Charming, traditional building, which is in the heart of Stein am Rhein, and also within walking distance of the railway station (under 10 minutes). The room was very clean with a lovely view over the river, the heating was efficient and the bed was comfortable. There was a fridge and also a hair dryer. The breakfast was good, and the staff were kind and helpful.

It sometimes took a while for the hot water to come through. The room lacked sockets - in fact, the only one I could find near the bed was unusable as the plug kept falling out of it, meaning I had to charge my phone in the bathroom. However, these were minor points, and I enjoyed my stay there and would definitely stay again.

It’s a beautiful building, with many original features and a museum on level 1. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable and the view was beautiful. It’s very central and we walked to the local Christmas markets which turned out to be one of the best ( and least crowded) we’d been to in the many towns we had stayed at in Germany. The staff were very friendly. It was a little unusual that the day after we arrived, it was the staff’s day off and so we were entrusted with the key to the hotel… it was very convenient for us, and we didn’t mind- just glad the staff trusted us!

The hotel is located in the historical centre of Stein am Rhein (Old town) about 50m from the central square. The hotel building is perhaps 5-600 years old and the top floor room was accessible by elevator. The room was very spacious and had views over the Rhine which is immediately adjacent the hotel. We arrived by river boat and walked about 200m on the flat. Breakfast was included and service was very good. We did not use the hotel restaurant for other meals but it looked good. The room was large, comfortable and enjoyed ancient building charm with practical modern windows and excellent modern bathroom. It is essential to visit the Monastery/Museum which is a few metres from the front door of the hotel.

Room was terrific. Compared to three other hotels we stayed at in Switzerland, including a luxury resort on Lake Thun, this hotel was superior to them the all. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only hotel where we stayed that the air conditioning worked and actually cooled the room. Breakfast was outstanding. Checking in was quick and easy, even though we arrived on a Wednesday when the hotel was closed.

Parking was very reasonable, but would have appreciated more guidance on where it was located and how to operate the parking fee machine. The fact that you could request a receipt, but the meter doesn’t provide a receipt was confusing. Also would recommend to those driving to the hotel to have Swiss coins.

Excellent location, great food at hotel restaurant and rooms were very big.

There isn't hotel parking so you have to park in a lot down the road. You must download the parking app and pay hourly 7 days a week. We must have ran short at some point and received a parking ticket which cost us $48 that was mailed to us months later. Car rental company also charges for the ticket, not a deal breaker for staying here but definitely something to consider. Ended up paying quite a bit for parking.

The location in a historic building along the Rhine river in old town was superb! The staff was friendly and welcoming. Dinner was delicious. We were able to park across the street for a couple of hours and there is another lot nearby as well. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was pretty standard, eggs made to order. Everything was fresh and stocked. Highly recommended!

Very traditional family run hotel in quaint little Sten Am Rhein. River view from our room was exceptional. Family is involved all the time and always around.

1. 2 lights were not working. 1 bedside lamp + 1 main floor lamp. Should have informed them but slipped my mind. 2. the lift was very jerky just before it opened on any floor and really shook our heads around

We loved everything about this hotel. In fact we used this hotel twice because it was so good; once on the outbound trip and once on the inbound trip. We loved the regalia in the corridors; the polar bears, the suit of armour. The rooms were quaint. We were there during a heat wave and the air conditioning was a real blessing. The hotel was wonderfully situated and you could dine overlooking the lake. The food was amazing.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. This hotel was perfect.

Our host was amazing and he offered us the River view room without any charge. The lake view from room in the morning is amazing when the fog is lifting. The room is beautiful with old style logs re-used to beautify the hotel. The breakfast room is situated to get a clean view of the Rhein river which is beautiful. The hotel is within touching distance of the old town.

No on location parking, we used public parking nearby.

Beautiful old hotel on the Rhein River. The breakfast buffet was tasty and dinner was extraordinary with both served on the deck overlooking the river. If you had a problem the staff was there to serve your every needs.
