We feel like we got the best room in the entire place—it even had a small bar area and a cozy enclosed outdoor space. There were complimentary sweets and two types of tea (green and hojicha), both of which were absolutely delicious. The main tatami room with futons was spacious, and the futons themselves were incredibly comfortable to sleep on. The bathroom featured a large hinoki bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak. Breakfast was outstanding—probably the best we've had in Japan so far. For context, this is our third visit to Japan, and during this trip alone, we’ve stayed in five different hotels. What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service. When we needed to buy some medicine and found the local pharmacy already closed, the staff went above and beyond to help us. There’s a remarkable small-town warmth among the owners and staff—an atmosphere of mutual support that felt truly special.

Too bad the dinner service was out of order because we would have loved to dine in there too!

The location of the ryokan is pretty perfect - a short stroll from the ferry port area, the famous Torii gate, shrine, beautiful beach, and shopping/dining district. Approaching the building facade, it is clearly a historic building in a neighborhood with wonderful character - and the interiors are a delightful blend of comfortable modern updates and classic ryokan style. My room was quite compact, but very nicely appointed with lovely smooth tatami flooring and futon in the sleeping area and other traditional furnishings - quite beautiful. The bathroom was fabulous - nice deep soaking tub, Japanese shower "wet room" style, super clean and modern feeling. State of the art bidet toilet. No ancient plumbing here! There was a lovely lounge/living area that I had to myself that evening that looks out onto a beautiful garden. Very classy and cozy overall. Breakfast was delicious - I'm a big fan of Japanese breakfast!

Futon are typically a bit too firm for me to sleep well on, but that's a personal thing.

Basically everything : its location, renovation (it has been fully renovated 5 years ago apparently, materials are beautiful, minimalist yet you can feel subtitle taste), especially the garden and living-room area on the first floor, all the amenities are perfect and clean. You can feel traditional Japanese vibes with a fresh newly renovated atmosphere. It feels like a contemporary ryokan. My dad was able to enjoy for his first time a traditional Japanese breakfast and it was a great experience. The staff also advised us several restaurants options for dinner, and it was indeed very nice places as well. The same staff advised/helped us with a ferry route between Miyajima to Matsuyama.

Nothing at all, it really was perfect. I want to come back. It is the first time I book a hotel online and it looks/feels better than the pictures !

This guesthouse was beautiful. It's tucked into a quiet street away from the main shopping streets on Miyajima. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The style was traditional Japanese but with some modern touches. The bathtub was nice for an evening soak as well. We were happy with our choice to stay on the island and would definitely stay here again!

I can't think of anything to improve. The room was a bit small but that's not uncommon in Japan.

This place was a perfect and an authentic stay in a ryokan. The hotel seemed to be freshly renovated. The appliances were of the highest quality and every detail was very well thought through. The interior of the room and the hotel dinning room with the little garden was exquisite. Although quite expensive at the time of booking it was well worth it. The location was also great, 4 minites away from the fast ferry stop (Hiroshima war memorial- Miyajima).

Beautiful traditional Japanese guesthouse with 8 rooms. It is about a 5 minute walk from the boat terminal. The room was small but spacious and appointed with the usual Japanese amenities and lots of little special touches. The mattress was comfortable and thicker than a traditional futon. I recommend enjoying the sitting room at the end of the corridor on the first floor. We enjoyed a local beer that we purchased from the guesthouse in there. The host is very friendly and accommodating and provides information on the island. The breakfast was very nice Japanese style meal. It was also extremely clean - I have stayed at a lot of places and this was the cleanest by far, not a speck of dust anywhere. I highly recommend staying here.

Really lovely little guest house in excellent location (near ferry, so we dropped off bags) with traditional Japanese rooms. Slightly more expensive than most hotels we stayed in Japan but reasonable for Miyajima (PS definitely recommend spending a night in Miyajima) and includes a superb Japanese breakfast. Lovely staff/owners. If stay here, recommend dinner at nearby Niwa Cafe Miyajima.

This was a very peaceful, restful place to stay. I was surprised that I felt that way, but I did. Very different atmosphere from a hotel. My daughter and I slept like rocks in the spacious room. The traditional Japanese breakfast was absolutely incredible: delicious, varied and filling. The bathtub in the room was amazing: deep and huge and made of wood. I loved it.

Nothing - this place was a real delight.

Everything. Hosts are amazingly helpful. Very clean comfortable and Japanese style rooms. Excellent breakfast. Quiet and peaceful with the small sitting room and Japanese garden. Can’t get such value and comfort.

Nothing. Just send your luggage to next destination when you travel to Miyajima. You will love the convenience. Rooms will be small for people carrying suitcases.
