Anna was genuinely friendly--she made us feel as though we had a friend in Iceland so our stay wonderful! She helped us select a tour that picked up at our hotel. She even added gluten-free food to the standard breakfast menu. All of the staff were friendly, spoke English and made us feel so welcome. We liked the location because it was outside the city yet convenient for going to the town and it had free parking. Close by were several restaurants, plus grocery store, drug store. Our room had a wonderful view of the mountains.

I’d definitely recommend or come back here myself. The lady at reception (didn’t catch her name) was lovely, she even checked us in 2 hours early free of charge and gave us a complimentary 30 minutes hot tub (i used this on my birthday which was lovely!) the hotel is clean and rooms are spacious with a brilliant mountain view. We had supermarket 30 seconds down the road as well as some fast food places which was convenient as we had lots of things booked. The staff we were friendly and the tours that Hotel Laxnes have on their website are great. We did northern lights and golden circle through their website and it was brilliant.
I have no faults with the hotel, highly recommend

Nice, clean, & cozy hotel with great staff. We pre-ordered the lamb stew for dinner, which was excellent after a long day of hiking in the cold weather. The breakfast was good with a variety of options and exactly what we needed to start our day.
The hallway on the 2nd floor was too dark. It was enough to walk through without running into walls, but we couldn't see enough to put the key in the door. The bathroom vent smelled enough that it was the first thing you noticed when you walked into the room. We just shut the bathroom door when not using it.

Hotel Laxnes is an unique, quaint hotel with various artifacts on display on the second floor, illustrating farming life in Iceland in times past. The Icelandic poet and author, Halldór Kiljan Laxnes, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1955, is also featured, including a large mural of him on the outside wall as you approach the building. He used to live on the Þingvellir road, just a few miles away. The hotel is surrounded by trees and is situated at Háholt, next to a KFC, a filling station, kiosks and a main bus stop, with frequent buses into Reykjavík and a once a day bus to Akureyri.
The knives used for breakfast are not always as clean as they should be!

It was our last stop before heading to Reykjavik, it was a good place to stay. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, helpful too. The location is great, parking available just outside your door. The room is quiet and accessible for disabled people. Comfy beds and very clean. Even though there were some tiny issues, the staff was helpful and amended what necessary.
The room got a bit chilly in the evening and the blankets were kind of thin, but we've managed. Also, the room should have been non smoking but there was a smell of smoke when we came in. We didn't have a stove in the room as stated, but the receptionist was quick to amend that and we're grateful for that.

This is a hotel with great value for the cost. It is a little older hotel but the room was clean and spacious. We did enjoy the breakfast and wished we would have had time to experience the bar area the night before. Location was perfect for us to get to the airport the next morning. The beds were comfy also.
Linens could have been a little cleaner. I noticed just a minor stain or two, but nothing worrisome. Maybe just needs some new linens at this point. We didn't use the shower, so can't speak to that.

The location of the hotel was about 15-20 minutes drive outside of Reykjavik and right off the Golden Circle. Our room looked out onto snow covered mountains; It was absolutely beautiful! The room was large and comfortable. Everyone was so nice. Onsite parking. Our room had a balcony and we were able to see the aurora from it! Very quiet and relaxing
The only thing we didn’t like was the “non-slip” mat for the shower. The moment we stepped on it the mat would slide around. It was much safer without it

Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed and the convenience of a small kitchenette and an electric kettle for tea and coffee, which was provided. A quaint pub was on the property and although they did not have a kitchen to provide dinner there were local options nearby and, they did offer and traditional Icelandic breakfast in the morning as well as offer a delicious lamb soup that we had for lunch while staying there. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. I highly recommend staying here if you're going to be in the area.

We got lucky with a corner room, and it was awesome! Spacious, and the bathroom was out of the way, so we loved that. It was a nice space and the guy at check-in was really cool too
No microwave or refrigerator or any kitchen stuff tho, but we weren't in the room that much, so it wasn't a thing in the end

Stayed here for our first night when doing the ring road around Iceland. We were a bit taken aback when we first walked in as, on first impressions, it seemed a bit dingy, reception wasn’t obvious, and it turned out that we had to check in with the girl behind the bar who was eating sushi! Things got much better after this, and first impressions can be misleading. The room was great, a really good size, and very comfortable. It’s a bit out of the way, but there is a supermarket and KFC nearby if you need provisions. No complaints at all and a decent enough place for a one night stopover.
