A wonderful old inn full of character and sensitively modernised to provide comfortable facilities. The inn lies along a country lane surrounded by fields and cottages. Only a short distance away and glorious walks in The Mendip Hills. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and well furnished. The bar and dining areas were cosy and what you’d expect and hope for in an old inn - wood fires, stripped wooden tables and candles. There is a delightful terrace for drinks especially in the evening sunshine. The menu is simple with a couple of twists. The service is excellent. Everything from the reception to bar and table service. Everyone was well turned out, friendly and efficient. I stay in many pubs and hotels and this is amongst the best I have visited in forty years.

I would have preferred table service for drinks but the I never had to wait long at the bar.

The breakfast was exceptional. Quality ingredients really well cooked, presented and being of great value. We had the full English and eggs royale. but actually one could choose from a seemingly infinite choice of offerings, so there is something for everybody. We also recommend the restaurant where we ate a great evening meal. The hotel interiors were lovely, with the perfect ambience for the time of day, year and location making eating here a kind of special occasion. Overall the accommodation was perfect for us and is on the list for a return.

We found that a table where we first sat down for breakfast was a bit wobbly, We were helped to find another spot. We came down late - I wish I could have stayed longer having this superb breakfast. The shower was awkward to operate, just be aware of hot water.

Top top place to stay. Probably the most welcoming hotel/pub venue I know of and I travel frequently.

Absolutely love this place, this is our go to place to stay and eat before heading off on holiday from Bristol airport. Samir, Luke and the team are so welcoming and make you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. The rooms are excellent, as is the service and food. Unfortunately for us our flight was cancelled the day before but we decided to travel and stay here anyway as planned. Amazing food and great beer. See you again in May and September!

Our 2nd stay at the Swan, the last being in June 2021. If anything this stay was even better, took advantage of a good rate to have a one night pre Christmas break in a Signature Plus room. The rooms are lovely and spacious, warm, cosy with a coffee machine. kettle, cookies. A big TV, watchable from bed and DAB radio to chill to. The shower room is huge and well planned. Very comfortable bed. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast - all excellent, with the complimentary drinks on arrival very appreciated. Staff are friendly, efficient and obviously proud of the inn. We will be back again!

I wanted to take a moment to share our delightful experience at the Swan In at Winscombe. The room was incredibly comfortable, and the staff went above and beyond with their friendliness, making us feel right at home. The service was top-notch, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We're already looking forward to making this an annual event, as it truly was a memorable outing. Even our doggies had a fantastic time and enjoyed the entire experience. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable, and we can't wait to return next year!

Absolutely lovely place. Spotlessly clean, one guest has a fear of germs and struggles to stay in hotels/b&bs and hasn't done so for over 10 years, but she was completely comfortable here and enjoyed her stay. The two men at the bar were wonderful to talk to and were funny. They deserve a raise (management take note!) The bed was huge, perfect as both my partner and I are lanky. Overall, it was a perfect stay and would happily come back.

The mattress was a little hard, but did not affect sleep.

Fabulous stay at this wonderful country inn, staff are so welcoming and friendly from manager to bar staff and house keeper, given a welcome drink on arrival and shown to room which was perfect. We were in a double room facing the front, room is quite compact as it’s an old inn and in keeping with age of the property, it was beautifully decorated with quality bedding and really comfortable bed. Had kettle and coffee machine with milk and drinks supplied in room, bathroom was fab with lovely fluffy towels and huge walk in shower with great pressure, rooms are really well looked after as is the whole place. This is an old historic inn and retains all its character, beautiful from the outside and inside is kept great too. There are larger rooms if required which are separate from the main building and these too are lovely with table and chairs outside for you to use. Breakfast is superb with a great range of items to pick from, everyone was really impressed with choice and quality. We had an evening meal twice and I’d recommend booking as it does get busy, again food was very nice. We loved it, it’s not just the great accommodation but the general atmosphere and welcome you get from all the fab staff that make it the perfect place to stay. The Inn is perfect for visiting Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole and surrounding areas. Thank you so much to everyone, we are already looking to book another stay!

The staff - from the point we arrived to the moment we left they were excellent. Helpful, friendly and polite. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival and then even a tea or coffee for the journey when we left, both of which felt like they had gone above and beyond our expectations. The room - beautifully decorated, comfy bed, good shower, coffee machine, lovely toiletries, extra touches like a pillow spray and home made biscuits. The pub - lovely atmosphere and decor, great food and excellent coffee at breakfast The location - peacefully set in the hills with a stunning walk through the mendips that was the perfect end to our day, then very close to Bristol Airport when we had to leave.

If you want to stay at a perfect example of an English country pub, then choose this. It's a beautiful pub in a lovely country location that serves excellent food. The staff were extrmely helpful and kind, the room was lovely (and had a very comfy bed). The location is great for lots of walks, visiting local places (Cheddar Gorge, Bristol, Weston etc) and has a great English countryside vibe. We only stayed one night because we had a flight to catch early the next day, so the place is also handy for the airport, although you'd never notice, as it was so peaceful there.

Absolutely nothing. Seriously, everything was spot on. Great food, great vibe, lovely location and really nice staff.

When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff and offered a complimentary drink of our choice. The room was beautiful and clean. We loved the toiletry products and the fact that there were sealed bottles of water in our room. We had recently stayed in a pub which was only slightly cheaper and the Swan Inn was far superior. The food was good quality and the service was excellent. The verandah and gardens are very pretty, set in picturesque countryside and a quiet location.

A box of tissues in the room would be helpful. It was extremely hot when we stayed (almost 30 degrees) and although a fan was supplied, it was ineffective. There are no opening windows, so it would improve the experience if good quality air conditioning was installed.
