Lovely riad conveniently located near the Ben Youssef Madrassa. Great breakfasts served on the rooftop terrace. Tiny pool but very refreshing after a day exploring Marrakech. We all enjoyed an excellent massage in-house and had a really fun cookery lesson. Big shout out to the new manager Youssef and all his team. Nothing was too much trouble and they really looked after us.
The owner tried to increase the price of the airport taxi that was booked through them after the journey. Luckily I had proof of the price we'd agreed when it was booked 3 months earlier and the manager agreed to honour that price.

Had an amazing time. If you plan to stay in Marrakech don't go for a smart lifeless hotel. Stay in a Riad and SofYan would be a great choice. There is no car access, but was met by Naima at the drop off point, who showed us to the Riad. Having no car access was not a problem (I see it as a bonus) SofYan is 20 minutes walk from everything you need to see. Great location. The room was very comfortable, the roof terrace was a great place to have the amazing breakfast. Even managed to cool off in the pool. Naima and Malak were fantastic helping us sort out where to eat and dealing with communication for the various activities we did. The Massage was amazing and we also did the Hammam. Big thanks to Halima and Aicha. Biggest shout out goes to Khalid. He always greeted us with the biggest smile and despite the language barriers was so very helpful. Walking us, at very unsocial hours, to our various pick-up points. Thank you Mon Ami...

Staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help/assist you (even from the moment of arrival, with a staff member collecting us from the taxi to walk us to the Riad (most of the old town medina, is not accessible by car) - we felt very welcome indeed - One staff member who really deserves a mention is the young lady (whose name i don’t want to spell incorrectly) who was there everyday of our stay, her attention to detail was fab, and is a real gem to the Riad. The room was very clean and decorated to a good standard. Each morning, we had our breakfast which was plentiful and a good mix of items - again, the attentive staff already know your preferences for breakfast (which we had upstairs on the peaceful terrace - of which includes 2 additional ‘staff’ - the resident tortoises who are very cute!). But despite us on two mornings (having our breakfast late at 12pm, and another time we had an ‘adaptive’ offering considering we had already had breakfast as part of our 4am wake up for a hot air balloon trip (Definitely recommend if able as it was a true highlight!), nothing was a problem or issue. We didn’t use the spa as didn’t have time, but they have an extensive spa offering with a wide arrange of treatments, also can help organise various activities/guides for you as well if needed. Also having a bar in the Riad is helpful, as most places don’t serve any alcohol in Marrakesh. There is also a member of staff at the Raid 24/7, so even if you need something in the middle of the night, they are happy to help you. Communication is great, as once you check in, you are added to a private whats app group for your room number, which is just for you and the staff, so useful for any questions or requests you may have. They also have decent WiFi speeds (which is useful as data usage is very expensive in Morocco (and not in the usual mobile plans).
This isn’t a negative, but a consideration if you have limited walking or mobility issues (as you do have to walk approx. 5 mins from an area a car can reach you to get to or from the Riad). Most of the rooms are upstairs (but they do have one downstairs room you could request, as there are no lifts). But if specifically needed, I’m sure it won’t be an issue to request it (the Riad from the spa in the basement, to the roof terrace is 6 flights of stairs (over 5 floors).

The staff were all amazing and couldn't do enough for us - from providing water and tea to researching activities, walking us to dinner so we didn't get lost and making reservations at other restaurants. Breakfast was great, bit heavy on the carbs but that is what they eat here, so can't fault it, lots of beautiful things to taste. We felt very looked after and the rooms were all clean. Roof terrace lovely, they even gave us blankets to wear as it was chilly. Prepared a lovely meal for us. Cleaners very thorough, and the Hamman ladies were wonderful, definately have a massage with them.
Our bed was a little hard and creaky when my partner moved, so we didn't sleep all that well. Also the design of the Riad meant that noise of doors and locks travelled, but this is to be expected in this type of building.

The hotel contacted me before my journey and asked whether I needed a taxi service from the airport when I arrived, which was very helpful actually! It will be difficult to find the Riad unless you have good internet data in Marrakesh. Otherwise, take a taxi to the post office by Bab El Khemis, and then call the hotel via WhatsApp to get directions or more than likely they will come and meet you. Once we arrived, Naima welcomed us with their traditional hand wash, rose oil to keep our hands lovely, tea, and some cute homemade sweets. We enjoyed the massage, very relaxing after the long journey. Another person Malik was very friendly through the stay, helped me to arrange the cooking course, unfortunately didn’t happen in the end, due to the bad weather. The location is amazing, close to the souk and nice Bank ATM. Short walk to the museum and Madrasa Ben Youssef. As for the breakfast, it is like a feast, we fed very well by the hotel :) They also have a nice terrace where you can chill on sunbeds, and there is a little pool, but it's still March, so we can’t do anything with it; it's a bit cold.
The only complaint is they need to descale their coffee machine or use lighter roast beans, my partner really doesn’t like the coffee.

Staying at Riad SofYan & Spa was hands down one of the highlights of my trip to Morocco. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was welcomed like family. The riad itself is a peaceful haven tucked away in the Medina — beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, and full of charm. The staff truly go above and beyond. Whether it was helping with directions, organizing transportation, or simply offering mint tea with a smile, they made every effort to ensure my stay was perfect. I especially appreciated how attentive and kind everyone was — they really made me feel at home. Breakfast on the rooftop was a dream: fresh orange juice, Moroccan pancakes, fruit, and local specialties, all served in the sunshine with views over the city. I also had the chance to try their hammam and spa — an absolute must after a day exploring the souks. The location is ideal: just a short walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa and other key sights, yet quiet enough at night for a restful sleep. I can’t recommend Riad SofYan enough. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a small group of friends, this place offers the perfect mix of comfort, authenticity, and hospitality.

I had the pleasure of staying at Riad Sofiyan in Marrakesh, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional. The riad itself is a beautiful, serene oasis, with intricate Moroccan decor and a calm atmosphere that made me feel right at home. A special thanks goes to Melek, who truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. She was incredibly welcoming and attentive, delicious food she cooked, offering us great recommendations for exploring the city and making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Her warmth and professionalism made a huge difference and really elevated the entire experience.

The breakfast is served beautifully fresh every morning and the food is delicious, it's very traditional, don't expect english breakfast tea! The staff were super helpful and kind with everything we asked of them, Shorouk and Yassin were the best hosts and helped to arrange all our reservations, taxis and spa treatments. The food and drinks were always served professionally and freshly made in the Riad. The Riad is even more beautiful in person than in the pictures and immaculate everywhere you go. The spa is small, but the traditional treatments were an amazing experience and very reasonably priced.
Theres only one mirror in the bathroom which makes getting ready a little tricky as the lighting is very dark in the bedroom. Exchanging cash euros into dirham in the riad isn't really an official set-up so would recommend getting money exchanged in souks at an exchange shop instead. The pool and the hot tub aren't heated, so out of the hot season it's pretty cold but that didn't bother me.

We were met by a smart uniformed porter at the entrance to the Medina and walked through to the hotel, welcomed with mint tea and biscuits. Lovely roof top terrace where we enjoyed evening drinks watching the superb sunset and excellent breakfasts. We had dinner two evenings and the food was excellent, though service was very, very slow.
WhatsApp group for all ordering and communications, sometimes this worked very well but other times if no one was looking at the group it could take a long time to get refreshments. We booked a Deluxe room, our room was nice but not as Deluxe as expected. We pre-ordered dinner both evenings for 8pm, second evening it took over an hour before any food arrived, they apologised but no offer of any compensation for such slow service and we were the only people eating!
