First impression on arrival is the location is stunning, the staff couldn't have been more helpful.Warm comfortable room and bed, great self catering kitchen and bar
Unfortunately being next to the drying room and another two fire doors which have to be there for health and safety but the dampers need to be adjusted because no fault of the Hostel but people are not aware or not concerned of other people trying to sleep so more notice to guests would be helpful.

Staff lovely especially the man on reception when we arrived. Really good location and very clean.
We waited quite a while for breakfast and thought it was below average for the price. May have just been an off day.

Wonderful, helpful staff. Nice triple room on top floor with good 'shared' (though in practice enough for us to have our own) shower and toilet facilities and good view across river to hills in the background. Able to adjust radiator in room to increase warmth if needed. Clean and tidy. One firm pillow provided per bed, plus duvet, sheet, pillowcase and duvet cover. Bed firm but comfy. Take your own towel or hire one from reception. Kitchen facilities good though I did take some useful kitchen pots and utensils of my own which I found useful. Managed to produce a Christmas lunch in the kitchen - wise to leave cooking a big meal until later than normal though, to miss the busiest times. There are 3 large fridges so plenty of room for the food we had brought with us. Labels and pen are provided in kitchen so you can put your name on your food supplies. Town centre is about 5 mins' walk away from the hostel and has plenty of good shops and places where you can eat. Went to Moot Hall in town centre to collect the White Disc needed to give 2 hours' free parking on roads where this is designated. You can hang on to the White Disc for future visits to Keswick, and it's free. Parking on road beside the hostel is free 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. but with the disc you can increase that by 2 hours extra which is useful for unloading/loading the car. The disc can additionally be used for on-street parking elsewhere in Keswick too (time allowed is shown on signs near the parking spaces). Good food can be bought from hostel's bar area for much of the day and breakfast should be ordered the night before. Free WiFi available - ask at reception. A variety of games provided in hallway for use by guests. Town centre nicely compact. Cashpoint nearby on Station Street. Lovely cinema nearby too. About 10 mins' walk to a large public car park on the edge of the town centre, where you can park for up to 3 hours (pay machine which can take cash).
Lack of free daytime parking near hostel, but reception staff can tell you about free 24/7 street parking a few minutes' walk away. Easiest to arrive after 6 p.m. when it's free near hostel.

Check-in wasn't until a few hours after we arrived in Keswick but they were great and let us leave our bags so we could go and get lunch. We had a family room which was great - all the kids had their own beds and loved the bunk beds. The room was clean and while we didn't have an ensuite, the bathroom and toilets weren't far away at all. It was great having the cafe downstairs (complete with small interesting things such as games and walk information) for an easy and really well-priced breakfast. I also liked that you could pay for towel hire. There's a stream right next to the YHA and a playground so really useful when you've got kids who need to burn off energy. And if you stay there over a weekend, there's a kids parkrun which takes place every Sunday at 9am.
We were right by the entrance to the floor so there was some noise, but really not as much as I was expecting. My 8 year old said there was too many stairs (we were on the top floor) but I think that's him being lazy... 😂

Situated in a beautiful spot. A few minutes walk to town centre. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean room. Nice breakfast.
Parking permit for road outside is needed after 8am, which means breakfast is rushed as it isn't delivered till 7.40 as you have to order it when you arrive at 7.30. (This means there is concern in the back of your mind as you are never sure how "enthusiastic" the parking wardens are. Bed was slightly angled in room 308, so you had no choice on sleeping position. (You have to sleep "into" the slope.) Tbh, not a problem for me as I regularly sleep in a bivvy when fishing, but others may not like it.

YHA Keswick truly exceeded our expectations in every way. The hostel is perfectly located in a beautiful and central area, making it an ideal base for exploring the surroundings. It's situated close to a variety of shops, cafes, and local attractions, which makes it very convenient for guests who want to experience the charm of Keswick. One of the standout features of the hostel was its exceptional cleanliness. Everything, from the common areas to the rooms, was spotless. The staff went above and beyond to maintain high standards of cleanliness, and they were always available to assist with any requests. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by the staff made our stay even more enjoyable. We stayed for two nights, and the shared bathrooms were incredibly well-maintained—sparkling clean and stocked with everything we needed. It was clear that all the residents took great care to keep the shared spaces tidy, which made a huge difference in the overall experience. The sense of community within the hostel was apparent, and it added to the positive vibe of the place. The hostel also offers a small but cozy restaurant where you can grab a meal or a snack, which was a nice touch after a long day of exploring. Additionally, the luggage storage facility was extremely convenient, especially for those who arrive early or need to store their belongings after checking out. The location itself is hard to beat—nestled near a picturesque river, it offers a peaceful and scenic atmosphere that is perfect for unwinding after a busy day of sightseeing. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple, or part of a group, YHA Keswick is an excellent choice for anyone seeking an affordable, clean, and well-located hostel in a beautiful part of the UK. Overall, we had a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend YHA Keswick to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay in Keswick. It's a hidden gem that offers incredible value for money.

The location was spot on, staff very friendly, couldnt fault anything, maybe just adding mushrooms and scrambled egg to the breakfast :and the coffee wasnt very warm but it wasnt a problem The only problem we had was lots of drunk people coming in at 3am, they obviously forgot their key card so were shouting outside for ages, someone then let them in and then they were banging on the hallway internal door too and also banged on our door. It was pretty scary and woke us all up. But the staff were very helpful the next morning when we complained about them.
No lift and being on the 3rd floor after climbing mountains all day was hard haha

Literally could not get a better location than this. Overlooks Skiddaw in all its glory and there’s not a cheaper option in Keswick. Right on the river and there’s games downstairs and moderately priced food for where you are. It’s a hostal but the rooms exceeded my expectations, lovely clean and private bathroom and clean and comfy bunks. WITH OUR OWN BALCONY! I practiced my handstands at sunrise it was such a vibe. Lovely location in the heart of Keswick only a few mins walk from a bunch of pubs and bars. Will definitely stay here again!

We booked a private room and it was updated to a bigger one. It was a 6 bed dorm room but still it was private - the whole room for two of us. There was a sink and soap in the room. Several showers and toilets on our floor. In the middle of the week in March it was very quiet and peaceful but still not empty. We didn’t book breakfast in advance and there was an option to pay straight away for an English breakfast. We were offered to fill a tiny paper with a list of offered dishes. They had a variety of vegan options as well. Breakfast was delicious, all continental options were included and unlimited. It was about £10 for 1 person. Only continental breakfast must be cheaper. Staff was always very kind and friendly. We were allowed to leave our luggage in a safe room before check-in and after check-out. Amazing experience, I wish we could stay longer.

Greeted by friendly staff on arrival in the cosy bar/cafe. The room was comfortable and quiet, just the sound of the river Greta passing by. After a long day out nice to come back for a brew and hot shower and get some food in the communal kitchen/dining area which was kept spotless by the visitors and staff. Would recommend to anyone, lone hikers, groups and families all seemed to be enjoying their stay. Also close to the town.
