The thing that sets the hotel apart are the staff... the facilities, location, food are all as you'd expect from a quality hotel - but the staff are very good. A couple of examples: we were staying in order to attend my Dad's funeral. On arrival, the staff were alert to this - we had a hand written card from them in the room. They were sensitive and genuinely interested and concerned throughout our stay. We had non-resident guests join us for dinner and the team were extremely accommodating to their requirements - and when they asked about the hotel, the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the history. In short, they felt like they cared...

From the moment we arrived at Crathorne Hall, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The staff were polite, friendly, and incredibly attentive, going above and beyond to ensure every aspect of our stay was perfect. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and their genuine warmth made us feel truly welcome throughout. A special mention must go to Krista, who was absolutely outstanding. She took personal ownership in resolving an issue with our original booking and handled it with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency. Her proactive approach and attention to detail ensured we were fully catered for, even arranging some thoughtful gratuities that made our stay extra special. The room itself was immaculate, with excellent amenities and an impressive standard of cleanliness that really stood out. Every element—from the crisp linens to the well-appointed facilities—reflected the care and pride taken by the hotel team. Crathorne Hall is a truly beautiful place to stay, but it’s the people who make it exceptional. We left feeling genuinely cared for and will absolutely be returning in the future. Highly recommended.

The room was excellent, presented well, spacious and clean . Food quality was very good. The staff were very attentive. They were very helpful to suggest options at breakfast or in the bar. Remembered our names, drinks and asked about our day. Special mention to Byron (bar) and Martin (breakfast) who gave excellent service. Hotel was beautifully presented, not too big and felt homely despite its grandeur. Grounds beautifully kept.

The breakfast was great, very varied with a variety of digestive shots which was a nice touch. The accommodation exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, recommending various places to visit. We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and the staff went out of their way to make it a memorable occasion. We will certainly be visiting Crathorne Hall in the future.

Crathorne Hall is a beautiful property with ornate period decorations. The roomsare a good size and comfortable, and the bar and restaurant welcoming and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and attentive and the food of a particularly high quality. I was travelling alone on business and found the hotel to be very comfortable and relaxing after a long day working. If I am back this way again I will definitely be booking here.

Not much could have been any better. I was very happy.

Excellent breakfast and customer service levels.

the room had a few cobwebs and surface level dust, as well as a handful of flies that reappeared time and time again. there was a wedding function going on at the time so I suspect staff were reallocated to longer staying guests. However I had a 2 night stay and expected the very highest of standard given the cost. I do love the grandeur of the Crathorne though and a plus is its location to the Five Houses farm shop virtually next door.

The staff made our visit memorable. In particular Martin, and Tia. The property is lovely. The food was excellent. It was a pleasure to walk around the grounds. Apart from the staff, probably the best thing for us was how dog friendly it is. A lot of hotels say they are dog friendly but in reality aren't. At Crathorne Hall our two dogs were welcomed and looked after.

Beautiful period property but with modern high end finish to the rooms. Stayed there for just one night but would definitely go back. The staff were so knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. The food was exceptional both for dinner and breakfast. A real hidden gem, full of lovely people who make you feel at home.

Staff, location, and the building. Often a tricky blend to get right, Crathorne Hall hotel have achieved this blend.

On the two occasions I've stayed at CrathorneHall Hotel, Middlesbrough FC have lost matches against rivals. The previous time was when Aston Villa beat MFC 0-5. Our family Luncheon-Meet was sharing the Hotel with David Anthony O'Leary's squad. Upon hearing the result, my eldest sister enquired what the kitchen had put in their porridge that morning.

Wonderful, friendly and welcoming team. Rooms much better than the photos - spacious, clean and comfortable. Delicious breakfast. Lovely stay.

Only drawback was our room (Thornton) was next to the air conditioning unit which meant it was a little noisey. Not really a problem but that’s all o would have changed.
