The location of the hotel is great, with restaurants, shops and pick up for trips basically on your doorstep. The jacuzzi has a lovely view across the harbour. The staff were really helpful and communication was brilliant since the initial booking was made Good breakfast that set us up for the day! Plenty of variety and buffet style so you can help yourself.
This isn't really a negative, as being on half board was an unexpected bonus when looking for a hotel, but we found the evening meal a bit limited, especially as we were travelling with a young child (5 years old). We had 50% of our meals in the hotel and 50% at local restaurants.

The staff were very friendly and reception was open all hours. The location of the hotel was prefect because it was close to the main street and also near the water with great views. Within walking distance to a lot of other hotels that were the pick up spots for our activities. Also saw the northern lights from the front of the hotel on two of the nights even though it was a very cloudy week. Great selection for breakfast and the additional fika and dinner options were a nice choice as well. Heated floors in the bathroom were so nice on the cold days.
One of the rooms didn't have a dresser so we couldn't unpack our suitcases, but the other room did have a dresser so that one was fine. Also, we requested rooms near each other, but they weren't even on the same floor.

Recently, we had an unforgettable stay at Hotel Aurora in Tromsø, and I must say that our expectations were exceeded. The hotel offers excellent services that are truly above standard. The atmosphere was very pleasant and cozy, which contributed to a fantastic experience. The room we had was simply incredible—spacious, elegantly decorated, and equipped with everything we needed. In the relaxation area, we enjoyed the hot tub, which was a great way to unwind after a day of exploring the beautiful Tromsø. A special mention goes to the receptionist, Anulu, whose willingness and friendly approach completely transformed our stay into an unforgettable experience. Her attention to detail and effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible was truly commendable. Another advantage of the hotel is that they are very pet-friendly, which delighted us as we could bring our dogs along. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Aurora to anyone looking for a great place to stay with exceptional services. Everything here was more than excellent, but the credit for our fantastic stay goes undoubtedly to Anulu. We would love to return here!

Breakfast, fika (afternoon cake), and dinner were included, offering a wide variety of choices for both breakfast and dinner. The food was excellent overall. Coffee, tea, and water were available all day in the dining room. The infrastructure was good and very clean. The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring the city, easily reachable by bus from the airport with just a 10-minute ride.
The hotel has a hot tub on the top floor terrace that you can book for 30-minute sessions. However, up to six people can book the hot tub at the same time, so you may end up sharing it with strangers.

The property is in an amazing location and central to absolutely everything, you couldn’t get a better location. The hotel isn’t the most modern however it’s very comfortable and welcoming. The beds are so comfy and the pillow which covers the entire bed is the nicest pillow I’ve ever slept on and I travel a lot. It was such an amazing sleep. I actually need to find these pillows and buy one for my home. The food was lovely and I found the breakfast to be brilliant with lots of options and although the evening meal is quite limited, what you do get is delicious. There’s always a hot soup, amazing fresh bread and a main choice with veg, potatoes and salad. We stayed 3 evenings and there was a different homemade soup each night (mushroom, minestrone, Thai soup) and the mains were fish pasta bake, chicken curry and the last evening pork in a cream sauce and all 3 were delicious. I really enjoyed the hotel despite it being a little old fashioned, it was charming, welcoming and homely which is what you want after braving the wintery Elements.
£13 for a pint in the hotel was too steep for my liking despite Norway being expensive to drink, this took the biscuit! It was the first night and last night we had an alcoholic drink in the hotel and found literally tens of bars and restaurants within a 5 minute walk.

Very central location next to the harbour. Very good opulent breakfast with warm and cold options, fresh fruits and juice. Dinner was also good. Liked the Fika (coffee/cake) option in the afternoon. Room was comfy; bed maybe a bit too soft. Nice warm sauna (80 degrees) and the view from the sauna/whirlpool is really nice.
During dinner, it was a bit tricky to get some staff to order drinks. For the whirlpool, they want you to book it in advance but then there is no control for this and the whirlpool is accessible to everyone all the time. I would say if you want people to pay for it, you should also put a lock there. Or make it free of charge.

All the meals are included : the breakfast buffet (with eggs and bacon, potatoes, sausages, ham, cheese, salmon, yogurt, cereals, croissants, many types of crackers and bread, and gluten free options), the afternoon cake called "fika", and light dinner. No lunch. You can also have coffee or tea free of charge anytime, and you also have access to sauna and you can book a jacuzzi. The beds are also really comfortable, excellent to sleep in after a long night of aurora hunting. The location is amazing, right in the center near the harbor, and less than 5 minutes walk from every meeting point for all the tours in Tromsø.
The room needs more light, and the shower makes the whole bathroom floor wet. Otherwise the room was perfect.

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The location is very central and they have (paid) parking right in front. The size of the rooms is ok and they were able to provide connecting rooms for our family. The staff is very friendly, especially at the restaurant, and all the meals (breakfast, afternoon tea/cake, and dinner) are included in your stay. Dinner is somewhat limited, but breakfast options are great. This was also the only hotel during our 2-week trip in Norway that had decent blackout curtains (absolutely necessary in summer). Sauna and a rooftop hot tub are great too.
While we loved the hot tub, but couldn't understand why they have to use such a cumbersome online reservation system for it (you have to provide your home address, full name, telephone number, and credit card details to book a hot tub for 30 minutes). It's also a pity they feel the need to charge for it, although the amount is quite reasonable for Norwegian standars (+-6 eur per person). There's just one thing we didn't like and that's the 'view' from our rooms - you're basically looking at another building just nearby and a dirty alley with trash containers. So we kept the curtains closed. It was also quite noisy outside - mainly seagulls and some loud passers-by. Not something you can avoid in any of the hotels in the center, I'm afraid.

Great quality breakfast and evening meal, nice rooms and friendly staff. Enjoyed Sauna. Great location and the fica is a nice touch. I would definitely come back here. Staff were able to accommodate for both gluten free and vegan upon request.
Poor housekeeping - although I understand not changing sheets daily for climate change, the housekeeping was poor. We asked for our beds to be converted into a double on the second night - housekeeping pushed the beds together, left the sheets unmade and didn’t change the clearly dirty mugs and glasses.

Excellent location, walking distance to lots of sights as well as close to pick up points and local bus stops. Good sized room and good value for money being half board, and the afternoon cakes were nice! Decent enough for a few nights.
The room was a little tired looking, little things like curtains missing hooks, chairs sagging, just needs a bit of a refresh. The bed was too soft for my liking but that's personal preference! Limited hanging space and no drawers for storage. Evening buffet won't win any awards, limited choice but plenty of it.
