Our 4-day stay at Quand la ville dort was simply perfect. The property is delightful... in a peaceful location overlooking the pretty canal basin but easily accessible for the town centre with its restaurants and bars. Our rooms were spotlessly clean, spacy, airy and beautifully furnished, with large comfortable beds and glorious en-suites. And excellent air conditioning - which was very welcome during the current heatwave! The whole house has been tastefully furnished and decorated with many unusual art works and ceramics which have been thoughtfully chosen by the owner, Vincent. He is a charming man and a truly wonderful host... always friendly and engaging, and always smiling. The breakfasts which he prepared for us each morning were delicious, the evening drinks on the garden terrace equally so! We know from our conversations that creating all of this has been a labour of love for him... and it shows in everything he does and everywhere you look. We wish him much success - he thoroughly deserves it!

Nothing to fault at all.

This is an exquisitely funky hotel with an attentive, welcoming host! Service is outstanding and very personal. Opt for breakfast. Like everything here it is a delight, and a thoughtful take on French breakfast…it is a superb start to the day. The pool too is a great way to cool off after the day’s activities!

Nothing out of place

This is a unique hotel in the art deco style. Vincent is an amiable host. Our bedroom was spacious with a comfortable bed.

There are 75 steps up to the reception and another 25 to the bedrooms. For older visitors that’s a lot. We wanted to walk to restaurants but they were at least 20 minutes away. For younger visitors that’s might be fine but for older people not so convenient.

Fabulous stay. The house is beautiful, so stylish. Vincent is a delightful host and his passion for Quand la ville dort shines through in every detail. Would definitely love to return one day.

A wonderfully querky little hotel....we'd stay there again. Excellent breakfast and Monsiour Julien the owner was very attentive....

This B&B is a jewel in Agen which I would recommend, its position is perfect , a short work from the town of Agen. The views from all parts of the property are wonderful especially when having breakfast from the terrace overlooking the canal several hundred yards away. This B&B resembles an Art Nouveau museum with fantastic paintings and many Art Nouveau items too numerous to mention. It gives the property its character. There is also a swimming pool in the grounds. Vincent, the main staff member could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. He managed to produce a perfect breakfast every morning of our stay - he is a rare Star of this industry. .

It is very very important that guests clearly understand that this property would be unsuitable for those who have mobility issues. There is a steep set of 75 steps to get to the property from the parking and drop off area. No other easy way to get there.

As we were cycling the Canal Lateral a la Garonne towards Toulouse, one passes the gate, so it's very easy to find. We had booked the suite at the front of the house which has a large private balcony overlooking the Quai and were very pleased with our choice. The property is a short walk from restaurants, shops, Gare etc. To wake up, open the doors and take in the view from the sunny balcony was delightful. The room itself is a work of art, decorated and furnished in Art Deco period. The bathroom is dramatic, with beautiful light and functions perfectly. Vincent's home-made breakfasts are delicious, served indoors or outdoors with professional efficiency. We also enjoyed the lovely swimming pool. Our stay was one of the highlights of our holiday and we headed off much the better for our stay. Merci Vincent.

Everything. Beautiful setting with large collection of art deco furnishings, books and ornamental items. The friendly owner is passionate about beautiful items he has sourced, and the whole house has been tastefully renovated - saving it from demolition. The lounge area is quirky and delightful. We enjoyed the pool, the views, the pool and wonderful terraced gardens. There were lots of different outdoor seating areas.Breakfast was exceptional. Our bedroom and art deco bathroom were beautiful, with a really comfortable bed, and views down to the river. The owner has thought of everything. We just wish we had booked more than two nights!

Nothing. It was the best place we have ever stayed.

It was on the cycle track of the Canal de la Garonne. Reason for choice. Very big bedroom with balcony and huge bathroom. Most welcome host. Garage with electricity to park our bikes overnight. We arrived early but were able to enter the garden until stipulated time of entry to the accommodation which we greatly appreciated because we had been cycling in very hot conditions.

LOTS of steps. The swimming pool is very small and in somewhat neglected garden/ terrace. It is a good 15 minutes walk to the nearest restaurants, though we could have brought food and eaten it at the accommodation. We didn’t do so as we were cycling and not near places to buy food but would suggest that an evening platter on our balcony would have been a super experience with view of canal below.

Superbly comfortable room with spotless and well appointed bathroom in a great location right by the canal with roof top views over Agen. Breakfast was excellent with fresh ingredients and croissants warm from the oven. The stay was very memorable due to a stylish movie/ art deco inspired theme and warm welcome from the host. This is the ideal place to stay if you are travelling along the canal.
