Breakfast (full English) was terrific; I didn't know it was possible to serve food so impressively hot yet still so perfectly cooked. The staff were very friendly and responsive to requests, from us and other guests (they spent considerable time helping a customer find the expensive earbuds she had dropped and lost behind a seat the night before). The Chequers itself is a really lovely and characterful old building, with lots of separate areas to choose from, with a different feeling in every one (the video on www.thechequersmarlow.co.uk shows this very well). For the price we paid, our room and en-suite were spacious, and the bed was super-comfortable.

The kitchen's extractor fan, located close to our room (No6, at the back) is very intrusive. It's turned off when the kitchen closes, but restarts at 8.30am. In terms of location, there's a bit of Yin & Yang in that the high-street, centrally located Chequers is perfectly placed for exploring Marlow, but noisy passing ne'er-do-wells do have the potential to make their presence felt in the early hours.

Fantastic location on Marlow high street. 10 mins walk from the railway station. Spotless bed linen & bathroom towels. Great to have a powerful hairdryer ready to use. Nice lamps and a full length mirror in the room. I was given a key to come & go as I pleased, which was handy & meant I didn’t need to go through the bar to get in & out. I also liked the desk in the room, as I was working during my stay. The WiFi was free & worked very well for my calls. I didn’t eat there, but could have done. Lots of choice on offer.

I didn’t think the room had been cleaned when I arrived. This was especially apparent in the bathroom. However, when I raised this, the staff were very responsive & the next day, a thorough clean was done & I was much more comfortable.

We had the King Room for a week & it was perfect. The added bonus was a parking space. Breakfast was very good & the hotel’s location is hard to beat with all of Marlow on your doorstep. The staff were incredibly friendly & welcoming which added to our stay. When the main bar gets a little too busy, there is a quieter bar next door which was great for us. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Nothing. The only improvement would be a small fridge in the room.

We had a delightful stay! Its central location made exploring the Marlow a breeze, with everything just a short walk away. Our room was clean and cleaned every day, and really quiet. One unexpected highlight was the fantastic pub located just below the hotel. Although we don't usually frequent pubs, we found ourselves visiting it every evening during our stay. Now that we're home, we genuinely miss its warm atmosphere and friendly service. We can't wait to return!

Characteristic pub with lovely rooms right in the centre of Marlow . Staff were very friendly . Reasonably priced . We would stay there again . We never ate there but it was very popular and the food looked very nice .

The rooms were not very sound proofed as we could hear the rooms around us using the shower / opening & closing the door . However this did not bother us as it wasn’t very noisy .

We loved the location of the chequers , we were very pleased to have a car parking space . We enjoyed the shower room , the bedroom was nicely presented. The pillows were not very comfortable The outlook was not good but they could have put up screens or plants outside our window to improve this . Just a few additional things would have made our stay special .it was our 50th wedding anniversary and we did mention this but we were not even offered a drink on arrival. There were no boxes of tissues in the room, the coffee / tea tray was very basic. We did eat in one evening and the food was ok. Saying all this we enjoyed our time in Marlow a very lovely town.

I felt really comfortable in the room, it was so cosy going back there after a nice meal out. Bathroom was great, hot water immediately and it was clean. Downstairs there was a bar where we had breakfast. Excellent choice at breakfast. We also had a drink in the bar on arrival. The hotel is ideally situated on the high street so not far to walk anywhere. Also if you drive there is an overnight car park just around the corner which is only a 3-4 min walk away.

Great location and we were looked after well by the staff.

The window frames were in need of a deep clean as there was black mould in all the frames. We haven't stayed in this room before, but as ventilation is limited to one opening window and there is secondary glazing to manage the potential noise from the road it is not surprising there is mould these windows but they still need a regular clean.

Victoria kindly moved our reservation last minute for a poorly member of our party. We were so grateful as it was not possible in the terms and she wouldn’t have been able to sell the rooms at such last minute. I know this was a one off due January numbers but we were so so grateful as the reservations team at head office were less empathic!

Could have had a free breakfast if we had booked direct. Room was very warm but we opened window … just felt like a waste…. Although we do love to be cosy it was very hot!

The superb hospitality and professionalism of staff made up for the tired rooms. Clean and comfortable bedrooms but well overdue an upgrade considering the cost of the room. Good position on the Marlow high street and good vibe in the bar with excellent live band on Friday nights.

Noise could be an issue if staying in front rooms but all quiet after midnight.
