I enjoyed how close it was to the Itsukushima Shrine. The property was clean and nice. I also enjoyed the dinner experience.
I was surprised that although I indicated I was travelling with kids on booking.com it didn't reflect in my booking price. The Ryoken then doubled the price we had to pay for our one night stay which was quite steep. Also the kids 12 and 9 didn't enjoy the dinner menu and would have benefited from the kids menu that my 5 yr old had. They barely ate anything and it was quite expensive as we weren't allowed to select the kids option for them.

The location was very quiet surrounded by nature and deer but only a few minutes away from the centre. Staff was exceptional friendly and helpful and the service during breakfast and dinner was excellent. We got a beautiful japanese room which was very cozy and comfortable. The food was absolutely outstanding. It was exceptionally good, of the highest quality, fantastically presented and really impressed us. Unfortunately we were only here for two nights but next time we will stay longer. We will definitely come back and highly recommend this accommodation.

This hotel had a LOT of charm. While the building was older, the interior was warm and inviting and the main foyer looked out over a beautiful pond. The rooms were spotless and the futons were comfortable. We used two for added padding at night! The meals were thoughtfully prepared and presented by extremely friendly and conscientious staff and the dishes were delicious. I liked the fact that the hotel was a little away from the main ferry and in a quieter area. Our lift from the hotel arrived quickly after we alighted the ferry. Make sure you visit the park behind the hotel, it is full of deer and the cherry blossoms were blooming when we were there. It's very pretty. The communal bath was also lovely and a relaxing thing to do just before sleep. I would highly recommend Miyajima morinoyado to anyone keen to enjoy the delights of Miyajima - the island is definitely worth a full day of your time and it's lovely to stroll the streets at night when all the day trippers have left!
Nothing.

Great Hotel to stay on Miyajima and to experience the island particularly in the morning with fewer tourists (in the evening there were still many people on the island rather long). Technically a stay on the island itself is not necessarily needed, as the ferry services (~10min from Miyajimaguchi) start quite early in the morning already and you could also stay close by the ferry terminal there. I stayed on the island primairliy to see the sun rise there, which depending on the time during the year might be outside the ferry schedule... for such a case this hotel is great. The hotel has a nice onsen, which you might need to use as some rooms dont have private showers. The staff was very friendly and very keen on somehow compensating me for missing out on breakfast (although booked) because I had to leave right at breakfast starting time for the sun rise. I was e.g. offered to take some pre-packed buns from the shop as replacement at least - so great service and staff that cares.
Sleeping in a traditional room on a futon on the ground is a nice experience and I surely don't regret booking. It was simply not the best night I had during my stay in Japan, which I kind of expected before booking. Simply something to be prepared for to avoid disappointment.

Miyajima is a beautiful place to visit, and the wider island is a paradise. You can absolutely walk everywhere you want to go, but the Ryokan does offer a shuttle from the ferryport (which we used for our luggage!) My boyfriend and I had planned to explore Miyajima town after dark, along with the floating Tori gate. I can't understate how much more impressive this was, at night and at sunrise than we had imagined. This was only possible because we were able to stay overnight on the island. The facilities are fantastic, we opted for a traditional room. This was our first experience on Tatami or using a futon bed. We found it very comfortable and easy to set up, don't be intimidated! Aside from the hotel itself, dinner and breakfast were incredible! Dinner showed off seafood from Miyajima and was delicious and filling!

Pick-up service is super convenient. The location of the hotel is great, so close to the temple. Many people come from long distances, but it's only 5 minutes away from this hotel. Room was superb, typical Ryokan experience. The futon was nice. Onsen was convenient. Prices in the market were fair. Dinner was definitely the best. I have stayed in 4 ryokans this year, but the food in this one was SUPERB! Staff in the dining room was so friendly and polite. I will definitely come and stay in this hotel again and again in my life.
Nothing at all.

We enjoyed the opportunity to try a more traditional accommodation experience with the Japanese style rooms, dressing up in our robes for dinner, and the dinner itself was really fun. It’s very traditional so we didn’t necessarily love every single item on the menu but it was great to be able to try so many dishes (including one you cook yourself) and we left feeling very full! The hotel is on the other end of town from the ferry terminal but they provide free transfers and you are very close to the shrine so great to pop out in the morning before the crowds arrive.
This might not cater so well to people with fussy palates or who prefer more Western food (although I saw you can request this in advance for children). This didn’t bother us, just worth flagging up given some of the previous reviews.

We had an amazing stay here. The location was quiet and well located. Although the hotel is a bit older, it’s extremely well-maintained and full of charm. Our room was beautiful, and the futon beds were much more comfortable than expected. We also loved the comfy yukatas provided. The public bath/onsen was small, but we had it all to ourselves when we went, which made for a peaceful experience. The included dinner and breakfast were fantastic! We requested a vegetarian meal for one of us before arriving, and it was no problem at all - the vegetarian menu was just as varied and delicious as the standard one. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. After check-out, we were able to leave our luggage at the reception for a few hours. When we picked it up, they even offered us a free taxi ride to the ferry terminal.
Be aware that it’s a bit of a (pleasant) walk from the ferry. The front door is locked at 11pm, so you need to return by then. Since we went for a night walk (which we highly recommend), we had to hurry a little to get back in time.

It’s a Ryokan style type of hotel which was what we were looking for. We included the meals and the traditional food was very good. Very polite staff. The only things we disliked was the fact that we were told to make our beds… for the price of the hotel I would expect the beds to be prepared when we were having dinner (as other ryokans do) Plus the shuttle bus has limited vacancies which get full quite fast. The time we needed was already full so we had to pay for the bus as it’s 25 min walk to the ferry station.

The hotel is situated away from the port in a quiet area just opposite the aquarium. You can see the sea from your window. We had a very nice walk towards the temple/gate in the evening after dark with hardly a person to see. Japanese kaiseki-style dinner and breakfast served at the table and was tasty. Not many options for those who would prefer western-style options, though. We requested for no meat for one of us before arrivign and that was taken into account no problem. This is a traditional japanese inn, the room was comfortable with pull-out sofa for the third person, and good value.
The hotel could do with a refresh as a little tatty, but ok and already reflected in price.
