Fabulous historical building where Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip stayed frequently when it was a private house. Sympathetically restored in keeping with the era of the building, excellent job id say. Particularly loved how they have taken details from the uncovered ceilings and translated them into the carpets and other details. If you appreciate historic houses, then I recommend staying here for sure. Beautifully kept grounds and gardens from manicured lawns to wonderfully wild areas for bees. The rooms are spacious and clean with huge, very comfortable beds, modern bathrooms and wonderful views of the gardens. The team of people who work there are a credit to the hospitality industry from the restaurant manager to the housekeeping team. You can tell they take pride in everything they do. The food was delicious both for breakfast and dinner. Nothing was too much trouble. In fact I loved it so much I stayed longer than planned with so much to see around the area ... I will definitely be back.
Everything was great.

Service was very good at the hotel which is set in beautiful mature grounds. The building itself is interesting and comes with a fascinating history including royal connections. Comfort levels are high and the overall environment is very relaxing. There is lots of parking.
Whilst accepting that this is a quality hotel which needs to cover its overheads, some of the drinks prices seemed excessive. We also felt that whilst the food was reasonable, and in a few cases good, it didn’t consistently match the standard of the surroundings in which it was served.

We enjoyed it :orange juice was refreshing and coffee was good and plentiful. All the better for the china cups. I began with a dainty dish of home-made granola with yogurt and fruit compote. It was delicious. I then had the English breakfast which was tasty and well presented. My husband enjoyed avocado on crumpets. We both enjoyed brown toast with creamy butter. Tables were well spaced and we loved the view of the gardens.
No criticisms. Service was friendly and efficient. Room was spacious and immaculately clean. Hotel decor was bright and uplifting It was a perfect place to stay after a long day at Glyndebourne and we would return to this hotel again..

Excellent Breakfast, served , no buffet! Plenty of choice and delicious large croissant. Haddock also good. Large room facing garden which was effectively private as no one else close by. Comfy bed and plenty of tea an biscuits Taken to room by receptionist Lovely Grounds and garden with plenty of places to sit in or eat outside.
Minor gripe was that the room was cold. Heating not on. It was 1st June but a cold night. Coupled with the draught from the garden door and a window we could not close... At this price level, heating should be available when needed not by date! No one to meet us or take luggage. Receptionist was very friendly but spoiled the arrival impression by asking for full payment in advance - the booking was secured by credit card. No water in room - I think it was a mistake- which is needed as tap water is chlorinated.

What a beautiful property and setting! The grounds were so pretty and peaceful and perfect for my young dog and I to explore. We sat in the garden watching the sun go down, listening to the evening birdsong and drinking a lovely glass of wine. The food was excellent as was the wine list. The staff were all lovely, attentive and very accommodating and made me along with the dog feel very welcome. The room was lovely and large and it was a lovely touch that they put a little bed and bowls in there for the pup too! So sweet. I would definitely recommend and return.
Not a lot to dislike to be honest. The food service at dinner was a little slow - I think because we were a bit out of sight. But nothing that would cause annoyance! Also a shame that the spa facilities are not on site which meant I couldn’t use them easily, nobody’s fault but something to bear in mind they are 1.5 miles down the road, so not ideal if you don’t have your own transport.

The food was excellent and the grounds were beautiful and superbly maintained. The staff were generally very attentive and keen to help.
We were allocated a room in the category below that which we had booked. We only realised this after we had settled in. When questioned on this, the receptionist told us there wasn't much difference. When challenged that I had paid more, I was offered two free drinks. I felt that this was something that could have been handled better and certainly with more willingness to apologise and compensate.

We had a very comfortable one-night stay. Place was fautlessly clean; staff attentive without being obtrusive; we appreciated the additional touches of beautiful, individually designed suites with quality furniture and furnishings, books and free newspapers. Food was excellent.
I would have liked to have seen fresh fruit on the breakfast menu, and a garnish of some vegetables or fruit on our evening shared platter, which was otherwise very good quality. Bathroom shower had a flaw in the design but it wasn't a major problem.

Location was good, easy to find with SAT Nav. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good quality and more than sufficient quantity. Bedroom was spotlessly clean. Bedding was excellent. Bed a little high for me (short person) but once on was very comfortable. Choice of pillows to cater for different tastes (firm, softer, bouncy etc) Coffee and tea making facilities good and biscuits were lovely! We were on the second floor, very quiet but a set of small narrow stairs to negotiate down to first floor then wide generous stairs to ground floor. We were able to use the lift, tiny but adaquate for up to 4 people.
Nothing really and I'm sure if we'd found something a member of staff would have probably sorted it with a smile and apology!!

Beautiful building set in lovely setting. We arrived early evening to a pianist playing which was so nice. Staff were excellent - very attentive and helpful. We had two dogs with us on this trip and the room was set up with two mats, two sets of bowls and doggy bags which was a nice touch. We ate in the restaurant and had a really tasty and enjoyable meal. Having stayed at both Alexander hotel and Ashdown Park hotel as comparisons I would thoroughly recommend staying here and will certainly visit again.
Everything was very nice. Perhaps our bed was a bit soft but I do prefer a hard mattress normally.

Nice quiet hotel, convienent for our trip. Staff were efficient. The opportunity to use the pool/spa facilities down the road was nice. The room was clean and the drinks/biscuits provided in the room were good.
Hoovering/cleaning in an adjacent room started just after 7am, which disturbed the peace a little bit. The wifi connection didn't work for me nor my wife. The bath was very small, particularly for a 'junior suite'. When we returned to the hotel in the evening, I couldn't find any members of staff, so didn't get a drink before bed (which I would have done otherwise).
