two connected rooms - one lacked a large mirror, and the air conditioner was placed directly above the bed and the air blew directly on the person. which was quite annoying

Staff were very helpful and attentive. The room met our expectations very well. The location of the hotel was perfect for the city sight seeing we wanted to do. Breakfast at the nearby AX Rosselli hotel was very good and staff amazing.

Taxis were not able to get to the hotel front door because of city centre pedestrianisation, necessitating a walk of at least 50m. Not far but it is when pushing a wheelchair and suitcase! Should be mentioned in the hotel description bot wouldnt necessarily put us off.

The hotel staff were more than helpful, willing to asssist in whatever way they could. Jennifer, at the front desk, was magnificent. She provided many information of Malta and what we could do, how to move around the city. She even arranged for a very specual surprise for my husband and I on our 10 year anniversary! Thank uou so much!!! The hotel location is ideal , within a few minutes walk from the central streets of the city and a walking distance from the gardens and the waterfront ! The breakfast was marvellous and also the people assisting were very kind and very quick! I would strongly recommend this hotel for someone who is visiting Valletta! Thank you all for your hospitality and kindness!

The AX St John is actually the 4-star sister hotel without a front desk of the more swanky 5-star Rosselli - AX Privilege two doors up the road where all check in facilities and amenities are located. However, it felt private and well-appointed despite the fact that we did feel a little neglected! The rooms are very comfortable and we looked out into the University opposite which was extremely picturesque. The international staff are well-trained and very knowledgable but we did not meet a single Maltese (or local) staff member which felt quite odd at times. Breakfast at the Rosselli is "tier-style" and quite lovely plus you can sit outside if you wish.

Apart from the relative marginalisation of the AX St John (compared to the AX Rosselli), the main issue is one of noise in the late afternoons and evenings. In between the two AX hotel locations are two noisy bars which seem to compete with each other for attention which was completely out of character for such an elegant and historic part of Valletta. At times, it seemed almost deliberate. This hindered our enjoyment of the room and even the sturdy shutters could not diminish the noise and vibrations which is why we would not stay here again. Plus in a 4-night stay, the toiletries were never replenished and we had to request shower gel which (again) seemed odd.

What an extraordinary hotel! Superb! Central Valette and easy walking distance to most sites. The boutique hotel is an absolute gem and well appointed. Loved staying here. And the breakfast was stupendous! Staff were amazing, and the restaurant incredible. It really was a fabulous stay. I feel spoiled! Highly highly recommend!!

Loved everything about the hotel. If I had one minor concern it was with the bed being a little too soft for my liking. But no complaints.

We had a standard room, nice and large, looking out over an inner courtyard. We had a small problem with the room and were moved to a very nice room in the front. The reception staff dealt with it brilliantly. Great breakfasts and lovely staff in the restaurant too. The housekeeping staff were also very good. Loved the location, central and plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

Very efficient check-in and lovely being shown to my room and all the features. Amazing shower and lush smelling toiletries. Very comfy bed and linen. Breakfast was delicious and felt very well looked after by the staff. Location was perfect - right in the buzz of it all! I will definitely stay here again.

I found the lighting panel a tad fiddly to use - maybe I wasn't pressing hard enough!! A clock or Bluetooth speaker in the room would've been handy. Otherwise, all good.

Fantastic hotel, The hotel is located in the middle of the city. It is close to everything in the city, two hotels in one, the reception was in the next hotel, The hotel staff was very nice and positive and helpful. The breakfast was very good and the staff was nice.

Way too noisy when you have a room overlooking the street, mainly due to the bar that is playing super loud live music on weekends. We were disturbed even though we aren’t noise sensitive and heavy sleepers. Requested a room move that the front desk team granted us on the second night.

This is a great location in Valletta and the stay exceeded our expectations! We booked for enough rooms to accommodate all of our family of 10, and when there was an issue with a couple of the rooms we reserved, they already planned an upgrade for those 2 rooms even before our arrival! In fact, they moved us to their Rosselli property next door! Both properties have amazing accommodations! What really made our stay so amazing were the people who worked there (from the amazing teams at the front desk providing such a warm welcome and kindness each day to the servers at breakfast who provided a great start to each day ... too many names to mention as all were fantastic throughout our stay)! Would highly recommend the stay at either property. Thank you!

Everything was amazing! Only thing to suggest would be more utilization of the rooftop bar and consideration of a happy hour as the views were amazing.
