Theme and cleanliness of rooms, gym, pool Deck bar, restaurant and pool deck servers were friendly and location was great.

Gave an accessible room (without bathtub) to the only pair in our group of 6 who expressly indicated they wanted a bathtub. Coffee shop gave me back $2 of nickels as they had no change under $10 bills. Pool chemicals turned all of my silver jewelry black and pool deck bar is open to public so when an event is on at Petco the pool area is swamped with people and kitchen staff were not able to manage the load of both restaurant and pool bar food orders.

The staff was great. Our room was large and comfortable and quiet.

Our room was not clean. There was salsa left by a past guest in the refrigerator. The pool looked disgusting. It was a shame because that was one of the features we really wanted to use.

Great location, right in the middle of all the action. The best breakfast place is right across the street. Fun vibe. Excellent staff. Check in process was fantastic. Funky vibe. Complementary water was appreciated. Unique tropical touches throughout the building. Everything we needed was within a few blocks. Short walk to the tram and trolley systems.

Once the sun goes behind the other buildings, the pool gets cold. Would have been nice to have a hot tub nearby to warm up. It was a little loud one night because of the Padres game, but we knew what to expect and brought earplugs. A bit overpriced for a basic hotel. You’re definitely paying for the location and brand, more than anything. $65 to park overnight, which is why being close to transit was a good thing.

Location is great for exploring Gaslamp, the zoo, balboa park and most beaches were within 20 minutes. The beds were SO comfy. Room was a good size with good storage. Pool was just ok. It was much smaller in person than the pictures look. Also, too many cabanas and not enough "free" chairs.

The only thing I did not like about the room was the lack of storage in the bathroom. There is no countertop area around the sink. The only other negative is valet parking. SO expensive. We parked in a garage down the street for a couple days and ubered the rest of the week. Would have rented a car for the whole week had valet not been so expensive.

The amenities: gym, restaurant, coffee shop, rooftop bar were all great to have at your will. The hotel was clean and bright and airy. The valet staff were friendly and polite. Gilbert the bartender was very friendly and held conversations w us when we visited. Fun atmosphere

The cleaning staff left garbage in the trash cans twice during our stay. The front desk staff was a little dry and robotic. We did overhear a manager arguing with a guest over a mistake the guest had made in making their reservation, telling them “that’s not our problem and there’s nothing we can do about it now.” Her tone wasn’t friendly and she came off argumentative. Valet parking a little steep at $65/day

Lobby, pool and other recreational areas were fantastic with great photo ops at every turn. Staff was friendly. Coffee shop was actually good. The grab and go selection was okay. I would have loved a protein filled breakfast sandwich option (eggs, bacon, etc). To their defense there was a turkey and Swiss sandwich in their refrigerator, not bistro style (think white bread, and thin meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato). We needed a quick breakfast and eating that on my vacation would have been sad. Location in the Gaslamp district was great, right by the action but not on top of the action. You could still sleep if you wanted to! Decor in room was cute and themed. Bathroom area around the bathtub was a little tired with cracked tiles and caulking. Our light switches were functional but physically broken. Overall good and clean though!

Resort fees to me do not make sense. We didn't get any free arrival drink, or really anything. I read the list of resort fee inclusions such as sheets of paper for making prints and wifi. They did have a nice pool area so I will look the other way. Please just add the $35 to the hotel night fee. You still get taxed on the resort fee because of TOT. Heads up on the $65 per night parking fee as well. Not ridiculously outrageous but an interesting price point for a hotel not advertising to be high end. I've stayed at plenty of other hotels, including high end and in other cities that did not charge that much although the cost of living was similar.

Location and ambience

The staff didn’t inform us of the amenities when we checked in and we weren’t very welcoming, the television in the room had a delay, unfortunately streaming should not be the choice to use..

I would stay at this hotel again 100 times out of 100! The rooms were spacious, clean, and temperature controlled perfectly. It was in the absolute BEST location - really anywhere in Gaslamp would be great, but I was here for a work conference at the Convention Center and it's so easily walkable there. My husband also accompanied me on this trip and we went to two Padres games, also both walkable. Literally any kind of food you could want is around this hotel. The pool and bar are amazing! Happy hour from 4-7 every day with a friendly bar staff. Further, some Margaritavilles are timeshare spots - this is NOT that, so don't be afraid to book this true hotel!

If I had to complain about something, I would say they didn't play enough Jimmy Buffet. I am sure that the workers and other people reading this will LOVE that, but I maybe heard him twice over our four day stay. I would love to hear more of him!

Amazing location with plenty of food and drink options nearby. Short walk to the marina. Fabulous room which was comfortable and clean. Really lovely staff working in the little shop!

Would be good to tell us when checking in you were putting a $200 hold on my credit card, which took several days to come off after we had checked out!

Great hotel. Very clean and nicely designed. Was a lot closer to Petco Park than we realised. Fins up restaurant was fantastic and had great food and drinks there. “Perfect margarita” was perfect. The bath waa the biggest I’ve seen at any hotel, you could practically swim in it. Highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay again. Bathroom sink plug did get stuck down but staff helped and got someone to fix it straight away.

Wasn’t exactly the room we requested as the second bed was a fold out lounge but having two kids it didn’t matter much to us but might be annoying for others
