The George and Dragon is in an excellent location, just a few minutes' walk from the City Centre. The interior looks well loved and the decor is in good order. For this night I was in a single room which was still roomy enough for my needs. Although the place is located at a busy road junction the room itself was quiet. The bed was comfortable and the shower good; as I am over 6 feet tall, I had to lower my head to fit beneath the shower head.
Having arrived by car, I noted that the car park was fairly tight to get around and although I got a space, it looked like there may be times when I might not.

Having booked a single room here for the previous night, I was booked in for two further nights and for these nights I was given a superior room with a double bed and a single, so no shortage of space! Many thanks to the reception staff for the upgrade! Again, the room was quiet and comfortable, and having an electric fan was a bonus. As before, the access to the City was easy. The shower in this room was really good!
As with my previous stay, I was always in fear of not getting a parking space - the car park is available for public parking as well as guests.

Mohsin gave us a lovely welcome and help. We are elderly and he gave us the room at the top of the stairs and help with my bag. The hotel is just outside the Roman city walls and a short walk into the centre. Parking the car was easy too, and Moshin registered it for us to allow us to park for free while we stayed. We didn't need it for the duration of our stay. We liked Chester very much. I can't believe I have waited so long to visit. We were lucky to have some of the sunniest weather of the year so far.
The main thing is that a busy road runs around the hotel. We always travel with ear plugs, but the room was double glazed so we didn't use them, but there is a lot of traffic. The room was fine, not luxurious, but warm and comfortable. We slept well, but we had done a lot of walking.

We liked the proximity of the city centre. Just a short walk underneath a subway and we were in the thick of all the restaurants and shops. The hotel used to be a Greene King place but had been taken over. The rooms were very clean and looked recently decorated. You got a kettle with sachets of coffee and tea, sugar, milk and some biscuits. Also a TV. There was no food included but as there are so many eateries close by it didn't matter. The owners are taking the bar out and replacing with a cafe. The owners were very pleasant and knocked on the door the second morning we were there to see if we wanted anything, which was nice. On the downside, there was no rubber, non-slip bath mat even though the sticker over the bath said to ask for one. All the stickers were still the old Greene King ones, so we went out and bought one. We are 68 and 70, so any slips could be detrimental. The clientele all seemed of an older age group, which was nice. The exterior of the hotel still has the old signage, such as ' karaoke and live music' etc, but I guess this will go eventually. Other than that, it has the old Tudor look about it which was nice even if it wasn't authentic. The website stated that we would be asked for a £50 deposit and photo id on arrival, but that wasn't the case. Maybe that was a throwback from previous owners too. All in all it was a pleasant stay.

My experience staying here was absolutely wonderful and safe. The staff was always ready to help at any time of the day, making me feel so supported. It truly felt like home. As a student at the University of Chester, the location couldn't have been more perfect—it's nearby and within walking distance, which is super convenient for classes. The rooms were cleaned perfectly, and the overall environment was so welcoming and well-maintained. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable and student-friendly accommodation!
Just wished to have a charging socket at the bedside. Otherwise, everything was good.

The room was spacious plus it had a bath bonus for a muscle soak night before the half marathon
There was nobody around most of the time plus nowhere too sit outside once checked in there was work going on in front of house for a burger venture but on the advertisement we thought it had a bar / social area but obviously changed hands as the front house was also undergoing a transformation from once a bar too just a lounge which wasnt available too use neither ! I would go back when both areas are finished too see how it's altered

A lovely building which has recently been taken over and has been refurbished. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The cafe has been nicely renovated and the food was fantastic. The staff were really friendly and helpful.
The room could do with a few refinements - nothing drastic but little things like drink coasters & a non slip mat for the shower. The toilet needs fixing more firmly to the floor.

Location, short walk into town, five minute walk to the hustle and bustle
Nothing I didn’t like. I’d prefer check in a little earlier or until later. 3pm is late but then 10pm is slightly to early. We were okay to come back from our plans to check in and then went back into town. It is under renovation so this may not be something that is usually an issue

The location is perfect and it's a lovely building. The guy who checked us in was lovely and it was overall a very good experience as the room was quaint and comfortable extremely clean with a decent sized ensuite bathroom.
Unfortunately it wasn't noted on booking.com there were renovations going on for the pub part. Which was a shame and one morning we were woken up by lots of noise at 7am and tbh I would've given it higher but that was quite annoying.

It's closeness to the centre of Chester making access easy. We also found the free carpark perfect. It was easy to find the Hotel as it was on a main route into the city.
A second chair would have increased our comfort in the room. Larger cups holding a minimum of 250ml would be better.ì
