice, forced us off our devices to read and relax. The restaurant and pool are is just magnificent. I had a massage which was in a ufo shaped bungalow which was soooo good and we did a boat trip to Lake Kayangan and the Twin Lagoon, the twin lagoon in particular was spectacular. Loved it and can't recommend this place enough!
