Room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, had the added bonus of a balcony. The bathroom was spotless, and having the bath and shower separate was good too. Location was in a beautiful setting, easy to reach other towns and villages within a short drive. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent.

Have only 2 niggles, had trouble adjusting the water temp in the shower and although there were blinds up, light was still coming through them and the window in the door, would have benefitted from having curtains up, but that's me I need a dark room to be able to sleep...

The hotel is situated in an area where there's lots to see and do. Within easy reach historic York to the east and Harrogate to the west with RHS Harlow Carr not forgetting Betty's. In a quiet village you can relax in the evening with excellent cuisine, can recommend the fish pie, at the hotel and a pint or 3 of local Theakston's best beer and no driving. If you're a National Trust member lots of places are within easy reach. Knaresboro on your doorstep can easily fill a day, market day is wednesday.

Very warm welcome from staff. All facilities as described. This is most definitely not a 3 star it deserves much more all staff very friendly and helpful nothing is any trouble . The room was beautiful and everything you would need . An added touch not that we used was an array of crisps and biscuits with an honesty box just incase you were peckish later . We were bed and breakfast 🥞 which we could not fault at all all cooked to perfection and also there was a continental array available also. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a restful stay . Thanks to all the staff .

The only thing I would say is we turned central heating off as rooms are very warm . Not a complaint in any way just a personal preference.

Excellent service and welcoming ambience. Breakfast was superb. We felt we mattered. Staff were cheerful and went above and beyond. The room had great lighting, including where I sat to do my hair and makeup when so often it's like being in a cave. There were sockets handy for the hairdryer and I could actually sit to do my hair and makeup. The shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and well cared for.

Being picky here: my husband thought the coffee served at breakfast was average and thought they should try another brand. We were surprised by the number of vehicles that used the road through the village, so I suggest earplugs for light sleepers who sleep with the window open.

We would highly recommend this place , it is just of the A1m , near to a lot of amenities, eg, Harrogate , Knarsborough , York , Ripon . In a beautiful village we went for a little break for my husbands birthday and to meet up with family , from arriving we were welcomed by a lovely girl , we were taken to our room , it was gorgeous, the bathroom was amazing with bath and very large shower , his n her sinks , beautiful room with very large comfy bed , the room was warm, comfortable , exceptionally clean ,with tea & coffee making facilities, TV , beautiful oak furniture and lovely decor with attention to detail ,making it feel like home from home , family came on the night to join us to have an amazing evening meal , where the staff were very attentive, pleasant, we were quickly served , the meal ,drinks were good value for the quality which was of a high standard . We had breakfast , which consisted of cereal, coisant, fruit, yoghurt, jams , then full English or various cooked breakfast menu , orange or apple juice and as much tea and coffee as we wanted , again the service was friendly , quick , and cooked to a very high standard , making our overall stay there excellant and we would definitely return and recommend. The blue bell is exceptionally clean throughout ,tastefully decorated, and all the staff are very pleasant and accommodating . Thank you for making my husbands birthday a special memory

It wasn't a dislike, as there was nothing we didn't dislike. It's more of a recommendation to advise for there to be coasters in the bedroom , as we could see previously someone had put a hot cup on your beautiful oak furniture and we thought that was such a shame as everything was immaculate

The staff’s enthusiasm was infectious with a nothing was a problem attitude, the ambiance was great and c/w generous portions of home cooked food from the restaurant was greatly appreciated. We stayed in one of their four boutique rooms, which was super comfy and highly recommended. The breakfast was excellent with loads of choice all of which were freshly made.

The Internet was a problem with limited access in the room; however this can be a blessing in disguise!!! Being a ‘very big lad’ the shower in room 1 was rather restricted – maybe ask ahead if you need another solution.

Most of all, we thought the friendly welcome, and the cheerfulness with which we were helped by all staff, was superb. Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide range of interesting choices, and the food served was highly satisfying. The whole stay was strikingly good value for money. This was a great first night stop on our way further north, and the surrounding area looks full of interesting things to see, so it would be a good base for local sightseeing too.

The staff were amazing - so helpful, attentive and friendly. The room was immaculate and comfortable and an offer was made to service the room on Christmas Day which I would not have expected. A lovely Christmas gift and a complimentary bottle of champagne were delightful and unexpected touches. As for the food it was exceptional-the best Christmas lunch ever. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful and all food in the restaurant was excellent. A perfect place to stay for Christmas

Location nice and good parking. Room spacious and bed fairly comfortable.

Blinds in room do not block out daylight. Very loud noise from unit behind toilet every time toilet flushed or water running from shower or sink. Unable to have shower first night only cold wash - no hot water. Breakfast not particularly hot especially mushrooms on all occasions. Although warned of live music happening - did not expect it to be directly under our room - needs soundproofing.

Everything! From arriving to leaving the stay was exceptional. The staff were so happy do help, serve, and make our stay memorable to a T. The food was exceptional, we had dinner and breakfast the next morning. The rooms were Pristine, which were prepared by Sharon. We then met Sharon in the morning as she served us our breakfast. Once again, she couldn’t do enough for us. I would definitely recommend The Blue bell to everyone, if heading that way or not. We will stay here again.
