Breakfast was fine. Lady ‘greeter’ was very friendly and helpful. Very young waiter was also very courteous and helpful. We arrived on Mother’s Day. And local confirmation. The hotel was buzzing! But reception staff were excellent and ‘bar manager’ (?) (collating receipts later in the evening) was really professional - quickly found us a table for dinner and, later, sorted out some food for us in the lobby.

Small stuff at breakfast. Orange juice and apple juice - too dilute to have any recognisable taste! And we hate having to queue to toast our own bread! Otherwise, the breakfast fry-up was very tasty.

The room was comfortable and nicely decorated with a double and single bed, perfect for my sister and I. We were attending a wedding in the nearby Castle Lesley and really enjoyed being able to use the pool and jacuzzi the next morning. This was definitely the highlight of our stay. We absolutely loved the jacuzzi. It was easy to get to and from the castle by taxi. The breakfast was very tasty on both mornings. The staff were always pleasant and ready to help in any way they could. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

It was very cold that weekend and we found the corridors quite cold when waiting for the lift. It wasn't a big deal though. The decor in the corridors is also a bit dated in comparison with the room.

Staff were very welcoming. The spa was lovely and the food was beautiful. We had an upgrade to a lovely big room with a very comfortable bed and newly refurbished bathroom.

Still some ongoing refurbishment in the spa. The breakfast room looks a wee bit tired but I'm sure it's on their to do list. Not the hotels fault, but there is not much to do within walking distance on a Sunday night in Monaghan, maybe something to be aware of when booking for the weekend. Also, perhaps some lights near the mirror in the room for makeup application? Overall, an enjoyable stay though.

Rooms felt luxurious, nice white crisp sheets, bed was extremely comfortable as was the room. Carpet felt fresh and clean and bathroom was nice and big, with a bath and a shower. Breakfast was superb, with hot buffet style, breads fruits pastries pancake machine cereals and coffee machine- i looked forward to breakfast every morning. Food in restaurant was also lovely food

The swimming pool was a bit disappointing. It felt very small for the number or guests and when we went it was packed like sardines, you kind of just stood in one spot in the pool and wouldn’t swim, a section of the pool was closed off for lessons so it madd it feel even smaller. Maybe do the lessons at a time that isn’t busy so the full pool can be used and make a booking system for the hotel where each guest can make one booking per stay at a time .

Very welcoming staff once I booked in, easily found my room as layout of hotel was easy to follow once I knew my way. Room exceeded my expectations, Quality of food during Dinner and Breakfast were excellent and very filling. Spa facilities were also great as I enjoyed my time in the pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms.

I only have a few nit-picks such as breakfast being overall chaotic when up near the food area, could be helped with a system where guests can only enter in one way and exit the other to streamline foot traffic and avoid people potentially bumping into each other. The steam room (at the time I was in there) did not produce enough steam and what I assume was the generator on the wall is barely hanging onto it with some rust.

Love the hillgrove, haven't been since kids where lot younger. Staff are very helpful friendly. Pool etc is lovely rooms big and spacious. The food is first class very good the whole time we stayed from breakfast to our evening meals.

We were on top floor which never been on before. It was quite run down, swimming area changing rooms etc bit run down too since we went years ago. No plugs beside beds they have a lamp plugged in but it was circle outlet. So we had to get all they had was an extension leads from other side of room for sleep machine to be used. No games room for older kids now. Cinema for younger ones.
