First and foremost, read about Shash Dine. It is not a Sedona style resort. It is a very specific experience and you should set your expectations accordingly. It isn't really glamping, and it isn't camping. No electricity and no running water. Ok, now that that's out there we can get started. We didn't know what to expect other than what I said above. We only stayed for two nights in the Hogan. We were pleasantly surprised and loved it. Here is what we did wrong. We treated it like a regular hotel and sort of made plans to go do stuff out and about and then return to Shash Dine to sleep. The first night we realized the error in that and corrected. We did go to the Grand Canyon for the morning, as well as the Navajo Bridge and Cathedral Wash trail, but we made sure to be back to Shash Dine with a simple dinner so that we could walk to grounds at sunset. That is the move. Do your AZ national park thing, but make sure to build in time to enjoy the Shash Dine grounds. It feels like you've been invited to someone's home and that home is an amazing and beautiful swath of land... and, honestly, that is basically what it is, especially if you stay in the Hogan. Breakfast is just something to get you going, but it is an awesome area where you tend to meet and chat with the other guests. We also had a chance to chat with Baya and Paul which was awesome. We would definitely return, this time more prepared. We would also recommend it to almost anyone (we all have those friends that are too precious). We didn't do it on purpose, but we were there on a full moon. I am sure a new moon would be cool too with all the stars, but the full moon was insane. Seeing the high desert lit by moonlight is something else. You are pretty much provided with what you need. Things we had but were provided but were nice to have: flashlights, big waters, slip in shoes, camping/outdoor friendly soap.

We loved the area and the whole concept. The bedding in the sheep wagon was wonderfully comfortable and it was easy to get to the facilities at night. I think this would have been a fantastic experience if the weather had cooperated. But high winds and rain prevented us from spending the evening around a fire with the other guests at the outdoor gathering spot, so we were essentially confined to our quarters. The wind was whipping through the cracks in the wood of our restored sheep wagon, so it was also too cold in there to do anything but burrow under the covers. And since there is no eating or drinking in the wagon, our evening was altogether a rather limited one.
I was a bit surprised by the meagerness of the breakfast beverages. We were among the earlier people there, and yet the one thermos of Navajo tea was already empty, and we got the last of the coffee.

We stayed about 8 nights in Arizona and Utah to visit the national parks, and I can say that this accommodation was the most unique and interesting in which we stayed. It is an experience which must be tried. We also had a lunch served by a local and it was very good.
There is no electricity (but there is lighting from solar panels) and internet (but there is signal on the mobile phone). However, we enjoyed the view and we didn't feel the need to use internet. The light was enough for 3-4h in order to finish a board game before sleeping.

This is a very special spot on sacred Navajo land where we would otherwise have been unable to stay. Our host, Paul, was extremely welcoming upon our arrival and nicely communicative during our 2-night stay.
There’s nothing not to like as long as visitors read all of the info ahead of time and come prepared for high-end “glamping.” The Jotul fireplace was easy to use and worked like a charm with the lovely mesquite wood that was provided to make the place toasty during the frosty nights and we opted not to take “navy showers” during the cold mornings.

We stayed in a traditional Navajo hogan. The experience was amazing - set off grid a few miles out of Page. We had a traditional wood burning stove and the beds were so comfortable and cozy. Breakfast was served outside by a massive communal fire pit with traditional Navajo tea.
This experience isn’t for everyone - this isn’t 5* accommodation - this is a traditional Navajo home. Baya, our host lived in the hogen until she was six with her parents and grandparents. For us this made it extra special and a spiritual experience we’ll never forget.

We stayed in one of the tents at Shash Dine' EcoRetreat, it was amazing. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. All of the facilities are great, the hosts really attentive, the breakfast fantastic, and the views from the top of the hill overlooking the site breathtaking. The location is fantastic, in the middle of a wide and arid farm (the sheep do not invade, they are controlled by some lovely dogs!) It is a great base to travel by car during the day to all the amazing places around the area.
Nothing negative at all.

The location is great. It is close to attractions like Horseshoe Bend & Antelope canyons, city of Page, but at the same time you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The night sky was amazing. Full of stars. It is definitely worth spending some time outside to enjoy the beauty of nature. There is a short hike you can do to enjoy fascinating views of surroundings. We also ordered a dinner to be brought to us. It was actually pretty good & homemade, and the portions were huge, one would be enough for two :)

Magical experience! Although we were "glamping" in the middle of February and during a snowstorm, the woodstove in the center of the Hogan - a traditional Navajo mudhut - kept us warm and cozy. It was a real privilege to experience a night in an authentic Navajo Hogan on a property that is breathtaking. Baya and her husband spare no effort to make your experience as amazing and enjoyable as possible. If you are open to the experience and put aside the need for typical creature comforts you will be greatly rewarded.

What a lovely stay at your resort. We spent 1 night in the sheep wagon and it was georgious. We had a beautiful time and one of the most encredible nights in our live. We really appreciate the time with you guys. Also thank you very much for your recommendation on the next morning. We really drove to the sand beach and walked into the colorado river. <3
nothing, everything was great. Please keep it as it is. Once we're back in that area, we will definitely visit you again.

We adore this place! Quiet, authentic, and wonderful Navajo welcome ! The sheep wagon was just perfect, you won't be cold once you're under the covers! There is a fire place with absolutely everything to make a fire and cook! We went into Page to the Walmart to get supplies and enjoyed a wonderful evening cooking our sausages and marshmallows by the fire with THE most wonderful night sky and beautiful milky way! We loved it and would definitely return and recommend to anyone. We did 13 hotels on our trip and this was in the top two without a doubt!
