the room was clean and bed was really comfortable. the dinner at the restaurant was amazing and the breakfast had a number of options you could choose from.
the walls are quite thin and there seemed to be a party going on until around 12/1am which kept us up (the music was quite loud). I understand hotels hold functions so we didn't complain and hoped it finish early but it finished later than we thought. We'd recommend that the hotels warn you of this or put you in rooms that are further away from the functions.

The room was lovely and there was plenty of space to move around as well for me to store my things. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows, different thicknesses, which made it easy to get comfortable when sitting and watching the TV or sleeping. The bathroom was probably my favourite part though! It looked clean and fancy and the water pressure in the shower was amazing! It was the best shower I've had in a long time. All in all, the room was very clean and extremely comfortable.
The only downside for me was the noise level. As the room keys have metal room numbers attached, it meant that other guests couldn't help but make a lot of noise when locking/unlocking their doors, which woke me up once or twice. Also, the window in my room was over a sort of alleyway which amplified the noise of people passing, and unfortunately this area seemed pretty busy between 9 and 11pm, which made it difficult for me to get an early night. However, these were relatively small issues and I wouldn't let it put me off booking a stay in the future.

From start to finish this weekend getaway was superb, from the warm welcoming from Julie & jasmine at the front desk when booking in the location was fantastic, the rooms were big & clean the bar staff in the stables were friendly, welcoming it was just so relaxing it's what me & my wife needed. ALL staff from top to bottom make this hotel such a superb well run facility its a no brainer book & see for yourself we've only just got back & are trying to work out new dates to go back. The food is exquisite

Very comfortable room on the top floor with great views. Comfortable and spacious. Excellent breakfast. Dinner was a bit disappointing as we stayed on a Sunday and the only option was the limited Sunday Lunch Roasts menu which was not ideal for diabetics. My best option was to choose the burger - which was fine even though I didn't eat the bun - but the vegetables that came with my wife's roast chicken that I was hoping to use to fill up were a bit tired and overcooked. Friendly and helpful staff.

Lovely old building and friendly staff. Excellent Breakfast. Well positioned for the Beamish Museum. Will stay again, just won't risk dinner.
Dinner kitchen was not well organised. Cold food one night and waited 15 minutes the next night to be told that our choice was not available. Be advised and order the same dish as your fellow diner so they get cooked together. My wife had the Beef Daub two nights in a row, first night excellent and second night it was too tough to eat. Bonoffee desert was not quite as listed. Difficult to find the ice cream on the first night and no ice cream or meringue pieces on the second night. Evening menu is limited. The staff accepted our complaints and took items off the bill. Will not risk eating there again as the poor delivery spoilt our evenings.

Minor problems. Towels for one was left but there were two of us. Contacted reception and this was quickly resolved. Plug mechanism in the bathroom was wedged down and could not be released. Reported this to reception and was quickly attended to. Unfortunately when we wised the basin the plug became wedged. This we reported to reception when we checked out. The wardrobes in the bedroom were quiet old and was very noisy when you opened and closed the doors. This we felt could annoy our neighbours.
Minor niggling problems as stated above. We were surprised that the quality and status of the hotel would allow these minor faults to go unchecked.

The room size was definitely the largest room we have ever stayed in. The lighting in the room is exceptional, most rooms we have stayed in are gloomy and not consistent with doing any reading etc. The grounds are huge and the flowers on the way to the Stables Restaurant were amazingly colourful.
Shower door did not close properly, some skirting board paint had come off. Would have been happier with a more upmarket dining experience, possibly restricted due to there being a school prom at the time. Breakfast could have been warmer, black pudding was very crispy on the outside - overcooked. Very nicely presented and good selection.

The location was stunning, and I would love to return in the summer to see the garden in colour. This would add to the grandness of the setting. Inside the adaption to a hotel was tasteful and sensitive, the rooms had the height and elegance of a grand hotel. The windows seat in our room added to its charm. Initially, the access to the restaurant was unusual, crossing the courtyard, but soon realised this was a necessity for the stables and hall to be kept true to their architectural original plan.
Only got lost once trying to find room. It's an unusual layout. Would have liked to spend time in the grande entrance lounge, lazing with a book, drink, and log fire. However, each day it was busy with a wedding. I do appreciate this would be a fabulous venue for such an event.

Room was nice and clean but the quilt could have been bugger it just fit the bed so once You were in very little extra quilt for each person also I guess it's a listed building but rooms need some sort of extra soundproof for windows we were there and guessing Xmas parties going on but the noise out the front at 245am woke us up not great and it went on for over half an hour quite annoying .we had drinks in the bar at evening these were fantastic and the setting and fires are fantastic.breakfast in the morning was good a lot of choices and again lovely setting .the staff are all very helpful and polite from the receptionist the bar staff and waiting staff hotel is very clean and the setting is idyllic just a shame about the small quilt and the house from outside from party goes if this is addressed it would be perfect
As mentioned the quilt on the bed could do with being bigger just fits so once your are in bed there's no over hang for either person .also I guess it's a listed building but rooms would benefit from some sort of secondary glazing for noise purposes getting woken up at 245am from shouting and singing from outside the main entrance and 3 floors down is not ideal

Room was a little small but addequate, clean and comfortable. Facilities excellent, building beautiful including the grounds and surrounding area. The best value hotel I have had in a very long time would defo stay again. Wanted to book xmas but is already booked up, put myself on a waiting list.
There wasn't anything I didn't like about this hotel. Couldn't find anything to complain about. I found it excellent value and peaceful to stay there in such pleasant surroundings. Would liked to have stayed longer. Stayed 2 nights.
