What a beautiful property right at the foothills of the Catalina Mountains. I loved that the outdoor pool was heated to a very nice temp. The hot tub was nice and hot with a beautiful view. We are hikers and LOVED the Linda Vista trail that is right next door to the resort. We had breakfast every day at the hotel dinning room. The prices were very reasonable for great food served with complimentary newspapers.
room service dishes are left out too long in the hotel room hall ways. We didn't order room service but every day walked down the hall by dishes piled up by other room doors.

We love the location, scenery/grounds, the pool area with the poolside bar/ music, and great on-sight dining options and lobby/ patio bar for evening relaxing. It is close enough to the city but located outside of it in the foothills with easy access to outdoor recreation.
The hallways of the hotel section could be a little cleaner/ updated and the fitness center could use a boost but we love the el conquistador and its friendly staff. Would love if the spa offered mani-pedis.

Amazing location against the Catalina Mountains with spectacular scenery & views. The sunset! Resort layout and buildings were beautifully designed with multiple pools & welcoming patios. Staff was superb from check-in to check-out. Menu (dinner & breakfast) was creative, unique, and offered wide selection. Our room was clean & and the bed was very comfortable.
Given the design & opulence of the resort, our room was a little ordinary, and featured the most uncomfortable blue armchair imaginable with a brown "pleather" ottoman that offered little comfort. Our balcony/deck would have been a relaxing place to enjoy the view, but the stiff wooden chairs were even more uncomfortable than the chair in the room, and a huge dark stain on the concrete (our guesses kept us entertained for some time) was gross... to put it bluntly. We'll definitely be back because, overall, this is a fantastic place. But our expectations were high, and these "negatives" really stood out against all of the positives.

Super breakfast selection. Dining also was an excellent experience.. The huge art display by Diana Madaras was an unexpected bonus that really seemed to raise the quality of my stay. As a result, I made a special journey to her gallery and left with one of her works.
The room's shower was below par and the bath tub was a step back to old fashioned. Walk-in showers are safer and more aesrhetic.

Pool service was great! Restrooms were clean. The surroundings were great! Friendly staff.
The fact that our door key wasn't working 3 times because the battery for the door to enter went dead Sunday. Our room was a little bit of a travel because it was a Casta. No big deal about the Casta, just frustrating when we were having issues with our room door 3 times. Twice on Saturday and then again on Sunday. Security was able to let us in after about 15 minutes Sunday after waiting outside in the heat. Our room did have ants in the bathtub when we woke up Sunday morning. Upon arrival and entering our room it smelled like bad BO for a long time. Carpet was dirty and needs cleaning.

We were able to check in earlier than expected and were given a nice room with a private balcony and view of the pool area. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We couldn't ask for anything more. I would highly recommend this place!
I'm pretty sure the TVs in the room are not Smart TVs, so I was not able to hook up / stream our Netflix / Hulu. But that was ok. We spent the majority of our time by the pool anyway.

Property was absolutely gorgeous. Loved the Native American flutist each night and the multiple firepit seating areas. Bar was great for both drinks and food. Room was large and clean and quiet. The staff across the resort were wonderful. The Spa was really, really great, but would have been even better if it had a hot tub/whirlpool.
Coffee at restaurant and coffee shop was horrible - thankfully I brought my own and made it in with the coffee maker in the room! They don’t provide housekeeping unless you request 24 hours in advance and they didn't tell us that when we checked in. Room was dark and dated and Mountain View was over the parking lot. No cushions on the chairs on the balcony so we used the room pillows.

Location
Understaffed. The reason for staying at a resort is for the poolside service this time of year. There were not enough chairs, umbrellas, or staff at the pool over the holiday weekend. There is plenty of room to add A LOT more! I also had to clean up the countless trash as there was not enough staff or trash bins. Many of the chairs were broken. Is this hotel going under?

The views are amazing here and the staff is super friendly
The pool got closed down during our stay which was a bummer, and the facility could’ve been cleaner for the cost. But overall the stay was nice

All the facilities were to a very high standard and the hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff and the location are the real standouts at El Conquistador. The front desk, valet, restaurant & breakfast staff, poolside staff and coffee shop staff made us feel very welcome and cared for and deserve recognition. The Epazote restaurant was truly a delight, we kept going back because we loved it so much. Everywhere was nice and clean and well-kept and the views of the mountains were stunning. A memorable place to stay indeed.
I honestly can't think of any criticisms.
