The staff at the hotel are incredible and make your stay feel like no request is too much. You really feel pampered. The spar is fantastic and the over all ambiance of the hotel is truly unique. I highly recommend staying.

There were a few little quirks of the hotel that were a little surprising. The train that passes very infrequently but when it does the whole hotel vibrates. It does not distract from the ambience and it’s actually quite a fun quirk but it was strange to experience in a 5 star hotel without any prior warning.

When booking a trip to Duoro valley, my parents and I were told Six Senses was a must, but upon doing a little research, I came across the newly opened Torel Quinta da Vacaria. With only 2 reviews at that time (be it they were both 10/10 recommend) I was a little apprehensive to take the risk, but got the feeling it would be more cosy and authentic to the region. So we booked the newly opened Torel Quinta da Vacaria and it was the BEST DECISION EVER! Words cant describe how incredible this hotel is!! From the staff, the facilities, the views, the grounds, the rooms, the decor, the pool, the spa, everything was exceptional- all you can expect from a 5 star hotel and then some! The hallways smell incredible! The beds were very comfortable. The mini bar, coffee, tea, water was plentiful. But What stood out was the staff. They are so incredibly kind and attentive. In addition to the somewhat expected courtesies of a 5 star Hotel (i.e. helping with bags, valeting the car, activity and restaurant advice) they truly went above and beyond- making arrangements with service providers outside of the hotel, leaving water bottles in our car for when we picked it up, being extremely patient with our constantly changing plans and our somewhat chaotic group, they were always happy to help with a smile. Last and most touching, i fell ill on our last day- they offered to allow me to stay as long as I needed to rest, (i slept until 3pm!) and even offered to call a doctor to come to the hotel. We enjoyed the restaurant, the wines, the pool, the spa and more. Everything was perfect!

Everything was exceptional. The only small comment would be a little more variation/selection at breakfast (yogurt and more fruit), but thats a personal preference (and im sure they would have accommodated my request had i asked :-)) Honestly its hard to find anything they could’ve improved..it was perfect.

The hotel staff was wonderful, helped us book all our wine tours, restaurant reservations and so on. The hotel is beautiful, perfectly located, beautifully designed and the rooms are perfect. The food was delicious (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

I would say it was a bit too pricey considering the hotel was not completely finished as they are still adding facilities and areas but the stay was still worth while. Pillows could be a bit more comfortable.

The hotel was amazing, with beautiful view of the river and vineyards. We really enjoyed the hotel's spa area. The staff were professional, attentive and friendly. However, what impressed us most was design of the hotel. Amazing.

Just one small, not important thing - the restaurant staff uniforms are a little bit unusual, giving the impression they were borrowed from a spa ;) I would replace them at earliest opportunity :)

Absolut stunning views of the valley and the river, rooms extremely well designed, the breakfast was very generous and full of local delicacies, we didn’t try the restaurant, the spa is complete and can accommodate comfortably the guests in the hotel without becoming crowded, the young local crew handling the guests was very efficient and they are genuinely focused in making your stay just perfect.

Beautiful location and facilities (pool, spa, gym), excellent wine, very attentive staff and the food on-site was exceptional.

Brand new hotel with a couple kinks still being worked out - there was a false security alarm that went off regularly between 5am and 9am.

Everything, there’s nothing to dislike! It was a perfect getaway and an oasis away from the chaos of life. From the staff to the amenities - it was really perfect

As its slogan says it, exceptional! Wonderful views, the hotel is very nicely designed, the staff very friendly and accommodating. They had been open for only 2 weeks when we went and everything was already running smoothly. The pool is the highlight, with views of the river and the hills

The hotel is brand new and set on the banks of the Douro. Stunning rooms - very highly appointed. Superb spa. Gracious staff. Fabulous food. We could have stayed longer. The whole place is an island of serenity. We will return.
