Everything was very nice, lodging, food, baths, staff and service. Beautiful garden and surroundings. Best onsen hotel so far after 4 Japan trips. Kids also enjoyed the stay (8 and 4 year old). Nice town with a lot of shops, cafes and street food vendors.

Food was good and the private onsen that came with our room was nice and convenient. We called the Ryokan from a payphone at the station and they sent a shuttle to pick us up. There are 3 private onsen that people can use. The massage chair in each of the rooms was very nice for sore legs/back. There is popcorn/rice cracker popping 8pm-10pm in front of the lobby that was pretty cool. There are also onsen eggs and other snacks they provided. Fresh milk is delivered in the mornings for those that want it.

There were some bugs in the rooms. The AC units were not very powerful. There were only 2 water bottles provided. The Onsen tubs probably could have used some touch ups, the bottom was a bit rough and irritated my skin. They didn't offer a larger "public" bath like a lot of other ryokans.

It was my first time to visit this part of japan. The staff are very friendly, actually their service was excellent! There is a welcome drink/snack at the lobby, dinner is served at private setting room, same as breakfast. It was excellent meal! After we bath, we joined the lounge again, one of staff was showing us how to make popcorn from small fire pit(Hibachi). We had a lovely conversation.

My wish was the hot spring to be a bigger. There is no public hot spring which means if you/partner wanted to use it, you have to go outside to see if no one is using them. We had luck not needed to wait that long but it must be challenging during peak season. I believe some room comes with a private hot spring.

Lots of bath options, including beautifully landscaped rotenburo. Spacious room, deliciously fresh and original food. Peaceful location yet close to many of the sights.

The private rotenburo was dangerously hot - it could have caused serious scalding if we'd tried to get in. We tried running cold water to cool it down, but it took too long so we ended up using the shared baths - also lovely, but a private bath was one of the biggest reasons for choosing this ryokan so it was a little disappointing.

The service in this hotel is super. Anda, who helped us to check in, can speak good English. She walked us to our room personally and gave us a private tour of our room. Walking distance to the main street. It is a good place to relax and slow down from the city life. Provide a lot of privacy with private dining and use of onsen just with your family. There is also an open air onsen in the room. Free flow of sweet potato and eggs. I love the "living room" area next to the lobby. We can listen to Japanese songs and relax with a cup of coffee. The popcorn making creates some interaction and some fun to every guest.

Quiet, away from the bustle but close enough within 5 mins walking distance to the Lake Kinrin and Yufuin village. Although the kaiseki meal is simpler than some of the ryokans but it is good cos there’s no wastage of stuff that we wldnt eat and the food is delicious! The milk, onsen egg and sweet potatoes are bonuses!

The room with the private onsen is lovely. It was just what we need for a one night stay at Yufuin. The shuttle bus service was convenient. The meals served was lovely, especially with dinner. The beef served was in generous portion and super tender. The rest of the meal was very delicious as well. Staff was very helpful and friendly as well.

The staff was incredibly welcoming. We visited with 2 adults and 5 children and highly recommend it if you are looking for a peaceful, private, and relaxing place to stay. A special blanket and pillow were provided for our toddler along with special bath products. Oversized Yukata and slippers were provided ahead of time for my very tall husband. We were given a private dining room for the durration of our stay, and the half board meals exceeded our expectations. There was also no wait when reserving the private onsen, and both rooms we reserved came with indoor and outdoor baths. A highlight of the stay was when a team member taught us how to cook pop corn and Mochi over a fire while my children played with the provided Kendama and misc toys. Afterward, we were given roasted sweet potatoes and boiled eggs to bring back to our room as an evening snack. Everything about our stay was thoughtfully curated, from the ice cold milk bottles put out in the morning to the beautiful traditional architecture and stunning landscape views. 10/10 would recommend.

Everything was undeniably lovely.

The room we stayed was clean and cozy. Love the private outdoor onsen provided. I’m especially thankful that they could arrange to pick us up even at 10am, well before check in time. Also, there was a crowd during check out, we really didn’t expect the staff would arrange for another car to send us to the train station upon knowing that we could be late for the train. That was such a nice gesture and we truly appreciated it.

The room is so big space and have everything that you need. Our room have Onsen + massage chair + separate toilet room and shower room. The private outdoor Onsen also ur highlight. One more thing, lovely Japanese living room with great garden view just like the photo in booking.com. The scenery is just right!! The staff also great service...even though some cannot speak fluently but you can feel the high level of service mind.

Only one thing, location is suitable if you bring your car. It may near convenient store(Lawson) and not much far from travel location, but at night the path to the main road is pretty dark. Better drive out or walk with friend and flash light at night.
