Overnight stay to visit family nearby . Lovely old pub , arrived later than expected so unable to eat , kitchen closes at 9pm , but food being served and eaten looked really good. Room was in the attic, once I managed stairs the room was very nice , lots of lovely little old worldy touches to match the theme of the room which had authentic original beams . Acess to bathroom had a very low door access but well marked with a warning of low headroom , my hubby is 6ft and managed without bumping his head . The room had a fridge with mini bar, coffee maker and kettle and variety of coffee pods and tea milk etc. Plus water and glasses on table in bedroom. Dyson fan which we needed as room was really warm . All linen and towels lovely and clean , bathroom had crisp white robes , and beautiful ESPA toilettries. Breakfast included , full and continental with good variety of choice, service quick and efficient . We both had Full English I had an issue with my eggs (poached ) which were a little undercooked for me , mentioned to server and breakfast was replaced and staff so apologetic . Hubby had scrambled egg no issues . Breakfast was hearty and delicious . Definitely found a nice little gem , great atmosphere, friendly ,courteous and helpful staff , good bedrooms. Great location 1hr from London and 9miles from Aldershot . Would definitely reccommend.
I have mobility issues so although the attic room was lovely ,it was really difficult for me climbing two flights of stairs . It was only room available due to late booking (that evening )we couldnt change as we checked in later than expected so all other rooms were occuppied . We have noted rooms on lower floor and will request one of these next time. Given the above was our failt there was nothing to really dislike that couldnt have been sorted .

Automatic 12.5% service charge in the restaurant is highly undesirable. Would much prefer them to allow me to decide on how much I leave as a tip. Of course it is possible to ask them to change the bill, but in practice this is hard to do without feeling somewhat churlish and throwing a negative light on the proceedings. Even in America you generally have the opportunity to DISCRETELY decide on the percentage to leave. Large chips were undercooked IMHO. This did not detract from a pleasant meal.

Absolutely lovely pub/hotel .. the decor , the rooms, the bar and restaurant were all fantastic and so were the staff. We had a nice welcome and loved our room with all the beams and a huge bed. We parked in a bay on the high street outside but I understand that there is a car park at the rear ( you may need to pay) There was some street noise ( we had the window open) but that is to be expected and wasn’t bad. The drinks and the dinner were great. We will definitely be back .

Lovely pub with rooms. Great menu choices and both food and drink quality was very good. The staff were all very happy, friendly and chatty. The decor was very fresh and the bed linen was very nice with a comfy bed. In room facilities were good, water, nespresso coffee etc, nice toiletries. Definitely somewhere I'd be happy to go again.
Room slightly small but limited by the building. I prefer eggs for breakfast and it's just continental but there was still more than enough and it was good quality.

Lovely welcoming pub with a very nice bar and restaurant. V busy for a Tuesday night so is obviously popular. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with a really nice bathroom, big bed and some nice extras such as bathrobes which was appreciated. Dinner was very good.
Breakfast was adequate if a little limited, a greater choice of fruit especially would have appreciated!

The Red Lion was nothing but perfect from the moment you walked through the door. The staff were welcoming and very polite throughout our stay and its interior was beautiful. Our room was lovely and provided a comfortable bed great shower room and top amenities plus coffee and tea. We ate at the restaurant area within and the food was top class and that included breakfast the next day. Not a bad thing to say about this ideal place for an overnight stay of just to eat at

Meeting up with a friend for the weekend, and we were lucky to be allocated neighbouring rooms (Hunter & Javelin) which are nextdoor to each other and off a little corridor, so it felt really private and like we weren’t disturbing other guests! The bathroom is fantastic and has lovely Espa products and a great walk-in shower. Plenty of white towels plus a couple of bathrobes. The room has a cool and funky décor, and a fab cupboard/wardrobe which also acts as a bar, with a fridge (+ mini bar) and a great coffee/tea machine. Breakfast next morning was fabulous.

Really lovely rooms. Spacious and modern with a really comfy bed and lovely bathroom. The staff were helpful and really friendly. We had a front bedroom overlooking the high street but didn't hear any noise.
It was disappointing that the pub didn't do food after 6pm on a Sunday evening and for a hotel that's a surprise. There is another pub next door but they were fully booked. The breakfast was only continental, which we weren't expecting either. The room wasn't expensive and we would rather have paid more for a cooked breakfast included. Especially given that I saw breakfast menus the night before in the pub so presumably they do offer breakfast to paying customers on some days of the week.

Our bedroom was well appointed with good facilities and we liked the decor. Lovely friendly and efficient staff - nothing too much trouble and all our queries answered.
The bed wasn't as comfortable as I would have expected - maybe just me as I found it a bit too firm. The room we had overlooked the main street, so was noisy first thing. I would prefer one of the rear rooms another time. Inadequate bathroom storage - nowhere to put toiletry bags etc

The beds and pillows were really comfortable. The soft furnishings and decor were very well done. And the toiletries were lovely
We usually opt for a quieter location but our visit was for a family funeral so we wanted to be close to the family. The bedrooms faced the street and up until 23:00 there were people sitting outside having an enjoyable evening. If you go to bed early this may be a problem, but we didn’t as we had a lovely Italian across the road . Once we got to bed the noise level were quiet with only the occasional passing car. All in all it worked very well for us
