The location was perfect - we were in room 102 which was one of the suites with a history. The room was a bit tired in places but bespoke - one of the things we had read was that the hotel was noisy which we read after we had booked - but in fact our room wasn't. It was great to stay somewhere historical and the bathroom was very clean with choice of bath or shower which we liked. Check in was easy (although was challenged and asked to provide identification as I paid online so be aware of that).
I would have liked some instructions on how to work the 'posh' coffee machine - and someone to have told us that there was tea making facilities, a comfy robe and slippers and complementary cokes and water in the fridge. In fact there wasn't any instructions for anything. We had books, but it would have been nice to have put on the telly - we didn't find the tea making facilities because we were living out of a bag until after we had gone to buy milky water (the local Sainsbury Costa ran out of tea bags).

The hotel location itself is excellent, right in the city centre, and perfect for seeking bars and restaurants nearby! The staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions. The room was quite small but very cosy and comfortable, however we knew the size based on the photos and was more than happy to stay! The bathroom as well was on the smaller side but the shower was AMAZING! Best hotel shower i’ve been in!! We loved all the facilities at the hotel, such as the connected bar, gym and breakfast! There were so many options for breakfast including full english, pastries etc, different juices and hot drinks! Overall, our stay was exceptional.

Loved the decor, it was super quirky and made it feel really fun and different, the artwork in our room was by an local independent artist which was a really lovely touch. We went for the city pad which was small but it was totally fine for two people for one night and the bed was really comfy, and completely worth the price. The staff were also exceptionally helpful and so friendly! We only paid for the room, we didn't get breakfast and didn't pay any WiFi, but we felt that what we got was really good value for money and will be staying here again for such a reasonable price!
Less messages from the hotel itself - I received a lot of messages in the run-up to our stay, and it was a little annoying as it became difficult to work out what information was important/relevant to our stay, and I nearly accidentally ended up paying for early check-in, which we didn't need, just because one particular message about online check-in was so confusing. In the end I ignored most of the messages, checked in on time and in person and everything was fine (big thanks to the staff member who so very quickly handled my question about the online check-in)! The messages haven't put us off so much that we won't be staying here again. :)

Front line staff were very welcoming and helpful especially for someone with walking difficulties. The room was exceptional, clean, spacious of excellent quality and the hotel is in a great location.
Breakfast was overpriced and not pleasant to eat. Left food, so much pepper on the tomato made it uneatable and the mushrooms were waterery and bland, only ate due to medication I have to take, Had toast but the toast machine burnt one side but didn't toast it on the other. The staff member although very polite didn't ask if everything was OK with the food as he spent most time talking in the kitchen

Fabulous location, everything within walking distance. Bed was huge and super comfy. Shower had great pressure and was hot! Room and reception clean and smelled fresh. Staff helpful and attentive. Breakfast had a good selection. Late checkout was available at £10 am hour which we took advantage of for 2 hours.
Minor detail given you are surrounded by bars but we had expected a bar in the hotel, but unfortunately it was closed. We survived and ventured out and had a great night. Carpets in the room were ill-fitted/worn. Breakfast felt a bit chaotic, 2 members of staff were helping and working their socks off but there just wasn’t enough of them to keep everything stocked, tidied etc we had been offered tea/coffee, the tea arrived but coffee didn’t, we had to search for a glasses and ask for cutlery. Was through no fault of theirs just they were so rushed.

Good location for amenities, clean, staff were polite & room well stocked
Very cramped room, minimal space for two adults. My main issue was the persistent scam and fraud emails coming from Mercure via booking.com, wanting money and early check in via links sent to guarantee to not lose the room and set time scales to do them in, they arrived piggybacked to genuine emails which were already arriving at inappropriate times (3-4.30am) and in the messaging option on bookings app itself. When I queried this with staff, I was nonchalantly brushed off as they'd reported it and to just ignore it and that it was fine!

Arrived at the hotel after parking in a nearby car park. Check in quick and efficient, friendly helpful staff. Small room with a double bed, not ideal for 2 people but since I was alone it was not problem. Slept surprisingly well. Breakfast is self service but freshly prepared and more than adequate with English and continental choices. Hotel has some history, the internal staircases are original and many famous people have stayed there including Charles Dickens. There is a pub as part of the building and a Weatherspoon's immediately across the road and many restaurants nearby. A Sainsbury's store is within a minutes walk. Nice hotel in the centre of Nottingham
Nottingham city centre: unfortunately it is a bit of a dump, a lot of people begging - well it is a city centre - but also a few winos who tend to shout at each other up and down the street. In the evening after returning from Trent Bridge these people were in the street arguing and brawling outside very nice restaurants where people were trying to have their dinner

Loved that its unique! both rooms had different decorations and wallpaper ect! Rooms was clean and good sized! Really comfortable, fresh towels ect provided alongside shampoo, conditioner ect. Staff was really pleasant and helpful! Noise wasn't bad, they did provide earplugs but these wasn't needed as we didn't hear anything😊 Took advantage of the 24hour Pizza! Loved we was able to come back after some drinks and order without having to browse anywhere ect! Would definetly stay again🥰 Perfect Value for money!

Great central location, room themes are lovely, staff were amazing, upgraded my room as I was there all weekend and only had a city pad booked. Breakfast was brilliant, lots of choice, fresh pastries and plenty of choice in hot food. Bar staff were lovely, they clearly live their jobs!
Decor could do with a little touch up. Some peeling paint in places Noticed some men wondering around on the 1st floor after breakfast, they had been begging for money the night before. Not sure how they got by the staff but was slightly uncomfortable by it as they were staggering around the hotel
