The view across Rutland Water from the conservatory at breakfast is stunning, especially when the sun is shining. The bed was also very comfortable. The staff were also very friendly.

We were a party of six staying for 2 nights and spent a lot in the bar and on wine with dinner on both nights. It is a pity that the bar staff are not equipped with the correct glasses to serve drinks. When you are paying bar prices you expect drinks served in the correct glasses - not tumblers!

Great location by Rutland Water. Excellent views and quiet. Good food. Neat new gates bit like a Lych Gate that goes out the garden. Bed very comfortable

Some maintenance needed on the disabled facilities, rust on rails. The wet floor needs shower curtains down to the floor.

The staff were lovely, the view over the lake was gorgeous and breakfast was wonderful in a beautiful airy light room. I needed to add a friend whio is a student, and the receptionist very kindly changed us to a family room for the same fee. We loved sitting out in the garden among the stunning trees. Our room was large and the bathroom also spacious, with a fast running large bath.

The plug was unserviceable in our bath (allendale room) - I had to deploy a hair slide to dig it out. There was quite a strong fragrance, perhaps on the carpets?

The location was fab, Room suffice. A very popular hotel as it was busy throughout my stay. Breakfast suffice but a DIY buffet. Staff were good.

On the first night I had a problem with my room. My room was above the kitchens which worked out ok as I didn't really hear any goings on from the Kitchen. But intermittently overnight the pipe work in the shower room sounded off and I can only describe as it sounded like a jet taking taking off so as soon as I nodded off I was woken again by the ridiculous noise, and it went on all night. So on my second night I expected the same and it only happened the once so I got some sleep. But that's not acceptable.

The restaurant and food were amazing, the staff very helpful and location was lovely

The rooms are on the small size and the walls are very thin so could hear a lot of noise

The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond when my elderly mother had a fall. They were also quick to deal with some maintenance issues with our original room and move us to a new room. Location is fantastic (and very handy for the parkrun), and we enjoyed both sitting on the garden terrace and eating in the conservatory with views of the lake. We had dinner in the hotel on all three nights and the food was excellent. We would stay here again.

Did not have breakfast on our 2 mornings. Evening meal one night was excellent. Fantastic location looking over Rutland Water with lovely gardens. Helped that the weather was superb as we witnessed two or the best sunsets we have ever seen. Staff were excellent and particularly helpful was Richard who was on his first week at the hotel but had come from the restaurant trade. Would definately return in the future.

Some of the fixtures and fittings maybe needed looking at and could have used more room for clothing.

Lovely hotel, a very warm welcome from the lovely staff. They were very accommodating to our baby. Good food, beautiful setting right on Rutland water. We stayed in the Preston suite which had lovely views and a bath with jets. Would definitely stay again!

As other reviews noted, the only area that could be improved was cleanliness, there were patches of dust on the carpets in our room, and a couple of dead flies on the shelves in the dining area, but pretty minor and it didnt bother me too much.

Location is lovely - the grounds stretch down to Rutland Water with access to the path along the shore - the grounds also have views over rolling countryside on all sides including the far side or Rutland Water - the rooms with a lake view are special. The hotel is well maintained if a little basic (not a spa hotel groomed within an inch of its life) - and the staff are lovely and the value is outstanding - what you see is what you get. The restaurant food is traditional British - but up a couple of notches - the catering punches above its weight. And although it is less than 5 miles off the A1 London to Edinburgh dual carriageway you'd be for given for thinking you's arrived in a rural idyll - which you have.

Nothing springs to mind - and I find the ethos of Best Western hotels appealing

Good breakfast, choices of cereals could have been better, basic cooked with cooked to order eggs other than scrambled. Beautiful scenery, garden and lake(reservoir)

Shower in bathtub,door opened inward with little room to get into shower over high tub,also no rubber mat,it was difficult and slippery for me to get out. I did inform reception and also the tap to washbasin was faulty.From the description of room it looked out over the lake,it did,but looked over carpark.
