SamA Al Areesh was a lovely place to get the Omani desert experience. The huge sand dune behind the cottages is picturesque and the food was incredible. The staff was kind and helpful. We arrived at night and it was dark which is lovely for the full desert experience but made parking a bit stressful. We only stayed one night so sadly did not partake in any activities.

Located at a base of a red-colored dune range, many cottages have large verandas with fine views of a valley between two dune ranges and magnificent sunsets. The cottages are large and well equipped (large comfy nathroom, aircon...) there's almost no furniture, but the luggage can be placed on the carpets on the floor. The breakfast and dinner are basic, but OK. The personnel if very nice and polite. We were upgraded to a better room at no adiitional cost at a low season.

There's not much else to do but watch dunes from the veranda and relax, but this is why most people come there for a day stop(riding dune buggies can be arranged, though).

Staying at this property was a fantastic opportunity to experience the desert. Located right at the gate of Wahiba Sands, the hotel is beautifully designed and decorated, creating an authentic and charming atmosphere. The cottage houses are lovely, featuring big windows and terraces that allow you to take in the peaceful and quiet surroundings. Plus, it's easily accessible by a normal car - no need for a 4x4, which makes getting there hassle-free. The dinner was delicious. Overall, a wonderful place for a relaxing and scenic desert stay!

The only downside was the communication - there was no response via Booking.com, and replies on WhatsApp were delayed. However, once we arrived, everything was well-organized and enjoyable.

Camp is easily reached from the highway, no 4x4 required. While the camp is located at the very edge of the desert (hence it does not become completely dark), it does allow you to enjoy the desert experience fully. Camel tour and dune bashing can be booked upon arrival, but since we already did those activities at other places, we decided to simply enjoy the sunrise on the high dune just behind the camp, and do some (free) sandboarding, which was a lot of fun. Staff was very welcoming and helpful; dinner and breakfast were definitely ok; coffee/tea/water were freely available all the time; the cabins were fully equipped with private bathroom and very clean. We can certainly recommend this accommodation.

Everything was perfect. I cannot recommend more this place. The food was better cooked than in many restaurants and the plates were very generous. The personnel was so kind and available, they make sure that you have the best stay possible. The location is very accessible with car without a 4×4. The main road going through the desert is in front of the hotel so you just have to park your car-no need for pick up by 4x4. The room was also amazing, very clean and big and the shower was great. If you are looking for a place to stay in the desert which is easily accessible, and in which you want to make sure that you stay will be memorable, I fully recommend this place. Many thanks to the great team and the cook for the great quality of the food.

Easy access from the road as my mother wasn’t able to walk or travel easily and this suited our needs. Great dining and seating area to relax and have views and the rooms were perfect with an en-suite bathroom and beautifully simply laid out. We were kindly taken on a drive up to the sand dunes when we asked at short notice, which was excellent!

More Omani presence - this is our third Sama hotel and we love them but they distinctly lack an Omani feel of hospitality. This is my only negative comment.

Excellent service, tasty food and cosy atmosphere in the room as well as a dinning area outside. Walk up to the dunes next to the property was nice, but if you are looking for an amazing experience in desert, this probably cannot offer the same as camps deeper in the dunes. But this camp is easily accessible by 2x4 car!

Everything was perfect...but the bed made a lot of noises, which made my sleep bad. It kinda destroyed my great feeling from the property.

Very friendly and helpfull staff, spacious bungalows with nice bathroom, inviting communal area with a varity of seating options, great sunset view from the dunes behind the area, 15min walk, accessible without 4x4

food was OK only, buffet style would be better, loud noise at night from quads or other vehicles in the sanddunes behind the resort

This is the easiest place to stay if you are short on time. The staff is incredibly helpful and we loved the sunset tour. We got a great deal and had a beautiful view.

The view is slightly blocked by radio towers and you are right by the road. The meals were not amazing, but filling and affordable.

Great location, great facilities guaranteeing full relax. Our delux rooms were fantastic. Service was impeccable, the camp staff were very helpful and caring. They even organized a small NYE festivities with a cake and confetti even though occidental NYE is not typically celebrated in Oman. That was such an amazing experience!

I would work out more on food, both dinner and breakfast.
