Lovely B & B in the heart of Lübeck's Gründerviertel. Clean and functional loft-style rooms in Scandinavian style. The breakfast was delicious with oven-fresh bread rolls, home made jam, freshly squeezed juice, fruit and cold cuts which prepared us well for our discovery tours in Lübeck. The last remaining brewery is just around the corner and the famous Rathausmarkt is only a very short stroll away. We felt very welcome and well taken care of. If we ever have the chance to visit Lübeck again, we hope to stay at The Layhead again.

The Gründerviertel is still under renovation so there is still building activity going on and you need to be mindful of unfinished pavements, but there is no noise disturbance in the evenings.

Great location for all things to see and do in Lübeck, and still a little tucked away from the busy streets. So nice and calm with high ceilings, court yard and plants. Clean facilities, homely feel, spacious, nice design. Great spacious room (no.5). Fantastic and healthy breakfast served at the table -bread, cheese, ham, fresh fruit, jams etc. Great coffee, and eggs how you want them. Great host who helped with all our requests. Highly recommend staying here. And we'll definitely be back!!

Really, there is nothing to dislike.

A very lovely hostess who was very attentive and thoughtful to our requests. The place has a modern design to it, and yet, it still gives out a cozy feeling. I absolutely love the suspended plants in the lounge room/ eating area/ desk/reception, it is very unique and adds that hygge vibe!

This is not a criticism in any case, it is only for informing people who come by car. Parking is difficult in the street, and a parking garage can be conveniently found at a 5 minutes walking distance. Thus, you can simply park and leave it there safely while you go & explore the city by foot.

It was fresh, new, quiet and the design of the room was well thought out. It was an easy walk from the train station and very centrally located for seeing the sights of the city. The breakfast was delicious and our hostess Karin happily accommodated our gluten free dietary needs. She went above and beyond to give us what we needed for a comfortable stay. We were able to leave our bags at the property as we arrived early. Check in and check out procedures were easy.

The service was wonderful and kind. The room had many nice characteristics and it was spacious. It included also, well organised and practical solutions for clothes and all your other personal belongings. Location near the canals as well as restaurants and old town main square made it easy to take short breaks during the day and still see the many attractions of Lübeck. Sanctuary in heart of the old town. Definitely coming back!

The house is new, but picks up historic features of the house that stood there, originally. The B&B's interiors are very modern and reduced. E.g., flow concrete is used in the bathroom, design elements are present but reserved. I especially liked the hanging gardens in the lobby/breakfast area. The room itself was facing the street. Having the windows opened, you will have some street noice like passing cars or church bells. They do have other rooms facing the backyard. The bed was very comfortable, two choices of cushions, good mattress. Bathroom contained a spacious walk-in shower. At the time of our stay, they were still in the process of finishing details like adding a sound system to the breakfast area, or nurturing for the garden.

Parking is a bit difficult. Hotel doesn't provide parking space, and parking space on the island of the old town is limited. Expect to walk 10 minutes from your car.

Everything was just perfect, even the weather played along 😉. A very warm welcome, perfect recommendations on where to go for dinner and what to see. Great breakfast in a beautifully decorated surrounding, what is there not to like. Great location and huge comfortable room.
