Beautiful rural location. Great staff and service. Excellent food. Local ales in fine condition. Plenty of character throughout, combines being a pub and a restaurant very well. Very well maintained grounds with extensive outside seating. Very comfortable accommodation in the cottage, which is away from the main road so it’s quiet at night. Huge bathroom (deluxe double) with bath and powerful shower. It’s everyone I’d expect from a Sawday’s recommendation. B&B cost £160 which is ok in this post-covid era.
Food and drink prices are quite high.

We stayed in the old school house which was warm and very comfortable, in a super convenient location with ample private parking well away from the main road so lovely and secure and very quiet. The grounds are stunning, the view across the pasture to the cricket club beyond is quintessentially English and the food in the pub itself, where we ate dinner AND breakfast was phenomenal!

Really lovey old pub with rooms available. We stayed in separate cottage building round the back which was great as it was quiet and had easy access to the car park. We used this as a holiday base to visit nearby castles, walking and the coast. Inside full of old character log fire etc, huge beer garden at the rear. Breakfast (included) was really good. Managers and staff were great, very helpful and efficient. Would definitely stay again.
Very Minor gripes/observations. Very sad that the Thursday Wood fired pizza oven was not operational during our visit (due to possibility of rain) Restaurant meals are good but a bit pricey. Would have stayed all week -but it was booked out on Saturday night (every decent place is booked out on Saturday way in advance these days it seems). Rear Car park rear entrance has a high camber so watch out low slung sports or long wheel base vehicles. I think there is a separate entrance via a gate which avoids this camber.

Lovely rural, rustic Inn with gest rooms Main restaurant was very pleasant, had old world charm, beams, artwork and lots of history. Dinner menu was small, but filled with local food. Dinner was amazing 10/10. Service fantastic and friendly. Breast again was full of local quality foods, freshly cooked to order. Again served in the main restaurant

Historic country pub with great food and lovely rooms , we were in the cottage at the back facing the open countryside with deer roaming about, pheasants and lots of different species of birds . The rooms in the cottage are individual with en suite large bathrooms and private entrances to them . We would definitely stay again , the staff very helpful and welcoming .
Nothing it is perfect

Breakfast was excellent, with high quality ingredients. Best I’ve had in a hotel in UK for many years. Dinner in the restaurant is also very good; the place has a well-deserved reputation locally.
Note: For the pub rooms with shared bathroom only: Bathroom was a bit basic. Shower functional but water pressure very low and it would have taken a long time to fill the bath. Plus point - the shared bathroom was onl shared between the 2 rooms that I had booked, and just across the corridor.

Lovely clean rooms in separate building with great views of the countryside. Staff were welcoming, polite and considerate and did a full check of the room when we arrived to iron out the wrinkles (they noticed we were light on towels and sent in extras). Pub is very comfortable and welcoming and food is excellent. There's a great choice of wine too. We choose to eat dinner there and also the breakfast was excellent. Coffee was good and strong.

The pub was built in 1595 and has a lot of character. We stayed in the room above the pub. It was spacious and had a big bath with a bathtub. Dinner at the restaurant was fantastisk and we enjoyed drinks in the bar afterwards. Given that it is an old building, the floors creaked a little but this was all part of the charm. The staff were friendly and made ut fell welcome.
I wish the parking spaces were a tiny bit bigger.

Our room was in a very charming old building (an old school house I think) out in the countryside on the Kent / East Sussex border. The room and facilities were excellent as was the breakfast too. The staff at The Dorset Arms were very friendly and helpful too. This is a great place to get away and relax and is a good base to visit the Ashdown Forest or Tunbridge Wells area.

The setting and view from the windows were absolutely stunning. The breakfast and service were really great too. The size of the room and comfortable bed were fantastic!
A couple of the window blinds didn’t work, a lightbulb was missing and I couldn’t switch the lights on when I arrived in the dark. This just took the edge of what was otherwise a wonderful stay and left me feeling a bit cheated for the high price tag.
