The roof top bar offered an amazing view of the Hudson and Jersey City, especially at night, and fantastic drinks and food. Staff was very friendly. The most comfortable hotel mattress I have slept on in years. It was also insanely quiet and we didn’t hear anyone else while in our room. I also love the location. It’s a relatively quiet block on the weekend, but within walking distance of plenty of food options, art galleries, etc.
The only suggestion I could offer to improve our stay is brighter lights in the bathroom, especially above the mirror.

The staff were warm and professional and accommodated all of our requests. The hotel has a boutique feel to it with only eight rooms of each floor. The rooms are large and comfortable and it was lovely waking up to a Hudson River view each day. I would recommend Hotel Hugo to anyone wanting to stay around the SoHo area of Manhattan who enjoys a quieter base which is within a short walk to the West Village, central SoHo and TriBeCa.
As others have mentioned, the walls between two rooms do little to keep overly loud voices out. Fortunately for us, we only have to endure this for one night as the other guests were mindful and polite of others staying around them.

Great location, 5-10 min walk to subway stops & walking distance to West Village & Tribecca. Room was clean, well appointed, comfortable bed, good water pressure and hot shower. Nice to have a bathroom door that closes properly (not a slider). Had a partial water view from 9th floor. Deluxe room is a decent size and easily fit two people with carry-ons. Isis at the front desk is excellent and provides professional service, a true hotelier. The staff was very friendly overall, professional and well trained. Free hot or ice coffee at Felix was a great bonus too.
While not an issue, the proximity to the UPS facility caused some minor noise in particular on Sunday evening (12am - 3am) which seemed to be a high activity time. It did not bother me, felt like normal city noise, but bothered my boyfriend who is very sensitive to noise. I also think the window had not been closed properly as we opened and reshut it and that seemed to help. So that’s a tip if you find the noise is getting through or wind is howling.

Location was great. A little off the beaten path but very close to a subway station and a short walk to many bars and restaurants. My husband and I enjoyed the location and felt we could get to everything.
Hotel room doors were a bit hollow and you could easily hear hallway/other room noise. This wasn't a major issue but it was noticeable.

Front desk and staff super nice. We asked for towels and they brought them right up. Room was quiet, and bed comfortable. The famous "Ear Bar" across the street is nice for a drink or meal! The bodega also has great takeout food and open late! The café in lobby had very good breakfast, which was still available at late checkout our last day. Coffee or tea is free for guests.
We didn't have any problems. Just wish the rooftop bar was open a bit earlier. It opens at 5pm, but by then we were always out and about, sightseeing or getting ready for a show. It'd be nice to grab a bloody mary or two before heading out. They were nice and let us check out the view before they opened though. Just sad we never got to enjoy it. As someone else mentioned, they're are not many options closeby for breakfast/lunch besides Ear Bar.

Thé heating and cooling system. The bed That there was more lighting in the room and hallways than the last time I stayed. The bistro downstairs.
Small rooms with little natural light. Pillows Broken shower handle and running out of hot water. Liquid body soap container didn’t work. Would I ask the staff for help on these? No, see below. Wait at elevator. Lobby Front staff and cleaning staff not very helpful or responsive Cleaning staff absent. We were gone all day and the hour we were home before going out again all evening was when the cleaning staff arrived. They said they would come back but didn’t. Another day they didn’t come. I left a message for the manager, Chris? About the room rate I believe I was incorrectly charged and s/he didn’t call back. I have left with Booking.com on line about the room rate and the reply was to talk to the hotel. I talked to the hotel and they said talk to Booking.com

The Hugo is very convenient for the trip of trip we take to NYC; we love Soho and Tribeca area and these are both easily walkable from the hotel. It is also convenient for Spring Street subway station and a wide range of restaurants. The rooms have a slightly nautical feel which is a pleasant change from chain hotels. We typically request a high floor river (west-facing) view but some of the other rooms have rather less attractive views. Easy to access the tremendous Hudson River Parkway for walks, runs, skating, biking, and more.
The rooms are starting to feel a little tired, especially some of the the bathrooms. There is limited space for luggage and hanging clothes and more than a 4-day stay would become a little weary for two in the room. The elevators are still on the slow side. Luggage storage is limited both in the rooms and via concierge. The breakfast cafe can get crowded/slow but does serve good coffees and food. While I like the location, it is not really suitable for anyone wanting to spend most of their time on the east side or in midtown.

It’s a very good location .Little gym .We loved rooftop bar .It was very convenient for the New Year night party.
hotel already needs some upgrades especially room.Everything was outdated and very little space in the room .We couldn’t feet our 3 suit cases.Price was too high for what they offer .We got no view from the window in our room.It was facing some little roof structure, and other windows of the building.Toilet cover was broken,no hand soap in the bedroom during all 5 days of our stay, they didn’t bring it even after the cleaning.

I’ve got nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. The location of the Hugo can’t be beaten. It’s a very short walk to the Hudson River park; a very short walk to Soho and Tribeca and the lower East Side is also pretty accessible, as is Greenwich Village and midtown. It’s just perfect. The hotel has a very good bar on the ground floor. Unlike the ear-bleeding noise experienced on the roof bar, this bar is quiet and sophisticated. And last but not least, the staff (with one exception) are incredible. Housekeeping was very good and the rooms were always cleaned by lunchtime. The front-of-house team is led by Mike, who is without question of one of nicest and most professional hotel managers I’ve ever met. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a few issues during a stay with the water temperature due to a supply problem and something out of his control, but Mike and Gi Gi were consummate professionals and made sure we were compensated for our trouble. They were both so nice and friendly that we actively made a point of chatting to them both before we left the hotel early in the morning or when we returned at night. They are hospitality stars!
The lifts! I stayed at the Hugo five years ago when I got married in Manhattan. After that stay, I left a pretty positive review. I did mention what a chore it was waiting for the lifts and suggested that one of the two lifts be reserved for people staying at the hotel, while the other one could be used by people visiting the hotel to use the roof bar. Unfortunately, my suggestion was not adopted and I found the problem with drunks in the lift was just as bad this time as it was on the first. So, to anyone thinking of staying at the Hugo I would suggest that they request a room as far away from the very noisy roof bar as possible. If you do that then the Hugo is a very good place to stay.

Had very pleasant stay in Hugo Hotel. Warm staff, clean and comfortable hotel room. The room size is bigger than I've expected.
The lift took a while to come and sometimes it wobbled a lot (can be a bit scary at times) and I found it hard to turn the Shower Know (a bit heavy) with the shower slide door not able to be closed (so the water went everywhere). But those are pretty minor for me, I'd definitely comeback.
