We always stay at the Tryp Panama Centro when we go to Panama. It has become our go to hotel!. The staff are wonderful, from the reception desk. housekeeping, dining area & maintenance crew! They are always pleasant, and very helpful!. When we stay at the Tryp we ask for a certain room & we usually are able to get that room. This year we discovered that the room was restructured and changed to our dislike! We are sorry that we no longer have a "special, upgraded room when we come". Hopefully any further changes will only enhance not detract from the appearance of the hotel. The location of the hotel is great! It is close to shops, pharmacies, grocery stores, restaurants & the Metro which you can take across town in minutes!

1.The room which we usually stay while at the hotel was restructured & found to be not as accommodating as it used to be! It used to be considered an "upgrade". Now there is NO upgrade! 2. The INTERNET system should be updated to allow a one time log on once you are in the hotel. We had to log on everytime we left the room & return to the room. If we went to the pool area, we had to re-log in, and then when back in the room, re-log in. If we went to the dining area we had to re-log in again. 3. PEST CONTROL!!! The hotel does a pretty good job with PEST CONTROL, but this year it seemed like it was lacking a bit. NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT!

The hotel is well located downtown with a metro station just a few minutes walk away which links you to the airport and to the old town. The street leading from the metro to the hotel is pretty scruffy and litter-strewn but has plenty of convenience stores and seems very safe. The lobby was very smart and very modern, with the breakfast room behind it which was a good size. My room was light and airy and very large and had a well-appointed bathroom (but see below for some negative issues though). The breakfast was very good with a great variety of both hot and cold offerings. Competitive value for money I guess looking at the prices of the other similar quality hotel chains around the neighbourhood.

A bad start: although it was a few hours before the 3pm check-in I was told the room was ready and available but I would have to pay extra to access it early. This seemed remarkably mean when all other hotels I have been to would gladly give you access for free if they could. The staff were efficient but rather cold and aloof. The bedroom decor was uninteresting, plain and colourless, and without carpets (instead having laminate flooring) which is unusual for high-end hotels, and the windows were very dirty on the outside. The wifi completely failed hotel-wide for 5 or 6 hours at one point - a notice in the lobby keeping clients updated on the issue would have been useful.

I loved the room in a double room. It was clean, smelled delicious, and clean. The breakfast was buffet style, and every dish was exquisite 👌 The pool and jacuzzi were so relaxing; the gym and the sauna were included too; it was very satisfying, and I loved the attention from the waiter, but I don't remember his name; he helped me to find a drugstore because I was feeling bad on my period. I enjoyed every second there. I recommend going two nights because one is not enough, and you will wish to have separated two nights just like I do. I fully recommend this place!!

Good location & value. Many restaurants & shops in the area, including a handy laundromat right next door; maybe 10-15min walk to the Via Argentina area for even more bars & restaurants. Room was comfortable & clean, nice city view. Enjoyed the rooftop pool! Breakfast was good, starts at 06:00 so most days it fit schedule for tours pick up. Also had good dinner one night--try their pumpkin soup. Good wifi. Would absolutely stay here again & have recommended it to friends.

Nothing that would stop me from recommending to stay here but did note the pool bar wasn't open & sometimes the towels weren't restocked. (No big deal!)

We stayed a total of 4 nights in this hotel throughout our trip to Panama. The check-in process was fast, staff was nice, rooms spacious, nice breakfast. Rooftop pool and bar are great, as you can order food there from the restaurant downstairs through the waiter or a phone and they deliver ir there. Food is good and decent priced, lots of options and offers on cocktails. Water fountain available at reception. Stored our bags during our trip to San Blas and provided us breakfast to go at 5 a.m., which was really nice. Easy to call Ubers there and to go around the city, close to major rental car companies and small shops.

Although not ordinarily larger hotel and/or hotel chain fans the Tryp by Wyndham suited us perfectly for our time in Panama City. Spacious king room, views over the city skyline, attentive room service (though we had to ask daily at Reception for bottled water to be replaced). Fabulous sleep in the big king bed. Transport, restaurants and bars within walking distance.

A few simple things could amplify the Tryp experience! Coffee and tea served at breakfast need to be improved. Only mediocre pre brewed coffee included, extra charge for espresso etc. Which, incidentally was also mediocre, in Panama one would expect decent coffee. The water to prepare tea was tepid/luke warm, therefore, not hot enough to brew the tea. Breakfast is acceptable buffet style, personally not a fan of breakfast buffets (prefer quality over quantity). That being said it was adequate, stations were replenished and you could find something to suit from the options. Take it if it’s included in your room rate, otherwise put your $12 or so per person to better use. The pool area could use a little more seating and shaded areas.

We only stayed one night but the rooftop pool was great with views of the tall buildings all around. This hotel has everything you need from yummy food in the breakfast buffet and then restaurant for lunch and dinner with good options. There was a great vegan ice cream shop just down the street and mini markets for supplies. The hotel even gave us breakfast-to-go for our early departure. They also let us store our bags for several days when we went to San Blas islands. Beds were comfortable, shower was large, clean and warm, room was big, good options on TV, and room service to have dinner brought up was only $2 extra.

The location was central for us for our pick up and drop off near airport and for San Blas company, but not a pretty part of town if you wanted to explore panama walking around, I'd stay in a different area.

The room was pretty big for the price. Breakfast was very good! Every time we went outside we got an Uber. It was very easy to move from one place to another. There were multiple supermarkets around and we could buy bread, water, drinks, etc. Many of the supermarkets are run by Chinese families and they sell freshly steamed Shumai in their shops. We tasted them. They were big and tasty. Also, there were many restaurants around the place within a 3-6 minute walk. The hotel had a nice swimming pool and jacuzzi which we enjoyed one evening with kids. The front desk was nice and helpful.

Not really.

We booked a room at Tryp but in reality we stayed at Victoria Hotel because there was a problem with the air conditioning in our room. We were informed in advance and they organize the change to a similar hotel (same facilities). I can not review this hotel and its room because I did not stayed in it but the hotel that they chose for us was clean, the room was big and comfortable.

The breakfast was ok but the only downside is that they do not serve vegetables. The only vegetables that I saw were put in omelettes. In the pool area it would be great to place some fans.
