The hotel was excellent all round. The staff were very friendly and helpfull.

We had booked for a ground floor room, and by email I asked for a a walk in shower. When we arrived we were told that our room had a bath with a shower. My wife is unable to get in the bath due to a disabilty. They looked for another room and suggested one on the third floor. They had a lift. We looked at it and it was totally unsuitable. The manager was called and after a short period he found a room on the second floor with a walk in shower. The manager commented that the room was an upgrade. It was and it satisfied our requirements even though it was not on the ground floor.

The staff were very helpful, especially on the first night when I found the room had a skylight, which would have been disturbing in the morning. The receptionist managed to give us a new room, even though they were very busy. Breakfasts were very good. Plenty to eat.

One small thing that would have been helpful at breakfast would have been to have Cornflakes for those who don't eat high fibre cereal. I think they were trying to offer more healthy cereal but they did offer Coco Pops!! The fruit salad was nice but it was mainly all varieties of melons! Unfortunately, due to being by the lake, the midges were a slight nuisance as you had to keep your window shut after a certain time in the evening or they would come in and the room got very hot as a result!

What a beautiful hotel...set in woodland I can imagine in makes a wonderful wedding venue which seems to be its main focus. The bedroom was beautiful with a great view of the gardens. Bed was supremely comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. Food in the bar was excellent.......just a pity that I had such an early start, based on my dinner I imagine the breakfast would have been fantastic......

As a business traveller the one big downside I found although not the hotels fault was that there is absolutely no mobile signal at all, certainly on the Vodafone network. The free wi-fi also struggled to be honest, whilst the strength was good in the bar area, in my room it was only 1 bar of wi-fi strength so unable to log on and finish off some work stuff......This was however the only negative I could find....

Beautiful location and hotel. Loved the decor in the bedroom. Old worldly. Fine dining menu was really good. Not to many people staying and mostly couples which was nice.

Had to ask for a fan for the room as it was really hot that day and the room was closed up and stifling when we arrived. Would have been nice to have been aired out before we arrived. Needs a mini fridge to access cold water. The curtains needed some attention in our room. Dining room could do with some homely touches as felt it was slightly undressed some sideboard, lamps, flowers on tables would help.

Nice property in a forest location with a lake. Beautiful garden at this time of year. Some lovely old paintings with stories. Not a bad room but a bit old fashioned and a few snags and an aggressive shower. Maybe some refurbishment needed. Breakfast was large and fresh but had to ask staff to be more proactive.

The late flight and the late arrival meant we were queuing behind parents picking up their teenagers from the prom. There seemed to be no one managing the traffic for guests. It would be helpful to have this as there are so many events. We were welcomed by the night staff. Took a while to get checked in. But a friendly face at last.

The location is ideal for Manchester airport. Very quiet. Good helpful staff. Excellent breakfast Large room Comfortable bed and pillows A beautiful old stately building

No aircon - I think this is a must now in hotels because of climate change. The bedroom furniture was shabby but not chic. We have stayed in hotels with traditoonal styling and what looks like 17th century furniture but it's actually new ( you can tell by the hinges!), but it looks the part and much better than old brown furniture that nobody wants.

The reception was excellent, the room comfortable and the evening meal in the restaurant was very good indeed. Bar staff were under pressure, ordered a Gin & Tonic then told no lemon or lime which was ridiculous in a 4* hotel. Clearly they did have lemon but inexperienced bar staff didn’t be bothered to go to kitchen to ask, bar manager should ensure bar is appropriately stocked in future. Some drinks were unavailable such as pudding wine which was disappointing. Breakfast, although choice limited, was good and waitress very friendly and accommodating. Overall, a great stay and we plan to return.

In experienced bar staff who weren’t prepared to go the extra mile to the kitchen for a lemon for a g&t !

Beautiful and peaceful from the moment you enter the private driveway. Plenty of parking including charging points. Check in was quick, easy and friendly. Lift to all floors which was welcome. our room was Hydrangea and WOW this room did not dissapoint in any direction you looked. The little welcome treat was very welcome to help celebrate my Husbands 50th birthday celebrations. staff were friendly, and helpful. Bar, this was lovely and cosy. Good selection of beers, wines and Gins etc... didn't think it was expensive considering today's prices and the venue. Dining was lovely, relaxing, delicious food whether it was breakfast or dinner. We also had afternoon teA which was delicious 😋 Never felt rushed in the 2 nights we stayed in anything. so was nice to chill. Walk around the grounds to look at the lake. Thank you for your help organising our stay.

My only gripe would be the bed was a little too high for me being a short person. so getting in was like a mountain climb each time...

The location and privacy was excellent for a quiet relaxing break. The staff we're all polite, friendly and most welcoming. The food was excellent quality, cooked well and presentation was 1st class. Our room was very spacious with 1st class facilities, the bath was huge and the bed also, it was also very comfortable 😊

There wasn't anything not to like, one little thing to note though was the evening menu was a little limited but didn't detract from the excellent quality

I booked this stay at the last minute, on the morning of my arrival, and was pleasantly surprised by the room I received. It was incredibly spacious, almost like a suite, complete with a dining table for four. The room was not only large and comfortable but also offered everything I needed for the night and more, all at a very reasonable price.

The room was pleasant, though the bathroom could use some updating. After a long workday, I was looking forward to unwinding, but the bar area was quite small and filled with people dressed up. This made me feel out of place in my comfortable jogging bottoms and t-shirt.
