We had the Superior/Deluxe King room which was massive - large comfortable bed, large space, and leather settee, along with a large bathroom with corner bath (can't lie down in it though) and separate shower. At the back of the house so no traffic noise. Breakfast was lovely - set us up well for a day's walking. Lovely pictures and interesting ornaments reflecting Mask's South African background throughout the house. Close to bus-stops which got us to Washington to walk on South Downs Way (and to/back from Worthing).

It didn't affect us as there were few bookings when we were there and we were able to park in front of the house, but there is limited on-site parking. Apparently there is easy on-street parking in roads behind the house.

I was in Worthing for three days for a small convention. Merton House was just a short walk to the venue. Within a few hundred yards of Merton House is a parade of several takeaways, including burgers, curries, Chinese and a chippie. There is also a small Morrisons. The takeaways all knew the venue and could either deliver or notify when ready for collection. Worthing station is about a 15 minute walk of Merton House and I believe that one the local buses stops not too far from Mertons. Breakfasts are available, both cereals and a full English which, I discovered, is not a small one! Mark the owner is very sociable.

I had an issue with the window locking devices which Mark showed me on my arrival. However, I think my brain switched off at that point and I tried to work them as my home windows operate, which was the opposite of how these work! When I told Mark, he reminded me and when I tried again they worked perfectly. As my Service Desk used to say, Operator error!

This was the cleanest accommodation we have ever stayed in! The room was very large with a sort of living room in it, and the bathroom had a lovely tub and shower that were immaculate. The lovely hotel-like provided toiletries were of a high quality and so nice. The innkeeper was SO accommodating. He noticed what we liked after eating breakfast and adjusted our next mornings breakfast accordingly- such attention to detail! He offered to take us to the train station when the weather was questionable and couldn’t have been any nicer and accommodating. We will absolutely stay with him again on our next trip to the South Coast!

Fabulous Breakfast - accommodated request for fruit and yoghurt, massive portions of varied fruits all freshly prepared - including strawberries, watermelon, blackberries, blueberries, peaches and lots of other fruits Room had lots of extra little touched - including bottles of water, chocolates, cotton wool balls and I was asked if I needed anything else.

Nothing - Mark was a fabulous host even offering to run me to the station

We have spent 6 nights in the Merton House with my wife. It has been very lovely time. Mark, the host, is really friendly and helpful and gave us many advices. The breakfast is amazing. Location is really great and near by the train station (10 min walk max) I recommande this place for any traveller. If we comeback to Worthing, we will definitely book there.

Lots of little extra touches in our room. Mugs and cups provided with a great selection of biscuits, bottles of water and chocolates too! Comfortable bed and spacious bright room. Breakfast was excellent each day and our host very kindly cooked just what we wanted. We were offered refreshing of our room daily and nothing was too much trouble for our host. Location was perfect for us, 20min walk into town, waterfront etc. Parking at accommodation is helpful and we were able to leave car there when we wanted to walk into town. Cannot fault this accommodation, much more comfortable than some hotels I have stayed in. Definitely worth top marks!

Shower was slow to drain but it wasn't much of an inconvenience.

I chose Merton for the location - had a ticket to the Factory Live concert and it's about a 10 min. walking. I was pleased from the place for the following reasons: the room was nicely decorated and clean - that's the basics. But Mark, the owner, went the extra mile and added small chocolates, water bottle, cookies in a personal pack, coffee accessories, and bathroom accessories, and I liked the attention to small details. Mark is a perfect host - on one hand he is personal, asked what time I wanted my breakfast and what to prepare, and on the other hand left me for my business and respected the privacy and quiet I needed. The short distance from Factory Live is a huge advantage, and Worthing itself is very nice town to have a 1-2 days trip. If I ever find myself again in this part of England, I'll sure be happy to return to Merton Guest House.

Everything was perfect!

Facilities were excellent with very generous supply of room refreshments. Room was very well appointed and comfortable. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. My host, Mark, was very accommodating providing a delicious Full English Breakfast at the early hour of 7.00am. Would have no problem in recommending to my friends.

Being on a main road the traffic might cause a problem for light sleepers.

My husband and I were made very welcome by the hosts, Mark and Hélene. The room was clean, spacious and light. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast room overlooked a lovely little garden. We enjoyed our stay at Merton House and will definitely consider visiting again when next in the area.

The location was ideal for me as it was a short and direct walk from Worthing Station. It was great value for money, and the owner was very accommodating even allowing me to use the guest lounge after checking out to wait for my train home in comfort. I'll definitely be coming back

If you're looking for peace and quiet I will warn the guest house is situated on a main road, which didn't bother me but may not suit all
