The location is superb, right in the heart of downtown Ottawa. We used to stay there under its previous guise (Capital Hill) which was getting decidedly “tired”, so were delighted at the facelift — now bright, clean, and we’ll-appointed.

Small point — the pillows are too “soft”, need at least one a little firmer. Larger point is that of parking — now none on-site so the best option is to use that at their sister location a couple of blocks away; not a huge inconvenience that can’t be addressed otherwise, and certainly of no concern to anyone without a vehicle.

Amazing location, and it was like a little apartment. It was thoughtfully laid out and very comfortable. Loved the clean modern feel.

The parking was a bit of a pain as it was not located on site but it was manageable once I figured out the system. A larger or more responsive keypad to enter the building would be better- saw many people struggling with multiple attempts.

Comfy bed

Strangly small bathroom for the size of the room. TV was parallel to the bed, meaning you can't easily watch from the bed.

I booked this accommodation pretty last minute due to a cancellation at another hotel and I was so impressed with the room and the facilities for the price. The room was impeccably clean, the kitchen had everything we needed for simple meals. The laundry machines were huge and free of charge which was much appreciated as we have been travelling for a few weeks. There was also common spaces to hang out in if you didn't feel like being in the room the whole time that were also incredibly clean. The location was very central and easily accessible. I would definitely book here again if I returned to Ottawa.

How cutlery and kitchen appliances were offered

How small the unit was (more so the bathroom - felt super tight) There was a black hair around one of the shampoo bottles in the bathroom when we first used it and noticed it (not ours) and they charge extra for room service (when asked to change the bedsheets) which caught us by surprise. They offered to give to us and to do it ourselves

Sonder Arlo combines the comforts of a B&B with the services of a hotel. We loved it! The unit was spacious, kitchen well-equipped. Two bathrooms a bonus. There were laundry facilities, luggage lockers, a game room and and a fitness room. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean, bed comfortable, the pull-out couch was not but that's expected I guess- the kids were ok with it. I'd love to stay in more places around the world like the Sonder. Our winter stay in Ottawa was made easier because the Sonder Arlo was situated very centrally. Close to the Rideau Canal, Parliament, etc. Close to bus stops for easy transfers.

I didn’t know it included breakfast until this question, no body said that.

The app/booking system is HORRIBLE!!! For some reason your system can’t send emails to my email address! I spent 24 hours asking your customer service to fix the problem, it was NEVER fixed. If it wasn’t because I was lucky enough to arrive to the property before the front desk left I would’ve never been able to access my room despite of fully paying and confirming everything. What a real nightmare! Your app asks me to reset the password but you never sent the link and there’s no way for your customer service to fix it. Their solution was for me to go and open a new email account!!! This is such bullshit!! I love your hotel but I’m not going through this nightmare ever again!

A decent little apart-hotel. I was visiting Ottawa once a week for several months and tried a number of different places, generally basing my selection criteria on price that week, proximity to my office (near the parliament buildings), and overall quality of the hotel. The Arlo got the job done. I wouldn't go there on my honeymoon, but if you're looking for more of a place to stay when in town on business, and it's in one of the weeks that the prices are lower, this one is a good option.

Nothing major to comment on. Picture staying in a generic studio apartment, nothing to make you say 'Wow'... just a place to stay.

Everything one needs was there, clean and brand new. Check-in was online, instructions were clear. Location is unbeatable

For me the experience was too high-tech. I was staying just for one night, but the process of online check in, setting up a profile was really time-consuming. Upon arrival the hotel door is closed, you need to go to you phone, mailbox to look for the code and instructions, then you need to have multiple step process to get a WiFi code. Same with storage of luggage - it is self service, when you take your bags to the locker and lock with a code. Everything was working, but I would prefer for one night stand to have something less involved. Once you get to know how it works, it is fine. It was like an Air BnB than the normal hotel I was booking.
