Evening meal and breakfast was excellent.girl that checked us in and served breakfast was really friendly and nice.
We arrived at 1pm we knew check in was 4pm so we only wanted to leave the car in the car park, as we had an event,we went to reception to let them knew about the car, we rang the bell and a guy appeared, so we tried to tell him we had a room booked and is it ok to leave the car but he rudely interrupted saying it’s too early to check in come back at 4,and he turned and walked away. We later seen him serving in the bar and there was no manners while he was serving drinks.

The hotel is easy to find and conveniently located right next to the town center. Despite being close to the road, there was no noise from passing cars, which made our stay peaceful and relaxing. I also appreciated the dedicated parking spaces, which made things even more convenient. The rooms are well-equipped with everything you might need for both short and longer stays. Everything was clean, comfortable, and functional.
The hotel is a bit dated, and it takes some time for the hot water to come through – I ended up taking a cold shower. However, the location is very good, and the price is excellent for what you get. A decent option if you're looking for budget-friendly accommodation in a convenient area.

5 Stars – A Legendary Weekend at The National Hotel, Dingwall Let me set the scene: a group of lads, a football weekend, and the highlands calling our names. Enter The National Hotel in Dingwall – not just a hotel, but the beating heart of our unforgettable adventure. From the moment we strode through the doors (some of us a little worse for wear from the car journey), we were greeted like kings returning from battle. The staff? Absolute diamonds. Warm, witty, and always ready with a smile—or a pint. They didn’t just tolerate the boys; they embraced the chaos. Heroes, all of them. The rooms were palaces of comfort, the perfect haven after a full day of chanting, cheering, and charging through town like true football fanatics. Beds softer than a last-minute penalty dive, showers with the power of a Highland waterfall, and views that made you want to write poetry—or at least take a group selfie. Breakfast? A feast for champions. Hearty, glorious, and enough to silence even the loudest of hangovers. Black pudding that deserves its own fan club. And the bar—oh, the bar! It became our base camp, our war room, our sacred hall of banter. Locals joined in the laughter, the drinks flowed like tales of footballing glory, and not a single soul left without a story to tell. If you’re looking for sterile minimalism and corporate blandness, jog on. But if you want soul, spirit, and a place that turns a football weekend into legend—then The National Hotel in Dingwall is your cathedral. Already counting the days until our return. National by name, iconic by nature. Up the boys. Up the Dingwall weekend. We salute you, National Hotel.

The staff were so lovely and welcoming. The room was cosy, tidy and they even provided fans and heaters in case either were needed or wanted without even asking. The restaurant was lovely, good food and a discount on food when staying at the hotel. Quiet and quaint - a really relaxing stay with lots of access to nature and local walks. I drove and parked in their car park that had plenty of room but also super close to the station for non-drivers. Super good value too, a room in Inverness would cost double this! Thank you so much Xx
The showers are a bit tricky they take a while to heat up but they definitely do get hot you just have to wait - I have seen a lot of reviews complaining about them but you just have to be patient.

The hotel was warm on the cold January night when I arrived. Staff were helpful and the adjoining bar/restaurant served freshly cooked meals and offered a discount to hotel guests.
The front door is often locked but can be opened with a room key. The hotel can be accessed for checking in through the bar. It would be helpful if this could be mentioned to guests arriving for the first time.

Location, parking and staff were fine. Room size was good as was bathroom.
Hotel portrays it's self as dog friendly, they even put a blanket for the dog into the room, but I personally don't consider asking guests who eat there to eat in reception or put the dog into the car as dog friendly. The Sunday morning dining room staff were abysmal, unable or unwilling to talk (as in spoken reply to request or question) tables not cleared, only 6 in use and guest including ourselves had to hunt for crockery and cutlery and clear previous users dishes to get a seat. I am aware that they had a coach party leave early that morning and later on they were trying to put the room back to normal, but those current guests should have been priority.

One night stay, all in all fine. You will likely, like many reviewers have already pointed out, have to go into the restaurant to find someone to check you in. Free parking for hotel/restaurant guests at the back of the hotel - no longer paid public parking there - although there was a wedding party in the restaurant that Saturday night, so only one space left in early evening. Walking distance to a large Tesco.
The plastic window blinds made the room smell of unpleasant "decaying" old plastic, possibly not as much of a problem when it's not as warm as it was on that day in June.

The location is great as it's located in the high street so you've got plenty shops, bars & restaurants/takeaways nearby. The pub attached to the hotel is also handy for a few pints & a wee nightcap or 2. The room was clean & very comfortable, the staff were very friendly & helpful as well. The hotel also had on-site parking where they arrange a free permit for you for the duration of your stay. Also the breakfast was great too, a proper cooked breakfast which set me up nicely for the day! The value for money you're getting here is excellent & all in all it was an enjoyable & relaxed stay.
For some reason the shower in my room had no hot water on the last day of my visit. This might have just been a temp blip as it was fine for the rest of the time. I'm being picky here as apart from this slight thing the stay was brilliant.

Cleanliness of room, which was fully serviced every day. Bathroom shower of good pressure and functional, however there was no accessory shelf. Washbasin was excellent good pressure on all taps and perfect flow of hot water. Building quite clearly well maintained. Perfectly located near post box, and public transport stops. Short walk to local high street where eateries of all grades and retailers of all types abounded. All grades of staff were friendly and approachable.
Bathroom extractor fan noisy.Food menus ambiguous and costings unclear.

I travelled to Dingwall with my dog for a few days' break. My room at the National was sparkling clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I hope to come back.
The decor in the rooms was a bit dated (although there was a lovely modern café/bar/restaurant). However, that's possibly why they're happy to take dogs! There was an unmarked small step in the hallway right in front of the front door that I stumbled over a few times when coming in and out. It should be marked with black and yellow tape.
