The rooms are super clean and very comfortable, with excellent housekeeping. The location is a bit far from the town but it’s just 5 mins to everything you need on a scooter. We enjoyed some nice restaurants nearby (Myst, Guitar Woodhouse & BarWoo we’d recommend!). The pool was nice with towels provided.

There were a few oddities which we feel took the luxury away from this hotel. You have to pay a cash deposit, and the room key has to be handed in any time you go out. It means you can’t leave your room to cool if going out for an evening meal. We felt the restaurant wasn’t as good as the reviews here - for example we paid 350 pesos for breakfast yet got charged extra for milk for our tea. This comes in a jug which holds only about 20 ml and they charge you 20 peso for it… 1 peso per ml of milk seems odd when any other hotel would provide this with the tea as a standard! The outside gym didn’t have free weights like the photos, just pull up bars and one kettlebell which was a shame. In general is a very nice hotel, but would say it feels more like a 3 star.

Location was perfect for peace and quiet and also perfectly located for tours and Alona. It was immaculately clean and the bed was super comfy. Hot water in the fabulous shower was so needed too. The menu was a Mediterranean style and the food was outstanding. We ate every night there as it was so good. Our hosts Sorina and Mihai and the staff were all beautiful and super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. . The pool was the cleanest and coolest out of all the properties we have stayed. Sunbeds around the pool for chilling and the staff will bring cushions when you’re using them. We had our laundry cleaned there also, beautifully folded and ironed. We explored the chocolate hills on ATV, visited Tarsier sanctuary, saw the most perfect sunsets ever …Thank you for the best 5 days .. we love you all 🥰

Stayed 4 nights in Selectum Mangrove Resort. The resort is located in quiet place. There’s no disturbing noise but peaceful nature sound all the time. But it doesn’t mean that place is far away from the convenient facilities. We rent a scooter from resort, and it tooks about only 5min to alona beach area. Every facilities were super clean and comfortable. Pool is great to swim. It was clear that the owner is putting a lot of effort into maintaining the resort well. And most of all, every filipino staffs were super kind and helpful!! + We watched fireflies every night(on the big tree inside the resort)

Absolutely spotless, the hotel is so well maintained and the room is comfortable with a nice hot shower. The pool area is great for relaxing with sun loungers and towels to use. The gym is great to keep you fit on your holidays. The owners of the hotel are so lovely and will be able to help you with anything you need. It was my birthday and they arranged flowers, balloons etc which was beautiful. They also took us on an island tour and arranged all of our transport when needed. And even stored our bags for a couple of days when we took an island trip. The staff are always around to answer any questions too. The location is great as it’s more of a local feel and not in the chaos of Alona and there is restaurants in walking distance or you can take a short ride to the busy town. Highly recommend booking this hotel for a stress free trip to Bohol

Nothing it was perfect!

Selectum Mangrove is a small, family-friendly hotel that offers a very nice and calm atmosphere. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, making you feel right at home. Alona Beach is conveniently close, and I rented a bike, which made it just a 5-minute ride from the hotel. The food at the hotel is exceptionally delicious, all made locally with fresh ingredients—nothing is pre-cooked. The pool is a wonderful feature there is also a gym, and the room is spacious enough for two people, providing a perfect blend of comfort and relaxation.

This is a great location away from the hustle and bustle off the main st. Down a laneway which is dark at night (nothing to do with this resort as it’s local owned) so need a torch. We ate breakfast there and done the job, staff and owners couldn’t be more helpful. Word of warning if you don’t like dogs then don’t come but if like me you love them then come here. But honestly who doesn’t like dogs Pool & Gym are perfect if you want to relax and have a small workout

Small issues like not getting milk with the tea and being charged 25p for it, maybe an oversight but nothing major.

I like that the owner “Sorina” and her staff pay attention to small details and the cleaning level of the rooms. They do not allow eating in the room but you can eat in the terrace or by the swimming pool which I agree with to stop ants. The neighbourhood is very quiet which worked very well for me. Sorina is helpful with a very good network. I needed to book diving sessions and she contacted the owner of best dive centre in Alona beach which is owned and operated by 100% very skilled and professional Felipinos “Alona divers” and organised dives for me. Highly recommend this place for the peace of mind.

Really lovely, relaxing and peaceful place to stay. Rooms are modern and very clean with everything you need. Terrace and pool very nice. Food is good quality and well priced. Staff super helpful and friendly makes for a very family feel. They arrange tricycles to the town/beach for you as well as longer distance travel. Yesterday when it was the fiesta and the only day its Ricky to get a tricycle the staff drive me to the beach free of charge. It's outstanding value for money and I highly recommend it.

The owner was very kind to arrange travel for us for our required destinations. ( Sea of Clouds for which we left at 3.30 in the early morning.) The staff is excellent and attentive to your every need. We liked the location. This is a late post I travelled in early november. I am not sure if I remember the chef's name correctly, I think it's Lily and she prepared an excellent meal for us. Forgive me if i got the name wrong. The owners are very friendly. Overall a great stay.

I would have given a 10 except that we faced slight issue in the water supply to the shower and the washroom on the 2nd day. Though I understand that water supply from the municipality is not in anyone's control, however if the water pressure would have been better it would have been the perfect stay.

You can definitely feel that Selectum Mangrove is the result of effort and love. The place has been built by the owners from scratch and has a beautiful garden with pool that make you feel like home. The place is really quiet and you can see the fireflies in a tree inside their garden by night. Michel and Sorina will do everything to make sure you have a great experience, they helped us grabbing trycicles, told us what were the best beaches to visit and received us last minute and prepared everything to make sure we were comfortable. Breakfast was also really nice with plenty of choices. This place is not exactly in the centre of Alona (maybe 5 minutes by motorbike) and that is also what makes it so quiet and special. Such a pleasant place to stay. One of those places where you make friends along the way. Looking forward to repeat the experience.
