The all-in package included breakfast and dinner. Dinner was fantastic and exceeded expectations both in terms of quality and content. Much of the produce was locally sourced and the choices were genuinely a la carte. Compliments to the chef! Service was also excellent. Breakfast was very good. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and it was great to walk out of the front door into the heart of Machynlleth on market day. Free parking at the rear of the hotel was a bonus as it can be a headache at some places
The Wynnstay is a charming old hotel and has bags of character but it's fair to say that our room and bathroom, although clean and comfortable, did look somewhat 'tired' and in need of an update.

Accommodation was dated in the bedrooms, bathrooms especially could do with some tlc, but everything worked as it should have done and was comfy and pleasant on the whole. The breakfast was tasty although not huge selections but was enough to set you up for a day. Staff were all very friendly and polite, pub atmosphere downstairs was really nice, clearly quite popular with the locals too.
Rooms could do with a little updating over time and bathroom we had could do with some tlc but nothing was broken, everything worked and was overall very nice to stay in.

What makes it exceptional is the Head chef Gareth Johns who has won numerous awards and has been resident chef for many years.and A great kitchen team. Hotel is a listed old coaching inn, so winding stairs, some sloping floors.,old massive fire places and quality furnishings to match good bedroʻoms and public rooms. Very good modern separate shower and bath. Throughout your stay Staff keen to assist you. Air conditioning are the Windows that open rather than the ice chiller blast sadly favoured by many hotels if not by their guests..
You should ask for assistance with your luggage on stairs. Staff happy to do this. If you have large case or infirm make sure you ask.

Very comfortable olde world room with probably a very ancient beam across the ceiling. The room was a comfortable temperature. the bed really comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee
Would have liked a full length mirror in the room to check I looked fab before going out 😄. Came back to hotel at 11.10 pm to find it all looked up. We did have a front door key. But we thought we'd have a brandy before bed . But bar shut. I was surprised to find a hotel bar shut so early. The staff were very pleasant and friendly.

Keeping it real. Good chef (a long way from pub grub). Friendly & caring staff. Comfy bed, clean, warm spacious room. Reviewers seem obsessed with things being “dated”. You’re visiting Mach !! Shoving perfectly functional stuff out to landfill to be swanky isn’t really the vibe. You can tell the quality of the owners from the demeanour of the staff. It’s a happy place, relaxed but caring and genuine.

Was a great stay. There has been a slight hiccup though, as booking have messed up (not the Wynnstay) in the fact I definitely booked for 2 people in one room at a certain price only to be told on arrival that they were only expecting one person so I had an extra charge when I arrived. Not the fault of the hotel, but of Booking. So I’m a bit upset by that

Good central location in Machynlleth. Room was a nice size with a comfortable easy chair. The in room tea/coffee box was well above average . Staff were very pleasant throughout and the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon were excellent for breakfast.
The bathroom was a little dated and cramped. The 'television' was little more than a tablet.

It’s history in itself and all of North Wales, including one of the powerful families. Properties such as this must continue to thrive so need our support. The atmosphere is of its time, the staff are all superb and welcoming and helpful. The location in town and for touring is spot on. Food is excellent. Nothing to fault.
A few knocks and grazes on the building but that is history and character.

The Wynnstay was a 1 night stopover and we wished we’d had a few nights to stay. There are so many nooks and crannies inside we would have loved to sit in all the different areas. The staff member Rhian was so friendly and helpful and gave us some great tips for our forward journey. We also met a couple at the bar to chat to. Highly recommend a few nights here. Jo and Jacko
