I had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was extremely convenient. Breakfast was excellent, and all of the staff were friendly and attentive. A special thank-you to Christoph at reception, who kindly carried my luggage up to the second floor at check-in and back down at checkout—especially appreciated since there’s no elevator. Highly recommended!
However, the bathroom shower needs some improvement. You have to stand inside the bathtub to shower, and the drainage is quite slow—water pools throughout the entire shower, leaving your feet submerged in used water. It would be much better if the hotel could either replace the bathtub with a walk-in shower or upgrade the drainage system for faster water removal.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were very nice, which had a choice of breads, cut meats, egg, muesli, tea, coffee, and even hot chocolate, which was appreciated by our children. Location is fabulous,as grindelwald is surrounded by mountains,so the views are excellent. Beds were nice and warm. The shower worked nicely, while the orange and beige shower cubicle felt 1960/70s,which added character to the room. The hotel feels very swiss, with walls covered in wood and vintage objects that relate to the culture of the area, which added charm to the hotel. We would be happy to stay again.
This isn't a dislike, butt the room has a kettle, but no tea or coffee sachets, which I normally see in previous hotels I have stayed. But there is a good convenience store across the road to buy these items. Hot drinks can be purchased from the front desk in the hotel. But it's a nice hotel, with nothing to dislike. Not related to our hotel experience... We arrived on the 23rd October, but didn't realise the tourist season slows down between then and December. So not all the cable car, train routes are running and some hotels and restaurants are closed. But there was still other cable cars and trains running,so we still had a great time.

The members of family that run this hotel are very gracious, helpful hosts; they helped me carry my luggage to the upper stories. We chose an upgrade room that had a spectacular view of the Eiger, the LĂĽtschine valley, and the Kleine Scheidegg region. The bed was comfortable; the room and private bathroom met our needs. There were convenient outlets by the nightstands for cell-phone and electronic re-charging. (It is always a good idea to bring your own adaptor to fit the Swiss outlet.) The breakfast was very good with breads & jams, MĂĽesli, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, local cheeses, meats, coffee & tea, and orange juice, served in a cosy breakfast room with other hotel guests, giving us a chance to exchange experiences with them--the advantage of a smaller, traditional establishment. We came by car and on-site parking was free.
This hotel does not have the features found in larger, "modern" hotels (e.g., elevator), but the old-fashioned attention to detail, the courtesy of the owners, and the atmosphere of a chalet-style inn made a stay here all the more memorable.

Location was excellent, a short walk from Grindelwald station and close to attractions & shops. Breakfast was good - tea, coffee & juice available, lovely fresh bread & pastries and some fruit, cereals & meats. Room was comfortable & clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to check in early (at midday) as our room was already ready
The decor & bathroom was a little dated, but we didn’t expect luxury. The kettle didn’t work. No cups/mugs/tea/coffee in the room despite there being a kettle. Room price felt a little expensive for what you got, though it was one of the cheaper options we found in the area - I think it is just everything in Switzerland seems expensive!

We rented a large 2 BR with a large balcony smack in the middle of town A prime location. The balcony made it: surrounded by the alps and they had cushions for the iron chairs. The mountain rustic room was very well insulated - so when it was colder and rainy or when we experienced a heatwave, the place stayed cool. The location was smack middle of town - couldn't get better than that. The European breakfast (included in rate) was quite generous and there was staff to bring you your pastries, coffee and replenish the self-serve cheese/meat/yogurt etc. The main host and breakfast host were kind, helpful and clearly there to help. Parking was free which was great. After adjusting to things mentioned below, we had a great experience. One surprise: In the summer, Grindewald has black flies.
We like mountain rustic, yet this was VERY rustic . The bathroom was from the 60's and the shower with a slanted ceiling, hand-held shower made for awkward showers. The place had a long table with a hot water kettle, it would have been nice to have coffee or tea with it as well as a small refrigerator. The worst were the pillows which the host addressed by bringing two more out of locked cabinets. Still you had to literally fold them in half to get any support...and with them that flimsy I wondered how old - imagining lots dust mites. At $400/night we expected a bit more. Yet, that was the going rate, because it is Switzerland, we are smack in town and in high demand.

The view from the balcony of my room was fantastic. It was south facing and quiet, away from the road, so a sunny spot to relax. The manager was welcoming and helpful and the breakfasts were good. There was also a kettle in the room. The free bus card to use in the local area was a bonus.
The mattress in my room was hot and I did not find it very comfortable. This is a small hotel so it does not have public areas to sit but it is in the centre of Grindelwald so there are plenty of facilities nearby.

Hotel Tschuggen is a perfectly located, comfortable hotel right in the heart of Grindelwald, close to the lifts and with excellent hosts. The breakfast each morning is superb (I would always keep a roll for a mid-morning ski snack), and the hosts are friendly, helpful and welcoming. It is definitely a good spot to stay for a ski trip. I note a few reviews saying the hotel was a bit simplistic/dated, which I think are too harsh; the hotel is advertised as 2* and Grindelwald is extremely expensive, and this hotel offers excellent value for money for those seeking to visit the resort without the budget for the ultra boutique hotels.

Excellent location right in the centre of Grindelwald. Friendly and helpful staff. We arrived in 2 cars and were able to park right in front of the hotel which was great for peace of mind. However, there aren’t many spaces so if the hotel is busy then this might not be possible. Nice breakfast too. The Swiss chalet building has lots of character. It was clean and comfortable.
Felt a little bit old/dated, but this isn’t a problem and actually gave the hotel character :)

Our room was spacious and had a balcony which was lovely to sit on in the afternoons. The views of the mountains was spectacular! There was plenty of closet space and there was an ante room that was perfect for storing boots and coats etc. Adjacent to the hotel there is a "ski cave" for storage of ski equipment. It even had a large boot heater on one wall for overnight storage of ski boots. The location of the hotel is right on main street and very convenient. Our room was on the back on the hotel and was very quiet. The staff were friendly and accomodating.
