The location is unbeatable, within walking distance of a wide variety of activities (museums, sightseeing, shopping, theatres...) and with a wide range of transport options on the doorstep. This was my third stay at the hotel - the first, was some years ago when it was the Amba, this was the second year running as the Clermont. I asked for the same room if possible and was very pleased to get it. The Studio room is very spacious, the bathroom well laid out, the bed very comfortable. Having a sofabed so I can put up friends for the night is a great plus and the free mini-bar is a nice extra. The great view is another bonus. Service is consistently good in all departments. The restaurant is a beautiful setting, the breakfast buffet is very good and the food in the restaurant is good too, although the menu could do with some variation - it was exactly the same as last year.

The only problem is that if you're on the Trafalgar Square/Charing Cross side of the hotel,there's quite a lot of noise from the street, particularly from buskers so loudly amplified that the double glazed windows don't block the sound. This can go on until late at night, which is quite annoying, and unfortunately the hotel can't do anything about it (ruling from the local authority). Rooms on the other side of the hotel will be quieter, but if you want the view, you have to put up with the noise.

Room was spacious, quiet, and clean. The location was fantastic and in walking distance of Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Soho & Theatre District, etc . Dinner before a show at the hotel restaurant was delicious and the view of the Strand was amazing! We will definitely stay here again.

Staff are exceptional, polite, friendly, helpful. Location perfect for walking to Westminster, Covent Garden etc. Shower was lovely, nice shower and hair products, room clean and nicely appointed. Complimentary mini bar a nice touch with soft drinks and snacks. We overlooked The Strand so the view was good. Definitely order breakfast from the menu rather than the buffet, excellent poached eggs etc. Loved the lights up the staircase at night! Birthday chocolate cake a lovely surprise! 😊

Surprised the Delux room didn’t offer complimentary cosmetic cotton pads/buds , body lotion or dressing gowns/slippers. One loose floor tile in entrance to bathroom, not a problem but noticeable. Quite noisy at night from traffic/sirens/ people. Lifts not sufficient for amount of guests, we often gave up to use the stairs, even when checking out with our cases. Breakfast buffet, a bit on the cold side, bacon chewy and egg yolks cooked through. Difficult to get this right though! Cooked to order menu a must.

The people at reception and the concierge were all so professional, helpful and nice. Housekeeping kept my room spotless and as neat as a pin. I had a small refrigerator in my room and it was stocked daily with bottles of water, soda and snacks. Breakfast was included in my room rate so I asked room service bring it early every morning so I could get a jump on the day. The location was perfect to see all the major sights in London either by walking or by taking the Charing Cross or Embankment underground. I will definitely recommend this place!

Hotel was lovely, room was lovely

Unfortunately being on top of the tube station we could hear the rumble of tube trains throughout our stay. Wasn't loud enough to prevent sleeping but I could see it would be an issue for some. Also due to a bit of what I feel was a language barrier when ordering food in the bar, I was presented with the wrong dish even though I was quite specific over what I was choosing, however the staff member was very apologetic and after a short wait I was given the correct meal which was delicious. We were also given 30% off the food bill for the little blunder which I was more than satisfied with so overall not much to complain about

The hotel is beautiful and is centrally located. It's right near two train stations, which is perfect for sight seeing. Staff was attentive. They held our luggage and brought it directly to our room before we were able to check in. Every morning if you requested a wake up call, they followed up by knocking on your room door. That was a nice touch! Very nice amenities such as robe, slippers and beautiful toiletries.

The room was located in the 2nd building so it required taking two elevators. Not easy with luggage. It was not near the front desk at all and we booked it 6 months in advance. I was wondering if you book on line through Expedia or Booking.com, if they give you the rooms furthest from the front desk. The air conditioner was very weak. Lighting was not the best, two lamps in our room were out.

The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Great location, right next to the train and tube station. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable so we slept really well. The room was well insulated and quiet. And the food at dinner in the restaurant was very good, as was the service.

The only disappointments were that the room was very cold and the thermostat didn't seem to work - increasing the heat setting had no effect. The bed had adequate covers to keep warm while sleeping and we were only there for two nights, so we didn't bother to report it. I'm sure they would have addressed it. The only other issue was that the poached eggs we ordered for breakfast were completely cold when they came to the table. This was true both mornings. Otherwise, the breakfast buffet was OK.

The hotel was great, beautiful building and a comfy, large and clean room. There is a Starbucks inside the hotel. The bar was nice. The afternoon tea was absolutely amazing. The location right next to Charing Cross Station was great, too, for a short city trip. Unfortunately, the night clerk at the reception was unfriendly and unhelpful. He gave off the impression that the guests were a nuisance and that he would very much prefer to not be talked to during his shift though that’s his job as a receptionist, even if it's the night shift. He also did not treat the cleaning/ room service staff respectfully.

Location superb on The Strand close to Trafalgar Square and Theatres , Covent Garden Leicester Square , Piccadilly , and Whitehall Parliament Downing Street The Eye Buckingham Palace The Mall etc all in easy walking distance. Good food nicely appointed rooms and easy access to the Underground and mainline stations
