For a hostel, it's remarkably clean. The kitchen and common area are pretty nice and lively, and they offer free walking tours and whisky tastings in their own bar. There's a locker for your things that you lock with a personal code, and it's pretty easy to climb into the pods. Bathrooms and showers are big and clean.

Mixed dorms. There should be an option to have female/male only dorms. I got stuck with three guys in the dorm that made a snoring competition during the night.

Excellent location, very central on the royal mile. Close to shops, main attractions, and bus tours. Very helpful staff. Very good breakfast.

Only 2 washers and 1 functional dryer (out of 2) for the whole place. Squeaky floors even when we try to be quiet. In general the bathrooms are clean but many times housekeeping falling behind.

I had an amazing experience here. During check-in, I was informed that a "Taste of Scotland" experience would take place that evening. The person who hosted it was absolutely wonderful! I got to try some delicious, typically Scottish treats and learned a lot of funny and interesting facts. The pods themselves are very comfortable to sleep in, and the staff is incredibly friendly! The location of the hostel is fantastic and bathroom facilities were always clean and very practical! The lights in the room were also a bonus, very nice! Only positive remarks from me! :)

- I've stayed here a few times, as it has an excellent location, friendly atmosphere, and it feels safe for a place that sees so many people come and go. - Considering it is a capsule-style hotel, it is comfortable. You'll still probably get woken up by your neighbours if you're a bit of a light sleeper, but everything is done to try and make you as comfortable as possible.

- The new restaurant seems to need to figure out a more efficient training system for its young staff: I had to repeat my order three times to a waiter, it took +15 min to get breakfast several of the days I was there, and the order was wrong a few times. I stopped trying to have breakfast there after a couple of days. - The bathroom (showers) could use a little bit more cleaning on the ground floor.

Loved this hostel. The pods were comfortable and private. The locker was big enough to fit a suitcase and a backpack. There was also a little cubby for shoes and hooks in the room for jackets/costs. Charging pods in the pods, as well as a rail, hook and shelf. The bathrooms were large and clean. Shower pressure wasn’t overly strong, but did the job. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The café downstairs was nice and guests were offered a discount. Great location - so close to everything. There was a lift and they offered luggage storage. Room access was with a code which was helpful - didn’t need to remember to bring a key with you

Very clean, helpful staff, no major issues with noise (although there was noise coming from the street due to its central location), walkable distance to the Royal mile, Edinburgh castle, museums and main places of interest, and the pods with the curtains provided a sense of privacy

Some ad hoc maintenance in the communal areas were needed (ie in women’s toilets) but staff were addressing the issues. It would be nice if there was a kitchen or a lounge. The size of the dorm was small, with very little space to walk around. I paid £65 per night in a 6-bed mixed dorm, so definitely expensive for a hostel but it’s likely that the price was higher than usual due to high demand, coz I visited on Easter.

This is the way hostels are suposed to be . Extremely clean, nice smell and ventilation in rooms,showers were spacious, I had perfect hot showers, lockers in room were super safe with digital code system and the courtain in your bed gives you some privacy. Usb plug makes it easier if u dont have a uk adaptor, lights in bed were well designed to ppl dont see if you ate changing behind the courtain, for example. Also, staff couldn't be friendlier. Speacial thanks to Aimee who took the time to explain every single possible tour around . I would definitely recommend anyone who is unsure of staying in a hostel, cause this one is definitely different from others. Best stay ever 🫶

I wish there was a kitchen so the trip can be cheaper and healthier as we could have cooked our own meals, but other than that, hostel was excellent.

I would not recommend this hostel to anyone who is looking for quiet. Perhaps in the off-season it’s better, but if you have anyone else in your room who is not very intentionally quiet, you will have a hard time sleeping. The doors (and lockers) slam unless you guide them closed. You can hear footsteps from the floors above. All this through earplugs. The front desk folks are amazing and went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. I really appreciate it. They are why I’m giving this place an 8 instead of lower. The only common spaces are the check in room & the kitchen. Loud upbeat music is playing most of the time so if you’re looking for a more relaxed place to sit outside of your room, there isn’t really that option. Kitchen is good, 2 stove tops, one small sink. They compost!!! Rooms are small. Aside from the beds, lockers and small walking space there isn’t any other room. I stayed on the LG floor which is below ground. There are two high small windows. Only one of which is visible unless you move behind the beds. So, knowing this place used to be a prison, in combo with the pods & limited natural light, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone who is potentially claustrophobic. I’m not and this was still difficult for me. Cleaners come soon after checkout so if anyone is still in the room sleeping it becomes very difficult to do so. They don’t seem to respect the space of the guests. Doors and lockers slam, vacuume hits the side of beds, lights turn on and are left on. I understand cleaning has to happen, but it’s done in a way that does not acknowledge or respect that these are rooms people are still living in. Clean, comfortable beds. Nice staff. Central. But not the place if you’re looking for quiet.

Traveling as a couple, my wife and I, the experience was great in many ways (we were apprehensive, but people were generally respectful). Comfortable capsule, had a curtain, cell phone cable socket, light, towels that we had to rent separately, in the room there was a locker with a password to store luggage, large bathrooms with several showers and mirrors (my wife loved it). Super cozy and welcoming kitchen, we bought food at the market and always came back to eat at the hostel. Location, the best possible, close to everything and within several tourist attractions. Great Internet.

Just a guest who behaved strangely, closely watching every movement, trying to invade privacy, conversations. Remembering that we don't have much privacy in a capsule room. It would be good if guests at check-in were reminded to respect each other's individuality and space so that there is no this type of embarrassment.
