We stayed three nights at the country house and loved every minute of it. The house itself with its friendly staff, cozy rooms and 3-course-dinner was already unique. The stay included two Game drives per day and each was an adventure of its own! Thanks to our rangers Marlie and Hain we not only got to see many animals - we learned about their behavior such as the plants, history and culture of Amakhla. Huge recommendation!

A very authentic lodge with history. We went on 2 x 3 hour safari's each day and each time saw different animals. During our 3 night stay we saw 4 of the Big 5 plus many other animals expertly pointed out by our ranger, Marley. Lodge staff, especially Penny, were exceptional, constantly going the extra mile for the guests. Food was excellent quality and plentiful. You really won't go hungry here! Rooms are traditional , spacious and clean. Some of the fixtures , like the showers are older as you would expect in a property of this age. All in all, a great place to stay and experience the animal kingdom in the Amakhala reserve. Thank you to all the staff for an excellent time.😁
There was not a food choice at dinner which didn't bother us at all, also staff were very happy to accommodate requests

Meals were outstanding; location was great; good example of a traditional country ranch house, grounds were spacious in a fine natural setting. The staff was courteous, pleasant and highly efficient. Learning about the history of Leeuwenbosch and Amakhala was very fascinating. They provided phantastic safaris.
Period year of furniture provided an intriguing atmosphere, however, infrastructure like e.g. bathrooms fixtures, WiFi were not updated.

Big country-style room, but has everything you need. Shower. Bath tub. Bed with heating. Inside and outside seating. Wardrobe. Very friendly staff. Food was amazing. But best of all, the game drives! Lots of animals to see. Huge space. Our ranger - Mali - was very knowledgeable and allowed for extra time to spend with the various animals - elephants, cheetah, giraffes, lions, rhinos and lots of different antelopes.
Nothing to complain!

Food was amazing, staff were wonderful - they couldn't have done enough for us. Location was perfect as just off the N2 and not far from Port Elizabeth to catch our flight. Our safari guide Mel was outstanding - very passionate about the animals and their habitat and extremely knowledgeable.
The weather!

Staying at Leeuwenbosch Country House was definitely a highlight of our South Africa Roadtrip. The house is very clean and it’s furniture and especially the people make it very homey. We felt comfortable and welcomed right away. Everything is catered for and the food was really good. But the highlight were definitely the game drives. We only stayed for one full day but saw 4 out of the big 5. It was a very special experience!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The food was very tasty and well presented. The game drives informative and varied. The ranger Ouboet was very knowledgable.
Little to fault at this lodge. Possibly need to keep up the maintenance.

The game drives were EXCELLENT! Our guide Mali was superb. We saw Lions, Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes, and Elephants. Not to mention a few other denizens of the African plains. Food was great. Staff super friendly.
Some minor maintenance issues but given the VERY reasonable cost and the other excellence of everything else, not a big deal.

Amakhala consists of several old farms which decided to give up farming and start as a game lodge (years back). So nature reconquered the plantations and ecologists supervise the balance of animals. Leeuwenbosch is one of these old farms. We did two game drives (afternoon and early morning) which are included in the room tariff. Ranger Eubut is phenomenal, he shares many information about animal and plants and their habitat. We saw Cheetas, Elephants, Black Rhinos, Hippos and all kinds of Antilopes, Birds and small animals. Amazing! Food (which is all inclusive) was excellent and served by extremely friendly personnel. Extra point: there is a pub where you can sit with other guests before / after evening dinner and have a drink and chat. Bottom line: Very pleasant stay, very nice game experience. Recommendation!
Bathroom would require some refurb

Arriving at Leeuwenbosch is like stepping back to a time of gracious living. The house was built in 1908 and has large rooms tastefully decorated and full of antiques and family portraits. Frint of house Kerry welcomed us and gave a guided tour of the property. Her husband Steve was also on hand to make sure we were comfortable. Our guide Ouboet was exceptionally knowledgeable, not only in fauna and flora, but also in the area’s history. All the staff were smiling and courteous.
Can’t think of anything!
